This has been a stellar addition to the East End neighborhood. I love any place with an elevated bar food-style menu, endless rosé options, cocktails on draft, and a generally cool vibe. The space looks like something out of an 80s movie -- bright colors, kitschy decor, but all well-intentioned and meticulously curated. There's a bar in the front and another in the back. The kitchen is open - order at any bar or at the special food counter in the middle. If you've started a tab at one of the bars, they can add anything to it. Additionally, there's more room upstairs with nooks for seating, a foosball table, and a patio seating outside. Everything I've tried has been delicious and just what I'm looking for on a night out. Here are my go-tos: FOOD - Pizza - the dough is it! (My pick is usually the O.G. - mozz, basil, sauce). You can also get it by the slice! - Swan's fries (the perfect amount of truffle oil in my opinion, just a hint to kick the fries up a notch + parmesan and basil... also crinkle cut fries are king esp. with a special sauce for dippin'.) - Mozz sticks (WOA - homemade, super seasoned, lots of oozy cheese, and a spicy tomato dipping sauce). - Vodka sauce + pasta (throwback mems to Cibon, but new and improved). - Recent love affair: the burger (it's like a classy and delicious Big Mac-style gem... double patties, super special sauce + relish, soft bun - a win all around! Might be my favorite burger as of late.) DRINKS - Rosé of all kinds - bubbly one in a can (surprisingly delightful!), 40oz, and still one in a glass, as I write this it's from Sangiovese (my go-to pick here). - Pimm's cup + old fashioned on draft! - Aperol spritz (summertime bev) Surely we'll run into each other here. The ambience is awesome. The cocktails are good! Food is a little underwhelming and more importantly, not consistent. The pizza slices are not bad though. Me and my wife like the chopsuey here. The truffle fries were very good the first time, however, it was not the same the next couple of times. Not worth it. What I love more than good bar food is a kitchen that is open until 2am. This is unheard of in the East End/Alexander St area. While there isn't an ideal way to order your food, the staff really goes all out to make sure they get you your order...and speedy! Let me elaborate the ordering process. There is a hostess type of station in which gives the impression is where you report to in order to be seated. Not the case. It is where you place your order and get your number for the table. Sounds simple, but this is very troublesome late at night where people are already standing around the area. However, the good food and vibes are totally worth it. My new favourite are the mozzarella sticks. They taste made from scratch and are battered with seasoned panko. Did I mention that the cheese pull is sexy AF? And that crunch...ohh the crunch! The Swan burger is double stacked, so make sure you have a share buddy. The chicken nuggets are juicy and tender. Their pizzas are pretty scrumptious as well. Overall this is a pretty awesome spot. I have heard mixed reviews of Swan Dive. Some people love it, some people are unimpressed. I went there last night and had a fabulous time. So count me in the very impressed people. You order at the bar and they give you a number that you leave at your table. There's sitting all over the place, including outside. We decided to sit outside because it was a nice warm evening and we don't get many of those. The food that we ordered was good. The highlights were the vegetarian pizza (On Trend), the roasted cauliflower, the mozzarella sticks, the chicken parm. The Wu-Tang pizza had good flavors, but I felt it was a bit sparse in the toppings department. My friend had the burger and the thought it was OK. Then there's the drinks. They have drinks on tap and they make you drinks by hand if you want. I ordered the Pimps Cup (it's a Pimm's Cup), and it was delicious, definitely a great choice for summer drinking. I also tasted one of their hand made creations and it was really tasty. All and all, I must say that I loved the concept, the drinks, and most of the food, I will definitely will be going again. read more

The environment was really nice and the decor was really cute, lots of picture opportunities for the insta if you're into that. We ordered the OG pizza but substituted the sauce for their garlic sauce and added pepperonis and had some margaritas to pair with it. It was absolutely delicious I recommend trying the pizza that way it was good choice. Also ask for the ranch, it's so good we took some extra home. Swan Dive is the new hip place to be, in their young prime of the East and Alex strip. Formerly Havana Cabana, I think that this place will do better after emerging with the fresh take on the cocktail scene. I walked in at 7pm on a Friday night, and it was poppin' for Rochester Cocktail Revival, but we still managed to score some stools near the downstairs back bar. Also, the bar service was very quick. I was impressed with how easily I was able to squeeze in and order some drinks. All of the computer systems are linked as well, so it makes moving through the space with separate food and drinks bars seamless. We ordered the cocktails off of their special menu for the night. They went with a 70s theme. I ordered my friend the 'Far out'. It had elder flower notes and gin. The drink was very smooth and delicious, but I think it could have used a kick at the end, or maybe some bubbles. The rubber duck floating in it was a nice touch. