I gave SW Engines my VIN so that they knew to send me a dodge 4.7 ltr engine with the 16 tooth crankshaft tone wheel. They expect to deal with experienced mechanics, I'm a backyard mechanic so it took me 8 months from the delivery date to realize that I can't trust this company, 8 months of mental anguish and depression. And we'll past return date. They sent me an engine with the 32 tooth tone wheel when they told me they sent one with the 16 tooth tone wheel. They didn't check to see if the product matched with the discription. Left uncorrected this kind of problem will quickly ruin a company. I purchased an engine sold by a company these people also own called used.remanns.com. Apparently they have several names they are selling parts under, so they're hard to track down. Garbage company. It took them a month to send me a replacement engine to start with. Then, I have been trying to get them to pay to repair the engine that they sold me for 2 1/2 months. (It was for the wrong year vehicle and the camshaft sprocket had to be replaced to get the engine to even run). I ended up just installing the new part after waiting, and now they say I have violated their terms and conditions and the warranty is now voided. read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL We ordered an engine on 4/6. They did advised us it could take up to 10 days to ship out. We were ok with that. When more than 10 days past and we didn't get any email with tracking # we called. We were told that they were waiting for a truck to come to Texas so they shipped it to us that it would be about another week or so. We understood seeing they were not charging shipping. We waited another week or so and called back on a Wednesday and said that it was at their Texas Warehouse and it would be shipped out on Friday and we should receive an email. No email was ever sent and by Tuesday we called back. When they answered, I have them my invoice # as always. They put me on hold for a while and when they came back on the line she said they were not able to find it so she could not give me even an ETA, mind you it's been over a month now. So we decided to cancelled it seeing they couldn't tell me now when I would get it. She said she would have to send an email to us to cancel it, we were still on the line when I received the email. I read it and asked her that it said we were being charged a 25% restocking fee. She said and I quote "you will not because we never shipped the engine" (I did record the call once she said they could not find the engine) she had CC her Supervisor Sancho which is a very rude person. My husband had talked to him previously and he had the audacity to tell my husband he was too busy for this and hang up on him. When I called several time and finally got a hold of him because we were still charged the 25% he said he was not the supervisor of refunds and if I had the recording as I said to send it to him and he would review it. Which I did and here we are almost 2 weeks and several calls and emails to no avail. This company for me has been a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I hope this really help the people to know what kind of people they are dealing with. Moving forward price may not be a factor seeing I still had order our Engine from another vendor. SCAMMED ME OUT OF $3000 It took almost 30 days for them to send out a motor they promised I would get in 14. The motor was not shipped according to how they said (i.e shrink wrapped) but it was on a 3x3 pallet, on the back of a flat bed. Exposed. The engine was rusty and full of water, it had broken and missing parts when it arrived. Totally unusable. I tried contacting SWE several times in regards to the condition of the motor and to seek some sort of resolution. At first I was getting the run around then I was getting shifted to different departments to which referred me to other departments. No clear person to talk to to handle the situation. I even tried to get them to speak with the mechanic in regards to the condition of the motor. Nothing. Two months later I had to go through my bank to get a refund because they refused to send a return shipping label or honor their own warranty after I sent them the pictures they required of the motor. Customer service was rude and evasive and kept transferring my calls and complaints to people who did not exist. They continually told me that a supervisor would contact me and yet to date I have received zero calls from anyone from the company. We found out later that the motor came from a salvage yard, they never had it in stock, or cleaned it or any other lie they come up with to get you to buy from them. On 2/4/23, I ordered a transmission from Remanns company. They mailed the transmission to me within 2 weeks. When the transmission arrived at the shop, and the tech installed it, it would not program to the car, the transmission was faulty, and the codes failed I immediately called the company to input a warranty claim, and after a month of constantly calling their customer service (with no help), not receiving a response from emails, I finally got an email back (with no phone call or explanation) saying that I drove the car before reprogramming it. I explained to them that there was no way I could drive a car, and the programming failed, the car won't move! Now I am out of $2095, and an additional $1441 for labor that I paid to install the transmission and no one will call me to discuss this. A friend recommended SWEngines and I took his word for it -- I rank this among the top three worst decisions I have ever