Tea time!

The service is exceptional, the food is really good. You could feel the Russian atmosphere in this place. Highly recommended

Exotic Pineapple Sweet Chili Chicken
Micaelly A.

This was my first experience trying this particular cuisine. I had the exotic pineapple chicken and thought it was yummy -- not too impressive but certainly good. My husband had the lamb chops and was not happy. He has tried this cuisine before and was quite underwhelmed by this restaurant (reason for the 3 star review). The dumplings were also underwhelming. Overall I thought the place was beautiful, gave a nice vibe, the staff was friendly! Solid experience.

Eggplant salad. Colorful, about 3 of 5 stars, didn't finish or take home.

Date Night! After a long session of silence asking my wife where to go for dinner, we decided originally on Chinese and had a place picked out. Then, we had a change of plans for a place and type of cuisine that we've never had and we picked out going to Suzani. We had a very nice meal. The restaurant is BYOB, and we felt like we were the minority as we seemed to be the only ones speaking English! There were numerous large families having a very good time drinking, eating, and having good conversation. I think many were "in the know" about Suzani and we were just discovering it. Wife and I came with our case of Redds Black Cherry, and first we needed some descriptions of the food from our young waitress. She was very helpful with everything, and her only negative was that water was never brought to the table. The restaurant was having a prix fixe 3-course grand opening "expansion" menu, but the Yelp discount check-in price was only good Monday through Friday. Decided on going with the menu. Started with some awesome bagel-type bread and ended up buying another one. Hot, fresh, and airy, this bread a a major hit. My Bigard Salad (smoked duck breast, crispy brushwood, sweet rainbow from carrot and red cabbage in fried onion sauce, raspberry, and plum) was really good. Very colorful (see my picture) and the smoked duck tasted a lot like ham to me. Wife's eggplant salad (fried eggplant, red and green pepper, garlic, and coriander served with vegetable oil) was also just as colorful, and really good, but not as good as mine. This was not fully eaten, or taken home. Both salads were huge. Wife also saw a picture in the menu of something she thought looked good and ordered it. Turned out to be Uzbek Plov, which is rice with carrots, and meat on top. This was very tasty and almost reminded me of a simple peasant food. The carrots were really good and meat tender and flavorful. The two kebabs we got, shrimp and lamb, had one hit, and one miss. The shrimp was overdone and just meh. However, the lamb was a hit with raw red onion and a red sauce served in an espresso cup which was good. Almost tasted Greek with a forkful of lamb, onion, and the bread. Overall, we had a very nice time at Suzani, and would be back again. $62 including tip, no drinks as we brought our own.

I really like Uzbek food. As it's very similar to middle eastern in general but with a twist. The appetizers for me were even better than food. We got Bakhour salad which was amazing with quail eggs and beans tongue. Egg pant salad was more than good. Both the beef dumplings and samsa were very tasty. Also we got beef tongue and the potatoes with mushroom sauce as appetizers and both were exceptional. As an entree we got the special grilled mix kabab which was good but not the best. The service was good in the beginning but later it became a little bit slow but still was good and staff were nice.

Beef stroganoff

We were suffering from withdrawal after returning to Beijing from a trip to Russia... imagine our surprise when we moved back to Philly and discovered that there's a far better selection of former Soviet nation cuisine here than in Beijing! Suzano compares very favorably to several of the Uzbek places we ate at in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kazan; great flatbreads, excellent plot, flavorful soups. The Russian dishes are good but not quite the same quality; for example, the stroganoff was decent but very heavy.

Ceiling at Suzani

Went to Suzani based on how good the food looked on Yelp pics. Was not disappointed! Not only was the food delicious but the decor was beautiful and the staff and friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. Hard to tell is my favorite was the dumplings or the dessert though the chicken kebab was delicious too.