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a cocktail with tequila on the menu. I know that it wasn't Cinco de Mayo, but I am just a tequila woman for sure. I ended up ordering something that (I think) was called the "One or two or three?". It was pretty, and not sweet. At first taste I wasn't in love, but it grew on me halfway through. I can respect a bar that can make craft cocktails that take me out of my comfort zone. We had a "Fun-Guy" pizza as well. It took awhile for it to come out, but it is Friday night. They give you a number tree thing and ask you what area you are in, and a busser comes with your order. The pizza was pretty tasty, and I appreciate it when it comes out nice and hot. There is nothing worse than getting an order that has sat under a heat lamp for a bit. The pizza was thinner, but the crust was nice and crispy. I am excited to try some of their other options on the menu. The upstairs has a Foosball table, sit down dinner seating, and some couch hang out spots. It is also where the restrooms are located. My roommate and I went here Friday night for drinks. It's not as busy compared to some other places in the area so there was no line to get in. The drinks were good and I got a slice of pizza which was also really good. The music is really loud so it's a bit hard to have an actual conversation but it isn't really great dancing music either. I've been swooning over everyone's Instagram pics of Swan Dive since it opened. So we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to finally see what it was all about! Sunday is brunch so there is a select menu, but there were plenty of breakfast and lunch choices. First and foremost, the much talked about interior is totally on point. Mid-century Miami in all it's pink and seafoam glory. This is a place truly worth its place as Instagram eye candy. Every detail and line in the design is intentional. The space alone changes the game. We tried a number of items and had a few drinks. My first drink was the draft cocktail with hibiscus and something else that was pink and just the right amount of sweet. My partner had an Industrial Arts IPA ($9!) and we followed those up with Miller High Life's and neat Rye. Overall the beer and cocktail program is great, with many craft choices that follow the theme and a balanced beer selection. We had a bunch of different food items. We started with the deviled eggs which taste like the ones my mom makes, which brought back all the feels. Our second dish was the baby eggplant with feta and a fried egg. In truth, I would skip this, it was not great. We finished up with a slice of cheese pizza, and the truffle fries. Both of these were super tasty, the pizza was thin and crispy New York Style with lots of parm on top. The shoestring fries were not drowning in truffle oil and sprinkled with cheese. Get both of these items. We asked the adorable bartender what we could expect on a Friday or Saturday around 9pm, he told us to avoid it because it's crazy and we certainly will, but we will be back for a daytime weekend hang again! read more

To tell the truth, I am not the biggest fan of Swan Dive. I will give them four stars because I respect the effort they are putting in, their excellent interior decor, and the solid "Sick of these Dolphins" cocktail that I received. However, I can't say I'm a huge fan of the place overall. Maybe it's the food, which aside from a few creative-sounding pizzas with trendy ingredients and some welcome vegetable-based sides, seems basically like glorified typical bar food such as chicken parmesan, mozzarella sticks and strombolis (my girlfriend was not impressed by the stromboli). I had marinated olives as a side, which tasted good, but were not pitted and were very hard to eat in a dignified way. I think part of my lack of enthusiasm about this place also comes from the fact that it replaced Havana Cabana, whose culinary execution did not always live up to the potential of the way things sounded on the printed menu, but which had a legitimate authenticity to it, really fantastic decor/vibe, live music, and a great pool table / hang-out space upstairs. It felt eclectic and like it represented some kind of actual cultural experience, which I cannot say for Swan Dive, although the 50's / Miami-type of decor is pretty great. I think Swan Dive's greatest contribution to its neighborhood is that it's a low-key spot to hang out, drink and eat with a bunch of friends - more up-to-date than Old Toad, less formal than Daily Refresher, cheaper than Ox and Stone, less obnoxious than the clubs and bars on East Ave proper. It does offer something nice that wasn't totally available in the area previously, and I will respect that. They also have an old-school video game setup. I think the best thing Swan Dive could do would be to elevate their menu offerings a bit; I think that would help create more of a reason to come to Swan Dive beyond that it's simply a convenient place to start the evening that is more inclusive / easygoing than a lot of the places in the neighborhood. As it is, I do have to commend them for the interior decor and for the cocktail I had, which was fantastic. Keep growing! read more

