I stopped in Monday to pick up a new pair of ballet shoes for a dance class I started this week. I waited too long to order them online (they weren't going to ship in time for my class), but I'm glad I did, because it was nice to discover Swan. The woman working the desk was the owner's mom. She told me about the owner's philosophy and how she likes to get to know all of her customers. Another staff member then helped me find the right shoes. She sized both feet, provided a couple of test pairs, and had me walk around the store to try them out. They hooked me up with a microfiber split sole slipper which fits kind of like a sock. Definitely different than the ballet shoes of my high school years. They have many varieties, however, and the staff will be happy to let you try on multiple types and sizes. The shoes were under $25 total which was great. They also offer a discount if you dance at a local studio! If you're like me and waffling between buying ballet shoes online and going to a dance store, I definitely recommend Swan. The prices for regular ballet slippers are very similar to what you will find on Amazon with the added value of getting to try them on to get a feel for them and being able to ask questions in the store. My only suggestion would be to add some pricing information to the 'Products' page of their website so people can get a feel for it ahead of time. Since I haven't bought ballet slippers in a long time I wasn't really sure what to expect at a brick-and-mortar store. Thanks Swan - I'll be back! read more

There are multiple dance stores closer to our home than Swan, but the knowledgeable owner and staff, as well as the excellent selection, always make the drive worthwhile. I would not trust anywhere else for pointe shoe fittings. I am particularly grateful for the amount of time Miss Meredith spends with my daughter to ensure a proper fit. Horrible/ racially profiling experience. 11/26- I sent my black husband to buy our child new tap shoes. My husband was ignored, overlooked, and unwelcomed by the store associates. Giving him prejudiced looks. Other non- black customers were greeted as they entered the store. Finally, he walked to front counter and asked for assistance and associate act like they didn't want to help him. read more

I dearly wish we could stay and support what, in concept, is a wonderful business. Our daughters had years of careful fittings with expert-level customer service and organization. Our daughters have jobs and save their babysitting cash to buy their pointe shoes. They have done this for years. Ms. Marla and her dear mother were a team who understood these weren't just business transactions. There was warmth, poise and professionalism each and every time we walked in. The store felt like a niche and special place for dancers in development. New ownership has sadly, over the months, failed to deliver good service. Today, Ms. Meredith blame-shifted and made numerous excuses, resulting in our driving a half hour to have no refund for a special order. It's one thing to be disorganized and apologetic. It is another entirely to blame a hard working child for the misunderstanding. I'm sad to have to find another place for our shoes but I wont have our children's money nor their feelings mishandled. read more

This is a wonderful place for dance wear and shoes. As a former professional ballerina and long time ballet teacher, the owner has the experience and knowledge to fit pointe shoes and flats very very well. She will spend as much time as needed to try numerous options and really listen to what the dancer is feeling in the shoe. She makes each person feel special and valued and it is a wonderful experience to be fitted here. I am a former professional dancer and I really appreciated the expertise as she fitted my daughter for her first pair of pointe shoes. Plus she has super cute accessories for dancers, all the supplies needed for pointe shoes, buns, and performances and a nice selection of leotards, warmups and activewear for other types of dance or exercise. There were so many things my daughter loved! I was so sad that the Rosin box closed but now I don't mind! And it's much easier to drive to and park in Narberth. Highly recommend! read more

Do not bother. They are very expansive. We wanted to exchange one size for a bigger one. They made us drive all the way home to get the original box. All this for an exchange. The lady in the store was rude enough to tell us "it was not a hassle" to drive 20 minutes just for a box. read more

Marla is absolutely the best. She really cares about the dancers that come through her door. Over and over again she has gone above and beyond to help us figure out my daughter's point shoe issues, from ordering shoes to spending tons of time trying on every shoe in the store (or at least that's what it felt like!). We really love it there. The people who work there are really friendly and caring. The selection is amazing, there isn't an overwhelming amount of stuff, but they only have really good quality things. The prices are fine, not marked up, and not marked down either. Since coming here a few weeks ago to get Toe Sox as gifts, the wonderful lady who worked there talked my hesitant daughter into trying a ballet class. If she doesn't have something you need, she will order it - she has ordered shoes and other items my daughter has needed for next-day delivery.
