This past February I went to My Dance Bag upon hearing about a wonderful sale they were having on…read morepointe shoes at their store. One of the brands of shoes they had on sale were on Grishko pointe shoes, a very popular brand that I, as well as some fellow classmates of mine wear. A few of my classmates and I went to the store and purchased multiple pairs of pointe shoes for an excellent price. It was almost as if it was too good to be true... Around a week or two after the sale had ended, a few classmates were inspecting the recently purchased shoes. To their surprise, the pointe shoes that are known for being made in Russia had a sticker inside labeled "Made in P.R.C" (People's Republic of China), and the outside of the shoe said "Handmade", when legitimate Grishko pointe shoes say "Made in Russia". The pointe shoes were a knock off brand!! Furious that I, as well as multiple classmates of mine had purchased multiple pairs of shoes, I called the owner to see what was up. I very politely explained to her that I had reason to believe that I had purchased a pair of illegitimate pointe shoes from her store, and right away the owner became very defensive and claimed the shoes were not fake. I have kept every single pair of pointe shoes that I have ever worn and they are all the same while the singular pair of pointe shoes I bought from My Dance Bag were different. The owner did not want to work with me to resolve the issue and was not the least bit sorry/ never apologized once. There is one last issue with pointe shoes from this store as well. Before I purchased the pointe shoes, I wanted to be fitted because I was not sure of my size as I had not worn the style of pointe shoes I purchased in a few years. After taking the pointe shoes out from storage, the owner put a hairdryer in the box of the shoes to warm them up!!! She said that she does this to warm up the pointe shoes because the storage area is cold. She had the hair dryer in the shoes for easily two minutes per shoe. This is very unprofessional, as pointe shoes are very delicate and a hair dryer could kill them much faster. One classmate of mine who had purchased a pair of shoes from this store (after the sale AND for full price) was also a victim of the hair dryer, and after one pointe class her shoes became as bendy as overcooked noodles. This is completely unacceptable and I will never return to this store and I highly discourage others to purchase pointe shoes from this store.

Wadsworth Ave. Vikki the store manager is so professional, helpful, knowledgeable, welcoming and nice looking too. She helped me with find the perfect pair of sneakers for my son. I didn't know what was in style and was having trouble with sizing. She handled it all, while serving other customers as well. The only thing I would suggest is that her staff was more like her. I felt like she was doing all of the work while others stood around waiting for Vicki to tell them what to do. It was unfortunate to see, but Vicky is a rockstar.