I've heard amazing things about Swan Dive, but have never gone in. Since I'm leaving the ROC soon, this place was a must on my list of places to go. Decided to go check it out by myself as I have no problem going to places on my own. I knew the layout as it used to be Havana Cabana, but they have updated the interior to fit the feel they were going for. Patrick, my bartender, was super friendly and was a great person to socialize with! The food here is comfort food. Think inventive pizzas and TV dinner style. I got the Dank nuggets (props to them being organic) since I can't eat dairy and they were perfect after a long day of work. Also, the cocktails are on POINT! It was really nice to be able to order non-alcoholic cocktails that are put really well together. I'm in LA now and last night when I asked the bartenders for a non-alcoholic cocktail, they looked at me real strange. It's really exciting to see a place like Swan Dive thinking ahead of the curve (as not everyone wants to drink when they go out and doesn't just want water or soda). I hope to see they keep these N/A cocktails on the menu because they are on to something and I hope more bars will continue to rise to what Swan Dive has done. They have Seedlip N/A spirits (yes you read that right) on the menu and the depth of cocktails they can make is awesome. The bartenders even asked if I could have ginger beer, which I thought was really well done because they're taking into account the fact someone might not want any alcoholic aspects in their drink. Swan Dive - Cheese stuffed crust pizza - Pizza Near Me - Rochester, New York

This is not a dive bar. I'd classify it as a hipster bar -- take that as you will. Edit: I referred to this as a dive bar because when you look it up on Yelp it is classified as "Pizza, Dive Bars." My friend and I visited for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't crowded, but there were a decent amount of people at both bars (one in front, another towards the back). There's also seating upstairs. First thought: music is WAY too loud. I'm an old millennial. I want to be able to talk to my friends without having to shout. We wanted to sit upstairs, but the music was blasting so loud out of the speakers that we decided to go back downstairs where it was slightly less loud. We got the Swan's Fries and Yeezy pizza. I was so excited to try the fries (truffle, basil, parmesan, special sauce). I couldn't taste any truffle at all. There was a lot of basil and a moderate amount of grated parmesan sprinkled on top. The best part was the special sauce, a spicy aioli, but it came in a tiny little paper cup (like the kind you fill with ketchup at McDonald's) and we had to ask for another. The pizza was also pretty underwhelming. The Yeezy has four cheeses, garlic, oregano, and basil pesto. I didn't see any basil pesto. There was a lot of cheese and a faint garlic flavor. Garlic pizzas are one of my favorite things when done right, and I really want the garlic flavor to punch me in the face. This was just a cheese pizza with a small garlic taste. It was also really oily. I won't come back here. I think it's a good place for a happy hour for a younger crowd, but overall was too loud for me and the food was totally underwhelming. The service was pretty friendly, though. Oh, and my friend got a seltzer water and they charged her $3 for it. Is that normal? We both had never been charged for seltzer water before. This is one of my favorite spots to get drinks, all the bartenders are so nice and helpful when trying to find the drink you'd like best. They are a good spot for both a casual drink during the week or going out for a fun time on the weekend. On mondays they have kareoke which isn't packed but surely fun. I think it may be because East/Alexander area usually isn't my vibe anymore, but I'm going to have to change that! This place was great! They changed up the decor a little since the last restaurant that was here. I love that the bar stools and it's hard to explain, but they look kind of space-age! I am feeling this place for sure. We were quickly greeted by a hostess as soon as we walked in on a Sunday evening and while the bar was full there was plenty of seating upstairs. The smell of crisp charred pizza crust wafted by me and I knew I was going to have to get me some. The interior of Swan dive is just ultra cool, with the exposed brick, the pool table, and the upstairs area that opens up to the bar below. Our server was awesome and offered to replace my beer since she could tell I wasn't crazy about it. The mixed drink (Cool Breeze) I ordered at first was weak but sweet, and the beers I tried were ok but kind of funky. They were running a 12 for 10 special on wings. These were undoubtedly some of the best wings that I've had in roc. They weren't huge but they were fried perfectly, not too overdone yet crispy skinned with a sweet and sour sauce that just came together so well. We also got a cheese pizza and devoured it. The place filled up with more customers which is a great sign for a dreary sunday evening. All the staff we dealt with were courteous and friendly and we just had a great time here. I've been meaning to check the Swan Dive out for months, and just never got around to it. I stopped in for a bite to eat after drinks elsewhere and was not disappointed. Being later on a Friday night it was extremely busy. My friend and I grabbed drinks at the bar (Pimm's Cup is exceptional) and then made our way to a desk in the middle that said something about being seated, but it turns out they no longer do table service. The very friendly woman at the