Love that creamy beef Tougue. And the lamb chop! Unique experience with Uzbek food. Great place to try different culture food

Borsch soup

My friend and I were seated right away. We weren't even seated for 5mins and the waitress asked if we're ready to order. I told her it was our first time here and give us more time. I noticed the beautiful tapestries hanging on the wall by the booths. The booth seats are far from the table but you can move the booth closer. This place is byob and has a big parking lot. I ordered borsch soup which has beets, beef, and veggies. It was delicious and hearty. I was nervous about how the beets would taste but it didn't even taste like beets I also had the samsa with beef.. it reminded me of an empanada but just their version of it lol- delicious too! My friend got her entree but I had to wait 15-20mins for m Plov.. there was a large party present but only 2 waitresses. Our waitress did apologize for the wait. The Plov was buttery and flavorful but not worth the wait and not something for me to rave about. Cheesecake was ok. Everything was good until we received our entrees. Overall I had a good experience and don't mind trying more items

Interior. Beautiful set and nostalgia for many
Maruf B.

Love the dish, love the set and Interior. I really miss the genuine Uzbek and Russian dishes where we from. I just got off the airplane with my family and we're starving, and after searching online this place showed up first... I saw the images and they bought me right away As soon as we walked into the place we were welcomed with warm smile and were seated. Menu is incredible they have all types of meal from across Middle East to European fine food. Once the waitress took our order our apetizers were coming in and was soooo delicious and the rest of myths course. Defiantly recommend everyone to stop by and check them out. Really good place.

Samsa with beef $2.5
Matt R.

Can't say enough good things about my experience here. I can't personally validate the authenticity becuase I've never been to Uzbekistan but it the dishes served were unlike anything I've had. We started with some bread and butter which was a warm huge roll that looked like an oversized everything bagel with the hole filled in. We order seven separate dishes in total which arrived in no real discernible order. As we've never had this cuisine we couldn't tell the different between what was an appetizer and entree. The samsa was next which we each got one. It was a flaky, crispy hot pastry stuffed with chopped very tender thin strips of sirloin (think cheesesteak meat) and onion along with tasty seasoning. The Kazan kabab came out relatively early and was excellent 6 small pieces of bone in lamb on a sizzling fajita-style plate with oiled/buttered up potato slices. Some onion on there too. The dolma with sour cream was very tasty, an excellent balance between salty, savory and a touch sour. Tender grape leaves with cooked meat stuffed inside. The real prize of the show was the sautée from lamb leg (see pic). This was incredible and the waiter talked about how it was the real deal. It came out later on during then leisurely paced outing. We almost forgot we ordered it. We also ordered a dish that a looked like a form of Eastern European lasagna. That was good too but we were getting full by that time. Just expect an out of the box leisurely paced dinner. Not a place to rush through dinner like an American and be open to trying new dishes. BYO.

Beef, chicken, lamb, salmon, and vegetable. Served with a housemade tomato sauce (ask for the hot sauce if you can handle it!)

My family stumbled upon this restaurant on groupon, and it might be my single favorite groupon discovery. I can't really attest to the authenticity of the food, but I can guarantee that anything you get here will be cooked perfectly and delicious. I first went with my brother and parents. I had only tried Uzbekistan cuisine once before, so we stayed to the staples: lots of kebabs and more familiar dishes like rice plov, and grilled fish. To start, we got a beef and a duck salad. The greens were pretty fresh with just the right amount of dressing mixed in, and the slices of meat on both the salads were tender. We also ordered a plate of manti, Uzbek meat dumplings served with sour cream. The manti were soft and delicious, not lacking on meat at all and complemented the richness of the sour cream well. The plov, a rice dish with chunks of beef and bell pepper, may have been the most surprisingly delicious entree. It may not look anything special, but the rice was so flavorful and yummy I could have eaten a plate after plate of it. It must've been cooked with some of the juices or broth from the meat because it had such a savory flavor. I am 100% a meat person and the fact that I can't stop raving about this rice over the beef has gotta tell you something. My parents ordered a grilled branzino, which was moist and drizzled with a nice sauce. While it was good, the real stars of the dinner were the many kebabs we got: beef, chicken, lamb, lamb ribs, and salmon, all of which were seasoned perfectly and delicious. To eat with the kebabs, we ordered one of the circular bread loaves which came out crusty and hot. The meat came with a boat of housemade tomato sauce, which as great by itself, but if you're a fan of spicy food, I would absolutely recommend asking for some of the house made sautéed chili/hot sauce. Mixed with the tomato sauce or even the sour cream, it took an already amazing meal to another level. Suzani is one of the few restaurants where everything I have eaten, from the basic to the weird (like cow tongues!) has been perfect. The prices are fair and service is nice. I'm looking forward to coming back here regularly.

