Today I went into Swade's Barbershop. I wasnt looking to get a haircut today, but I got caught in the construction zone and saw this shop that I never knew was there while I was waiting in the traffic. I decided I needed one and pulled into the parking lot. There were a fair amount of cars parked outside. I didnt really want to wait too long, but thought Id look inside and see what the wait time was going to be. Wow! what a surprise! You'd never know it by looking at the outside what a treasure you'll find inside. Right away I was welcomed by the staff (who were all busy cutting hair) and asked by very friendly woman to please sign in (later I found out she was the owner) and offered up a free drink and holiday cookies. Seriously, this was right out of a movie or something. The inside is all decked out in a western theme and even my favorite singer, Geroge Strait was playing in the background. The place was almost full and everyone seemed be talking with eachother~ there were 4 kids playing checkers and sitting at an old time school desk another young boy was coloring. I was assured right away that it wouldnt be long and took a seat next to a massive old display cabinet that looked like it was right out of The Big Valley or Gun Smoke television series. One of the barbers was giving a straight razor shave (I didnt even know they did those anymore) and another was giving a customer a shoulder massage with an interesting looking old fashioned machiene. I asked to use the restroom and was escorted back to a large room with a HUGE Waylon Jennings poster (this thing had to be at least 12 ft high) and more western art adorned the walls. I almost lost track of time just watching the people and enjoying the atmosphere. A young man approched me and introduced himself (Jessie or Jose) and I followed him back to his chair. What an enjoyable conversation we had and I must say... he did a fantastic job. I was even offered a warm towel at the end and I too, got the shoulder massage after he finished the cut with warm shaving cream and a straight razor on my neck and sideburns (which I havent had since I was a kid). I will certainly be back again. I know this is a long review, but I wrote myself a note when I got in my truck to make sure I remembered everything.. thats how great this place is. I highly reccommend this shop to anyone looking for a fantastic haircut and an out of this world experience. Great job, Swade. And the cookies were delicious! Jack read more

I started using Swade for my exclusive barbershop 10 years ago and I would not consider going anywhere else. I'd cut my own hair before I'd let anyone else touch it. The owner/proprietor is Anthony Flores, one of the most decent, friendly and skilled barbers you are ever going to find, and he runs a tight ship with his staff of the best trained and most motivated hair cutting professionals in Tucson. They aim to please. Swade is clean, neat, and airy, yet feels like a dark wood old fashioned establishment, an old West style man-cave full of memorabilia. It's a place you can relax and enjoy friendly barbershop conversations the way things used to be. And should still be but aren't. Not anything like a fancy chrome plated snooty art-deco places uptown, with pulsing music... this is a down-home, old school barbershop and once you've settled in, you'll feel like you've been going there your whole life. The TV usually has ESPN or other sports show on it. Guy themed magazines, heavy on the sports, all clean and decent for the kids too. Old school, yet they will give you the best example of any style haircut you can possibly want. Anthony and his crew always go the extra mile to make sure ever customer is satisfied, and include precision straight-razor trim, hot towels, and a relaxing shoulder rub down with an electric massager. You'll walk out of there looking and feeling like a million bucks. Prices are reasonable, too. Swade Barbershop gets my absolute highest rating. Give it a try. read more

I've been taking my son to Swade barbershop since it's been open almost 8 years now. Anthony and Jose cut his hair and my son LOVES their cuts. They are perfectionists! They edge up with detail, and all his friends compliment him. I love the atmoshphere at the shop and have never experienced such great customer service and attention to detail. And I myself, have been to many a salon - and they can't come close! Swade will "sway" any man away from the foo-foo "MAN" salons in town, which charge a guy $25 and up for a haircut! Often times, we'll stick around after the haircuts just to shoot the breeze and have a few laughs. Every gentleman receives a straight-razor shave around the ears and neck, followed by either a cool or warm face towl and shoulder massage. Complimentary sodas and water are in the fridge for the taking. This is the CLASSIEST barber shop in Tucson! No questions. read more

