They have catered our holiday tables more than once, including Passover, and everything was done with such care and respect. That means a great deal to our family. As former New Yorkers ourselves, we know and miss good, authentic food, so we are not easy to impress. Uzbekistan Restaurant truly makes us happy and reminds us of the flavors we grew up with. We are so grateful to have them in Philadelphia and recommend them from the heart!

We pulled into a shopping plaza and saw our destination - Suzani. I had never eaten in an Uzbeki restaurant - our friends, who had eaten there before said "...come hungry!" They recommended a few appetizers - we ordered the Potato with Mushrooms, Eggplant Salad, Achichuk, and Kutab. Let's start with the Potato with Mushrooms - which the menu describes as "Fried Potato Slices with Pan Roasted Mushrooms and Onions. It should say "Potato Chips with Pan Roasted Mushrooms". It was a very unusual dish, to say the least. While the chips were homemade and tasty, having roasted mushrooms and onions with them didn't work at all for me. It was difficult scooping mushrooms onto the chips - and the combination was not that tasty. The mushrooms and onions would have been better by themselves. Once the chips got soggy from the mushrooms, it was very unappetizing. Next, the Eggplant Salad - which was fried eggplant, red and green pepper, tomato, Korean style carrots, garlic and cilantro served in a soy sauce. It tasted fine - I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but the veggies tasted fresh and I had some of the bread they served with it. The next appetizer was Achichuk, which is a traditional Uzbek salad of thinly sliced tomatoes, hot peppers and onions. I did not taste the dish, but was told it was okay for spiced fresh tomatoes. The last appetizer was Kutab - which was a flattened shell, which tasted and resembled the exterior of a fried dumplings, with meat and onions on the inside. It was super thin, and tasted okay. We ordered our main dishes after we finished the appetizers. The couple we were with both ordered the Salmon Kabobs - I tasted the salmon, it tasted good, and was tender. I ordered the Lamb kabobs - the lamb was tender, but it was a little too salty. However, when I had a piece of the lamb with the saffron rice, it diminished the saltiness of the lamb and tasted fine. My partner ordered the Filet Mignon kebab. It did not come with the other 3 orders - the sever said it would be out momentarily. Almost 15 minutes later, I was amazed my partner didn't have her entree! I gave the server a 'look' - she went in the back and FINALLY brought out my partner's dish. The meat (Filet Mignon) was tough and difficult to chew. I took a piece of my Lamb kabob to compare - my lamb was very tender compared to the steak! Not only was the order overly delayed - it was below average. While the other dishes were acceptable - they were mediocre. I would like to point out we were there during the dinner hour and we were the ONLY patrons there during the entire dinner. I wasn't surprised.

We had a group of about 26 people in the whole restaurant. We were spit up at tables of six people per table. Each table was set apart with ample distance, this is unusual for Russian restaurant and was much appreciated. The servers were masks at all times. Service was superb - every request granted immediately. Food was good as usual. I was happy to see Randevu adopt to the ever-changing world and have safety measures in place that made it easy to still have a party and not be overly worried.

The market items are in front and left of the store. The deli counter and bakery cases are further in the shop and along the right wall. There were tables towards the back left. The register is up front. The man who rang me up at the register today was polite and friendly. This was my first time shopping here. I had a good experience and there's quite a variety of products sold. Hoping to try out the bakery and deli soon. Would recommend just for the sweets and international market items here.

I was a little surprised it had boards with cheese-charcuterie and meats. I saw some nice appetizers and chose a sandwich as well. I started with the Artichoke Hummus with Feta and Grilled Focaccia - it was excellent! Large chunks of artichoke with the creamy hummus and little balls of feta were such a great combination. However, it was the Grilled Focaccia that brought the spread to its peak. Light and slightly crunchy it was so delicious with the hummus! Next up, the Pistachio Herbed Ricotta with Lavender Honey Bruschetta. I took my first bite started to chew and had to close my eyes as I was transported to a 'heavenly' taste. The pistachio with the creamy ricotta was amazing, and with the lavender honey, it was over the top. I told the server it could be a dessert as well! After two great appetizers, I was really looking forward to my 'main dish' - the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Cabot Cheddar, fresh tomato and arugula, and a truffle herbed aioli (I opted out of the bacon). I took a bite and of this thick smoked chicken breast with a fabulous aioli dressing and was delighted it was every bit as delicious as the appetizers! Overall nothing was super special, but it was a nice spot to stop in and have a drink and a bite. Would consider coming back if I'm killing time in the area.