Plov House is a…read moresmall 9-table 24-hour place but was brightly lit and appeared clean with white tablecloths and plastic covers. Single page menus on the table, and customers were constantly in and out. Surprisingly, every customer coming in was a young male, some singles but most in groups. There's a couple of large refrigerators full of food in containers ready to go. After some language barrier ordering, we ended up pointing to what we wanted on the menu. I tell you EVERYONE who came in ordered Plov and bread. We did, too. Along with the assorted kebabs, lagman soup, and two Samsas. The soup was tomato based with homemade long noodles, beef, celery, peppers, onions, carrots, and celery. Had to alternate between a fork and spoon to eat it. The bread was extra tasty and was great to dip in the soup. The kebabs were fresh, very tender, and came with onion and some pickled hot peppers. My wife liked her samsa but I was getting full and took mine home. But the star of the night was the Plov with the most tender and flavor filled slow cooked rice with lamb, beef, carrots, and onions. I could see why most come in and just order it for however many were in their party. It's that good. Best I've had so maybe as others mentioned it was a fresher batch made. With two bottle Cokes and a wonderful pot of black tea, our meal came to $77 including tax and a small upcharge for credit card payment. Tip was left in cash. I will say that the prices on the bill were slightly higher than what was listed on the menu so be mindful of this. For instance, menu Plov is $14.99 but bill Plov is $16.19. Menu tea is $1.99 but bill tea is $2.15. You have to know that when most of the customers are holding court in their language enjoying their food in a constant stream, that Plov House is doing something right. The service was quite friendly. Highly recommended.

Notice the 503 five-star reviews on Google Reviews but just four of them on Yelp, where it is much harder (but not impossible) to post fake reviews, LMAO! And notice that almost all of the five-star reviews posted all over the Internet heap the same suspicious praise, commit the same grammatical errors, and were posted from accounts that have few if any other reviews, which suggests that they were written by the same person, perhaps the owner (again, LMAO!). As for my family's experiences with the food, it is days-old and microwaved, never fresh despite being extremely expensive compared to the competition. The beef and so-called lamb were rancid tasting, dry, and tough. The vegetables were generally wilted and old. The bread is greasy and hard (stale?). The $10 to $19 soups taste worse than a $1 can of Campbell's! No joke! The $5 salads have about 30 cents worth of mostly expired veggies. The only decent tasting product was the lemonade but it is very hard to mess that up as Chef Gordon Ramsay likes to say. But for $5 a pop? The restaurant itself is filthy, old, and dated. Lots of disgusting safety violations were cited by the city in their latest health inspection (click the attached screenshot or visit the site for the Philadelphia Office of Food Protection to read the inspection report). We peaked at the inside of the kitchen when the door was open behind the restaurant, and it was gross and disgusting! You would never eat here if you saw what we saw! The staff was friendly and welcoming but the food is what counts and it sucks on steroids. The $5 value meal at the fast food chain across the street tastes infinitely better than the $17 to $26 meals that my family ate here. Literally. And the $5 meals were more filling. Maybe Plov House should change their cooks and start selling fresh food instead of microwaved leftovers? There are several far superior nearby restaurants, even a few within the same shopping center. Anyone who has posted a good review must be a relative or foreigner who believes that boiled rate is a delicacy.