made, and I don't remember the other two. One disaster after another. I completed my order 13 May, 2023. "Thank you for your recent order (Invoice # 417917) from SWEngines.com: 300-77240 2016 Nissan Frontier Engine 4.0L (VIN A, 4th digit, VQ40DE) We truly value your business" 16 May I received a notification from them the order was being processed and will ship in 7-14 business days. On 31 May, I received an apology for a "slight delay". Finally shipping confirmation on 5 June. Then I get this on 7 June, "Sent paperwork to the warehouse to get this picked up and they loaded it onto the incorrect truck. Should have it back here in the next few days and then reship out to you, that transit time is 3-4 business days. You should receive this by next week." Followed by more reassurances on 12 June, "First and foremost, we want to apologize for having to send another email about a delay with your order. Rest assured, YOUR order is our top priority." Then on 19 June "I see this was returned to the warehouse but not sure why they havent given me the ok to reship yet. Ill reach out to my contact in the morning and get this resolved." 20 June "I got it figured out, pushing this onto the truck today to head your way. Transit times are between 3-5 business days from my estimation." FINALLY the engine shows up 9 July. But guess what - the engine oil cooler is busted as it sits on the shipping container. It is a +$400 OEM part that I find for just over $300 including tax and shipping. I figure no problem SWEngines has a warrantee program. Right? - On 11 July, I requested that SWEngines simply pay for the replacement oil cooler part. I sent pictures and the invoice for the part from eBay. Their response on 13 July was, "Please be informed that we will get the engine return. Please get the engine ready for pick up so that return label will be sent to you." I have to prepare the engine and pay to have it sent back to SWEngines and either request a refund - assuming they acknowledge responsibility - or pay to have a replacement shipped to me. What kind of a warrantee is that?? I cannot count the number of times I called SWEngines trying to get help. I cannot count the number of times I was told the someone would get back to me and never once did. read more

Check by your self , google your specific engine and you will find that engine in different shops or junkyard all over the country so when you buy an engine from SWEngines they will order to those affiliates and then you will get it , The chances are that engine will come defective , internal parts broken , burned engine , water inside on the engine and you name it. Most evil, lying, conniving people I have ever encountered. Over 2 months ago, they took all of my money and sent me 2 core engine. I was told (as advertised) that I would get a quality low miles/ used engine. First had broken timing chain, rusted rocker arms, metal in the oil pan, broken fan, among other things. They won't stress activating it either so you lose out. This is a realistic review for this company. You just have to be careful and read the "fine print." We purchased a motor from SWEngines and had issues with the engine. We called when we had the issue and they began the warranty process. They dropped the ball because after a month with no feedback I follow up and they tell me it's on the way you will get a tracking next day.... like other reviews state. I'm happy we have the engine warranty, but this is where I talk about the "fine print" I'm pretty sure they talk about the 5 year extended warranty and everyone including (Elvis in his grave) would like this warranty. They have a portion on invoice that gives you 10 days to fill out and activate the warranty or lose it for good. We did not fill out the portion because that was sent to the shop the vehicle being repaired went to. Our fault for not activating that warranty. I'm pretty sure they hope people forget or don't see it because anyone would activate a warranty. It would be stupid not to. Like I said they are working with us, but I felt I had to give some honest feedback. Scott Green is the warranty manager. Scott was not rude, but probably could care less because have it in "fine print" about being Shit out of luck. Also, mentioned no one above him. Do not trust these guys. They sold a bum engine then would not cover the parts needed to make the repairs so it would run again. We drove 3800 miles on an engine that supposedly had 38,000 miles and the check engine light came on and there were issues with the camshaft in bank two phasers and sensors. $1900 of repairs needed, they claim their warranty only covers $610 worth of the parts and labor! After I paid a little more for this engine because of the warranty coverage! MAJOR RIP OFF! I have to say that ordering the engine was easy and even got a $200 discount and the shipping was within the time they said it would be. BUT....when the engine arrived you could surely tell it came from a northern state, for an engine that only has 85.000 on it it surely is rusty. And a few of the parts were broken. My biggest problem with them is the warranty, you can almost forget about it unless you do every little thing they say. The one thing is from the time the engine arrives you have 10 days to have it in and running or no warranty. Now ol Bubba down the street sitting in his shed with a beer in his hand might be able to put it in in 10 days but a Reputable shop that has a lot of business you have to wait till they get the chance to put it in and it might take them longer than 10 days and in my case it did. When I called them they didn't care "VOID WARRANTY" even though my shop wire brushed and painted all the rust, replaced parts and ALL the gaskets it didn't matter. I guess they want you to just throw it in and fire it up. They say they have the best warranty in the business, I think not oh and BTW you can forget about getting the money back on your core because it will cost you more to ship it back than you paid for the core deposit so they get another $500 out of you. And I'm not going to get into how rude they talk to you from ordering to the warranty dept. If you can find another used engine place use them even if it costs a little more but make sure you ask fully about there warranty or you might get screwed over by them too. read more

