I wish I could give 0 stars. This is regarding Dr Jones. I had a wisdom tooth extraction (4 teeth)…read moreat Santa Barbara Center for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (by Dr Jones) on July 18th. When I came out of surgery no one had told me what had happened. Eventually we found out 5 days later that it was a "code brown" situation while I was under anesthesia. Dr Jones eventually admitted to pushing my upper left wisdom tooth too far and lodging it into my upper cheek where they then had to "dig" it out of the buccal space. I wasn't able to breastfeed my 9 month old for 10 days due to being on heavy pain killers for a week longer than they anticipated. I eventually ran out of milk supply. I was completely numb in my left cheek, upper lip, left upper teeth for almost a year. Dr later admitted to this happening only one other time in her 15 year career and admitted this was a rare complication/mistake, but despite how rare and severe of a complication, I didn't see her in person until 11pm on Friday the 22nd when I called her (for the 6th time) because I had very extreme pain in the upper left of my mouth and head. During the week we had called her office several times with concerns and emailed her with updated photos of my face but no one asked me to come into the office to be seen. This was so incredibly stressful on me and my family and I would hate for this to occur with anyone else. I wish there would've been much more attention to this matter. Rather I felt like this serious and rare complication was minimized and dismissed.

I live in Los Angeles and drive to Santa Barbara to see her (as does my entire family). She is an exceptional oral surgeon--meticulous, thoughtful, kind, and patient. She takes her time, never makes you feel rushed, and makes sure you understand exactly what's happening and why. I'm very nervous about dental procedures, but her calm approach and attention to detail got me through it. The quality of her work has been outstanding, and I am grateful to be in such capable hands. If you're looking for technical excellence with genuine care for patients, Dr. Naval is the absolute best!

If you're considering double jaw surgery, look no further than Dr. Michael Gunson and Lori Heinze…read morein Santa Barbara / Goleta--they are truly the best in the field. They take on the toughest cases, and I am beyond grateful that my Ohio orthodontist referred me to them. I had double jaw surgery (DJS) at age 56 with Dr. Gunson, and I could not have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and care. The entire process--from my initial consultation in January 2022, to my surgery in March 2024, throughout my follow up care to my one-year final appointment in March 2025--was exceptional. My recovery was easier than I expected, and the results have been life-changing. I no longer suffer from daily headaches, neck, or shoulder pain. My severe snoring disappeared overnight--I now sleep peacefully through the night for the first time in years. People often tell me I look ten years younger! But the biggest, most immediate difference? As soon as I woke up from surgery, I took one deep breath in and knew it had worked. My airway was increased by four times in size, and for the first time, I could breathe fully and freely. Dr. Gunson is a brilliant, meticulous, and compassionate surgeon who specializes in these procedures, and his expertise is evident at every step. Lori Heinze and the entire team (Carol, Kim, Jasmine) are incredibly kind, intelligent, and hardworking--they made me feel completely supported throughout the entire journey. My only regret? Not doing this years ago! I was nervous and kept putting it off, but now, knowing what I do, I would have done it sooner without hesitation. If you are considering jaw surgery, trust Dr. Gunson and his team--you will be in the best hands possible. A million thank yous to Dr. Gunson, Lori Heinze, and the entire staff! You gave me a new quality of life, and I will forever be grateful. Highly, highly recommend I give Gunson a 10/10 Rating! Angela Thomas (Ohio)

She is everything you need in a esthetic provider. She's knowledgeable, gentle, conservative, and kind. If ever in need of all things fillers and Botox, come and see her.

He kept ruining my wife's and my teeth by performing more and more unnecessary work to milk us and take us for as much as he could. He sent us to numerous dental/oral specialists in Santa Barbara for unnecessary and worthless second opinions. "Your dentist must have loved money" since none of the extensive work he did and the money you spent have been necessary and many of them have caused more harm.