Many disgusting violations were noted in Tandoori's most recent health inspection reports (click…read morethe screenshots). This review is for the three adjoining Tandoori businesses in the same shopping center (Bakery, Grill, and Grill Market). I have seen, heard, and smelled huge rats by the back doors of all three businesses when I walked behind the shopping center, hence the failed health inspections as proven above. I have found traces of dirt and other contaminants in the food, which was also suggested by the health inspectors' findings. The meat is very fatty; it should be called "fat", not "meat"! The meat can also sometimes be spoiled. The bread is oily and too hard (stale?). The vegetables are usually great. But everything is grossly overpriced. And some items are way too salty, as if the chef is trying to cover up the bad flavors by adding too much salt? The three stores themselves are beautiful, new, modern, and clean looking (although the above-noted health inspection reports prove otherwise). The prices actually charged are often higher than advertised (classic bait-and-switch). Some staff members are rude, slow, and/or impatient. And good luck at communicating with them if you do not fluently speak their native language. I believe that Tandoori survives only because their customers are uninformed foreigners who believe that boiled rat is a delicacy! NOTE TO YELP: I am a real consumer trying to inform other real consumers. Please do not delete this honest, sincere review just to be politically correct. The truth hurts!

The waiter was nice and pretty knowledgeable. Our seat and area had some rice from a previous party but the waiter cleaned it up quickly. We were recommended the bread and the samsa. The bread sounded pretty good, but flavor wise very mild with a tiny hint of sweetness. It certainly is delicious eaten warm though. Super crispy with a soft inside. It pairs very well with the Korean style short rib as it soaks up the sauce nicely. The samsa was pretty good. The crunchy crust with the pastry that encircles some meat and onions seems similar to the bread they serve. It comes with a sweet salsa. The flavor was nice, well seasoned but nothing too exciting. The beef short ribs were really good. There was about 6-7 pieces but they are not the skinny short ribs you see at Korean places. These were thick slices packed full of delicious fatty flavor with a kick of sweet and savory. No rice came with it but the bread you order is amazing with this as it helps cut the fattiness and grease of this dish. Lastly we had the kebabs. The sauce was the same sweet salsa with the samsa. It would be nice if they had other sauces that can be equally refreshing or something spicy could work too. The lamb nicely cooked and well seasoned. It was a solid dish that Lamb lovers would sit well with. All in all a great place with pretty reasonable prices. Excited to come back and try something else. You wouldn't regret trying it.

We got a few to try - the liver appetizer, eggplant salad, lagman and bread. - The Turkish liver was cooked and seasoned well. - The eggplant was warm and tossed in a cold salad. I liked it. The oil was surprisingly flavor ful. - The lagman portions were small for the price paid. It was also SO oily and could use a bit more salt. Flavors were not bad otherwise. - The bread was $3.50 for a small portion that I'm pretty sure I could get for much cheaper from the bakery next door. Upon entering the foyer, there were two doors. It was not immediately clear as to which one I should proceed thru, I chose the door that said "NO SMOKING" and it took me into a nicely decorated dining room. The waitress was a nice enough young lady with somewhat limited English skills. She could take our orders but it was difficult to have a more detailed conversation about the food. For example, I was concerned about the the Khachapuri (cheese filled bread) that I had preordered. Sometimes, this bread is served with a raw egg on top. I did not want this and spoke to the waitress about it. She seemed to understand what I was talking about. However when it was served, there was no raw or cooked egg on top to be worried about whatsoever. We specifically went to Oasis to try their Chicken Tabaka (small chicken fried in garlic). It was very good in that it was juicy, had a lot of flavor, and had a nice, crunchy sear. We had the Achuk-chuk (tomato and onion salad), delicious, Eel salad (basic spring mix salad with "sushi" eel and sauce on the side, ok/basic. We also ordered the Armeninan Eggplant salad but it never came out. We weren't charged for it either, so the order must have been lost in translation. If you like cheese, you'll like the Khachapuri as it was more cheese than bread. My group liked it a lot. We then had the rice pilaf with beef and lamb, chicken heart kabob, the ground lamb kabob, and samsa (baked "dumpling" w/ lamb and partially cooked onions). All were tasty. I'd like to go back and try their other dumplings/pierogies, soups, and more kabobs. The samsa, chicken tabaka, rice pilaf with beef and lamb, Khachapuri, and Achuk-chuk were our favorites. BYOB