I have had the same experience with this company as everyone that has posted here. I was sent at first a bad motor that was labeled "for parts only" and then another motor was sent that had 140,000 miles while the sales contract was for a motor with 64,000 miles. After I refused the 2nd motor they refunded part of the money but still kept $1488. This was completely on them to supply me with a motor as advertised but they miserably failed to do so. I made many calls without getting through to anyone but or no response - within an hour or so of filing a complaint with the State of Wisconsin there was a response from their lawyer who was evidently just waiting for this complaint. They seem to only exist to rip people off. If that is not bad enough they have a lawyer that is corrupt enough to defend them. The State of Wisconsin wants to be rid of them but for some reason have not been successful. Mr Howard Phillips is more than willing to assist anyone with complaints. It may also help to address this to your credit card company and see what they can do to stop honoring sales through companies like this. If they want to respond that is fine but as usual they will deny they have done anything wrong. read more

1 star because negative is not available. My story is the same as everyone. There is no way to get in contact with the tracking or warranty department. It will put you on hold for 10-15 minutes then hang up on you. The only department that will answer is the ordering departments, and when ask any other information other then ordering they would rudely transfer the call back to their other 2 department with no one answer the phone of course. I've left 3 voicemails to their tracking department and sent out 2 emails to the company and still no response. Before ordering my engine I got as promised 7-10 days to receive it, after ordering I was then told it would take 10-14 business days, it's now been 18 days. It wasn't till after I order the engine that I'm reading all these negative reviews especially about their warranty. So now every phone call I make to them I'm recording it and letting the representative know that the call is being recorded before hand. So if anything that they don't hold up their ends with the warranty you will have the recording for court. I've read a few case where people have to take this company to court. SO RECORD AND DOCUMENTS EVERYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE FAST AT TAKING YOUR MONEY BUT DONT HOLD THEIR ENDS IN DELIVERING WHAT WAS PROMISED. The SW Engines staff are no more detailed oriented as they are an honest company. After waiting weeks after the promised delivery of two different engines we ordered at the same time, we finally received them. One of the engines they sent us was defective upon arrival however, we could not know that until our tech installed it. The engine inspection on the invoice they sent was falsified information as the checklist shows items checked off that were not done to that engine and two of their checked boxes indicate parts were inspected that do not exist on the said engine. We contacted SW Engines regarding this warranty claim more than 40 different times over the last 6 months to get resolution, as well as sending a certified letter to contact them for resolution. We have been hung up on, transferred to warranty departments to be hung up on again, left messages that have also gone unanswered still. Twice we submitted the warranty claim report information they requested with verification emails returned to us saying they were in receipt of the warranty report forms. As of today, we have never gotten any response from the company or had any of our communication replied to. We have disputed the charges with our financial institute, in the process of the dispute they responded to our bank once with the wrong invoice and engine information. Our bank has also tried to reach them many times to be hung up on and ignored as well. We have gone to extreme measures to contact them in every possible way that we can. As we expressed to SW Engines, the time for replacement is far too late, we are more than willing to send back their bad engine at their expense and demand a full refund for the bad engine we received. read more

Well, I bought a motor from these guys without reading the reviews. In short; my motor took a while to come in, but i agreed to that when i bought it (covid and all). Motor came in, pallet was undamaged. Went into my old silverado with no problems, aside from it coming out of a van rather than a truck, so that cost me extra at the mechanic. The motor with 90k on it was half the price of a remanufactured motor with about half the wait time. A month later, no issues in the motor. I'd be lying if I said these guys did me dirty at all, so far very happy with the motor. read more
