Went here for the first time last night with a friend. It's located in downtown Yucaipa, street parking, and has a lot more seating inside than I expected which was nice. It was also pretty busy but we were served very timely and with great customer service. They had a pop up food vendor outside which was fun and made for a nice dinner out. I am not super into wine but they had a great white wine that was fruity that I was able to enjoy while my friend had the tasting. I would come back with other wine lovers for sure. read more

Suveg Cellars is a hidden gem in the Inland Empire. Who knew there were wineries in Yucaipa? And, a great winery to be more precise. My husband and I have been wine club members for 2.5 years and we both love this place. The quality of Craig's wines is superb. Every wine is carefully crafted to take the test of time. Red wines are aged for 3-5 years before bottled, and white wines are also delicious and in some cases also barrel aged, which we love. A great example is their Roussanne, which is absolutely delicious. The service is beyond excellent. Devin is not only knowledgeable, but also very personable. Craig, Devin and Sean are always welcoming and attentive. There are special events almost every weekend, from jazz music to charcuterie vendors there is always something fun going on at the winery. The food options are limited to some pre-packed cheese, cold meats and olives, but you can bring food or order from a local restaurant and have the food delivered. If you enjoy big, bold quality wine, I highly recommend giving Suveg Cellars a try. You will not be disappointed, read more

This was a gem of a find for us. Somehow, my wife started receiving email information from Suveg Cellars about a year ago and we were finally able to stop by to do some tasting. Winemaker and Owner, Craig Suveg, provides an amazingly detailed explanation of his wines current, past, and upcoming releases. WINES: All of Craig's wines have playful names, like "Pardon My French", "Meet Your Maker", "Problem Child", "Straight Jacket", etc., and there's a story that goes along with each one. Currently, they offer two whites, a Pinot Grigio and a Viognier. Both are crisp and tasty, but we're not big white wine drinkers. On the other hand, Craig's red wines; Barbera, Nero D'Avola, Sangiovese, Super Tuscan, Primitivo, and Petit Verdot, are absolutely fantastic. The 2017 Super Tuscan "Strait-Jacket" was just released two weeks ago and is a must try. We loved all Suveg's reds, so much in fact, that we became wine club members. SERVICE: We've had the fortune of having Craig assist us on our visits, and he's been very accommodating and pleasant company. Unfortunately, the large indoor tasting room is currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions, however they have a nice little patio in front and it's even been expanded to a couple more high-top bar tables with umbrellas for some shade. They do offer some small-bite food items, but again they're not currently available. Inside, there's one restroom, which is spacious and decorated in various wine motif. In the back of the building, you'll find a barrel room with stacks of their delicious grape juices just waiting to be bottled and enjoyed. As I state about all wineries I visit, the wines are subjective to your personal taste, but service is not. We love Suveg's wines and I highly encourage you to give them a try. At the very least, you'll enjoy a nice afternoon sipping wines in the quaint, historic downtown of Yucaipa. read more

We hit Yucaipa for some solid apple picking, heading out there from LA. We figured we'd finish the outing with some wine tasting. Suveg Cellars is a vineyard and winery run out of the owners' home. Entering can unsurprisingly be a bit awkward, since it involves pulling into a residential area in front of a house with no doorbell, walking past the garage and the pool, past the Cabernet vines, and into the cellar where the wine is made. That said, what's back is there is some great danged wine. The website can be a little confusing, so to be clear you do need to call them at the number on their site to setup an appointment to have a tasting. I forgot to ask how far in advance was required, but we called 4 days prior. We showed up late, and they were very accomodating. I think the strength of Suveg is the personalized experience. The winemaker, Craig, is really excited to talk about wine, and he really knows his stuff. I do want to caution they're not setup for people to get drunk on heavy pours, as you might on a wine tour in Solvang - and it's clear Craig isn't looking for that kind of customer. It'd probably be weird to get a bunch of people sloshed on your home property anyway. He's really looking to show his wine-making skills to people who like a good wine. For our tasting we had 6 wines, including a Viognier, Cabernet and Grenache, and most impressively a wine made primarily from blueberries, that most certainly smelled strongly of blueberry while still certainly being a wine. Like most good tastings it comes with some Trader Joes chocolate and cheeses. The wine comes from grapes (and blueberries) grown both on the property, and around southern and central California, and some of it is partly made off-site. Apparently the legal intricacies of selling wine are quite intense, and he's only allowed to use 25% of his own grapes in any given wine, until Yucaipa is certified as a designated Viticultural area. If he does land that certification, I wonder how much competition will dive into Yucaipa. My guess is Suveg will end up being a higher-end winery surrounded by several places for your more typical wine tasting customers looking to get drunk. read more

My boyfriend and I did an outdoor red wine tasting here. It was $20 per person and we enjoyed the experience. The wine tasting fee was waived since we each bought a bottle of wine. (Sibling Rivalry (Petit Syrah), and Strait Jacket Paso Robles (Super Tuscan). One of the owners who facilitated the wine tasting was very knowledgeable about the wine and also gave us an extra tasting from the wine membership bottles. I have been walking and driving this place for over a year. About two weeks ago I stopped by for a glass of wine. That glass was so good that I bought the bottle of the Liquid Assets for my mom. Today I brought both my mother and I stopped by for a flight tasting with light hors d'oeuvres. I'm new to wine but Devin was great and gave a little history of the wine we were tasting. We signed up and became members of the wine club. Of course we purchased a few bottles of the favorites that we tasted. Despite the heat which they have no control on weather. Yucaipa. Known for it's parks, churches, thrift stores, mountain views, winery...wait, what??? "Did he just say winery?" Yes. Yes I did. Having recently moved to the area from Rancho Cucamonga, one of the first things I did was search for nearby wineries in the area. Unfortunately, my search did not yield any results. Fast forward to January of 2014 when I come across an article in the local paper re: Yucaipa's first winery. Score!!! Suveg Cellars recently opened to the public, and currently offers private tastings by appointment only. I had the pleasure of visiting the winery this past weekend and was not disappointed! The owners were gracious hosts and very knowledgeable about their wines. It's obvious they have put a lot of time and effort into their business. I love that they have their own vineyards and have built a small but quaint tasting room. Now on to the wine! Our tastings consisted of 2 whites, 3 reds & a blueberry dessert wine. I was very impressed with the Viognier, Syrah & the Cab. I also enjoyed the blueberry dessert wine, which had a little tartness and was not too sweet. Craig described each wine and the history and process of making each wine while we enjoyed our tastings along with some cheese, crackers & chocolate prepared by his lovely wife Karen. Tastings are $10pp, but if you buy a bottle, the tasting fee is waived. Overall, this was a great experience that was close to home, and we will definitely be back. No need for the long drive to wine country! This place is a small piece of gold for an area that is in dire need of a great wine experience. If you want to learn about wine, talk to Craig; you'll learn about the passion behind his wine making. He knows what he's talking about -- and his wife (did not catch her name) is a total doll and will make you feel right at home!!! My boyfriend and I loved these award winning wines. From two Bay Area/Santa Barbara winos, we really, really enjoyed the Cab Sav and the Barbera and we bought both bottles. We're now looking into becoming members.