desk told us to take any table upstairs and gave us a number so they could bring us our food. Upstairs, there are some bar games (pool etc.) and a few tables so you can sit down and enjoy your food. We both ordered the burger, and shared some mozzarella sticks at the recommendation of the woman who took our order. DELICIOUS. Easily the best "bar food" I've had in Rochester. I would go back for that burger. I want one right now. The prices are pretty reasonable, staff all seemed very friendly, and the food and drink were amazing. My one gripe is that at least where we were seated upstairs, the music seemed extremely loud and by the end of our time there, we were shouting over it. It was a Friday night, so it could just be bad timing to try and sit down for food and expect to have conversation, but just something I thought I'd mention. I went here with my group of friends on a Monday night. Alexander St. is old stomping grounds and it was fantastic to see such a great place open! Really cool bar on the bottom and a lot of seating on top. Giant slice of cheese pizza $2 and 2 for 1 beers. Beer list isn't extensive if you like IPAs but the cocktail menu is huge! The larger pizza was yummy and my friend got the giant kale salad. It was also trivia night so it started filling up around 7:30 which was nice. I like a busier place! The staff was awesome. I get one literally every time we come and it's always bomb. But aside from their pizza, the atmosphere is great if it isn't too crowded. We went simple with the pepperoni pizza, which was delicious. The crust was just perfection, and the small pepperoni slices had a wonderful kick to them. My only regret is forgetting to take a picture, but we were so hungry that we cut right to the chase! Their prices are very reasonable, and if you go during happy hour, it's a steal! I've been to Swan Dive several times and for several different occasions, and I have never had a negative experience. We even chose to have our wedding "after party" here! We also went to Swan Dive to celebrate our engagement. Tip: if you want a less-crowded experience on the weekend, I've found the sweet spot to be between 9:30-11pm, so maybe make this the first stop of the night or stake out a spot early! Service- every staff member is SO KIND, helpful, and fun. Whether it was for our wedding after party or dinner or just drinks with friends, the staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Food: GREAT pizza! All of them. Seriously. Sauces, crust, toppings, everything- do yourself a favor and eat it. All of the other menu items I've tried have been yummy also, and as a bonus, they partner with Scratch bake shop for delicious cake/dessert options! Drinks: there is something here for everyone. All the cocktails are made with quality ingredients, are well-balanced, and have interesting flavor combinations. Plus, there are two bars, which is helpful when it's a busy weekend night. Ok this is crazy because it was very unexpected, Swan Dive has the best pizza I've had in Rochester! My new favorite pie The Wu Tang! Pepperoni, hot peppers, chili and hunny. Sweet and savory crispy haven't had anything like this in Rochester. Very Brooklynesque. Anybody familiar with Roberta's Brooklyn will love this pizza. Wait doesn't end there we had fresh made mozzarella sticks, beets and cucumber salad, some kind of chicken tempura, a specialty pizza slice with fennel and mushrooms. Everything was delicious! I'm most upset about the meatballs. They were really, Really good. Nobody has good meatballs except my grandmother and now Swan Dive. The staff was awesome! Jessica and Nate were very attentive. Nate was incredibly knowledgeable in tequila and mezcal. Great bartender. Nate helped with a lot of our food choices and we were not disappointed. Put Swan Dive on your must try list. I've been going to Swan Dive since their soft opening on St. Patrick's Day several years ago. I consistently really enjoy their pizza and their cocktails are great. I much prefer getting food on site rather than to go; the last couple of times I've gotten take out, I haven't been super impressed. I waited an hour for a pizza and salad and didn't get a text/email that it was ready until an hour after I decided to just go and pick it up. Also, their "Kale Caesar!" that cost $13 was the saddest salad I've ever overpaid for. It looked NOTHING like the picture on the website. They literally poured a bag of kale into the bag, threw in a few sliced radishes, and sprinkled some sesame seeds at the bottom of the box. And the "tahini caesar" dressing tasted like water. Is this a joke? At first I thought they gave me the wrong salad, but no... their pizza was a solid 4-4.5-stars but the salad and wait time brought it down a couple of notches, sadly. read more

Zero stars Three visits in to have a beer and a few slices all totally burnt. Not flavorfully charred but dark and burnt. All deeply crusted and burnt. Not coal fired kissed or charred with live fire, just sat in too long and burnt. Neglected, pre cooked and burnt to no good just shows lack of craft and plain not caring. First two visits couldn't finish a single slice, even the crust bc so terrible. Last visit o spoke up before eating and was told it's how they cook them and I'm first person to complain. Seriously, best of luck with all of that. Thank goodness I spoke up and didn't have to choke the slices down just had to drive somewhere else to snack food.