I have always used the normal shops like Sports Clips, Pro Cuts, etc. It wasn't until going to Swade that I found out I can obtain the exact cut I wanted. Not to mention the feeling of walking in and feeling right at home. The environment and couch are so comfortable, I have taken a few power naps and felt like I was in my living room! Anthony, Tyler, Rodney, are Jose are always uplifting and do a great job. I dare anyone to walk in there and not leave without a smile on your face. I have seen men and women of all ages go in and always see them walk out happy with the service they received. I trust every one of those guys with providing the same cut and service every time. Not to mention if you have had a hard day, their offering of a cold or hot towel is always that cherry on the top. HANDS DOWN BEST SHOP IN TOWN! read more

This is my 2nd cut here and my experience a second go around was even better than the first. As soon as I entered I was greeted and asked if I wanted a beverage! The place has a real men's barbershop feel from back in the day, a western style to the decor. It has an old school men's barbershop vibe to it; you know where you go in and talk with the guys about music, sports, woman and typical barbershop/water cooler talk! It's great and I got a repeat cut from Tyler, who is excellent and wasn't hesitant in answering my questions about hair cut options and recommendations personal to my hair. Well defiantly keep coming by and most likely will be my new go-to barbershop for that slick freshness! read more

Swade Barber shop is one of the best barber shops in Tucson. Everything is great here from their cool refreshments(Soda or Water) to their cool or hot towels they offer after the razor trim when your hair cut is finished. Ive had everything done here from a full face shave, to razor fade hair cuts. Everyone there is friendly and very professional and can handle any hair cut style you may want, if available Id recommend Anthony hes been cutting my hair for years and no one does it better. I have been going to Swade's for years. Paul and everyone else there gives the best haircuts around. It is a little on the pricey side, $16, I tip heavy and leave the whole $20. But that is because it is worth it. The haircut is twice as good as any cost cutters which is worth it on its own. But the attention to detail, the straight razor, the warm or cool towel, the back rub, they'll even trim my eyebrows or trim that random hair that is growing where it doesn't belong. It is like a spa for men who don't want to admit they want a little pampering. I love this barbershop! read more

This was my first barbershop to try in Tucson and it will be my last. Why keep looking when you find the best on your first try?! I walked in without an appointment and Rodney seated me almost immediately. I told him how I usually get my hair trimmed and he got to work. The booking system gave me the option to choose my barber, and my confirmation clearly showed that my appointment was with Danny. I arrived at 3:14 p.m., 16 minutes early. I made an effort to arrive before my appointment because I respect other people's time and would never want to inconvenience a barber by showing up late. Unfortunately, that same level of consideration was not shown to me. When I checked in and said that I had an appointment with Danny, he told me that he was Danny, but that one of his barbers would be cutting my hair because another client was coming in for him. I was not notified beforehand by phone, text, or email. He did not ask whether I was comfortable with the change, offer me another appointment, or give me any real choice. He simply told me that someone else would take care of me because they had good barbers and a fade was easy. The other client did not arrive until approximately 20 minutes later. It honestly felt as though I was being penalized for arriving early. Since I was already there, I was passed to another barber while Danny waited for the client he preferred to take. I found that unfair and very unprofessional. My concern is not that a business has multiple capable barbers. My concern is that the website specifically allows customers to select a particular barber, confirms the appointment under that person's name, and then disregards the selection without advance notice or consent. If choosing a barber does not actually guarantee an appointment with that person, the booking system should clearly say so. I believe everyone deserves the same basic level of respect, regardless of who they are. You should treat the person cleaning the building with the same dignity and consideration you would show the CEO. I respected Danny's schedule by arriving early, but my confirmed appointment and my time were not respected in return. Juan ended up cutting my hair. He was polite, and the haircut was acceptable overall, but he appeared uncertain several times and asked another barber for guidance about what would look best. The front was not finished as well as I expected, and the overall result was not as detailed as haircuts I have received elsewhere. I paid $60 for the service and still left a $7 tip. The haircut itself was acceptable, which is why I am giving two stars instead of one. However, the way my appointment was handled was disappointing, unfair, and unprofessional. I booked Danny specifically, received confirmation under his name, arrived early out of respect for his time, and was reassigned without warning because he chose to take another client who arrived later. That experience left me unsure whether I would return.
