I went to Dr. Satula for an in office Blepharoplasty on my left eye. That evening I called Dr…read more Satula at home because I was in extreme pain and my eye watered constantly. He told me to go to the ER or wait and see him in the morning. I suffered through the night and got a ride to his office first thing. He couldn't figure out what was wrong. He stopped the pain by putting a bandage contact lense on the eye. He told me to return in 8 days. Well when I returned on the 8th day Dr. Satula took one look at my eye and told me to get to Mass Eye Ear Infirmary Emergency room in Boston. I had a scratched cornea that developed a fungal and bacterial infection. The bandage contact lense Dr. Satula put on my eye harbored a slew of germs causing the infections. I have never had such pain in my life. I had to have an emergency corneal transplant and have lost sight in the eye. Please check your Doctor out thoroughly and always get a second opinion. I take my 96 year old mother here because Dr. Patel recently opened this business, used to be Dr. Sutula's but Boston Eye Group bought them out and Dr. Patel seems to be running it. She is awesome with the elderly and cares about her patients. She is an Optometrist and has a number of doctors working there as well. Met one doctor and didn't think much of him and only reason had to meet with him is it is required for a new patient to at least meet a doctor other than Optometrist so they can continue to subscribe medication. If you ask me it may be required but is just another way to waste Medicare money as it was not really needed for a 96 year old glaucoma patient, not like we are going to do anything given all is stable and going well. Dr. Patel I would trust, can't speak much of the other doctors although I used Dr. Sutula about 20 years ago for myself and he was fine at that time. Would have been 5 star rating if not for that one long wait time which is not acceptable when you have an incontinent elderly person with dementia. Hard enough getting them to the doctors, at least call and tell people you are running very late.

I went to Ferrucci Eye Associates this morning. Disclaimer: I have not received my new glasses yet,…read moreand I will update if my experience proves unsatisfactory. But for now, here is that experience: I arrived five minutes early, was greeted professionaly, courteously, and efficently, and given my forms to fill in. My wait in reception was less than ten minutes. In addition to the reception staff, the staff member who took my initial eye measurements was, too. In any case, Dr. Greg Ferrucci is phenomenal and you know fast that he is a real doctor, full on. He asked me the right questions to really learn about my particular eyes both visually and from a pure medical/physical standpoint, and then the first thing he did was find an astigma-related axis difference that apparently will help sharpen my prescription. The best part was when he hooked me up with very comfy disposable contacts for an hour so that I could try on frames and actually see what I was choosing. Literally, this was the first time in my 46 years of wearing glasses that any doctor has offered to help me in this way. It made a huge difference in the ease of picking the right eyeglass frames, and I am looking forward to getting them. On that note, lastly, the opticians there are great.

I have had 4 different incidents with them at the desk. We are a family of 4 that are all patients. We buy all our glasses and contacts through them. They have made a few mistakes long the way but they turn it around and make me feel like I did something wrong. The last incident was deceitful. I didnt want a procedure done. I signed saying that I didn't want it. I was told in the middle of the exam that I qualified for it and it would be free because he saw something on the eyes. I just got a bill for a copayment portion of the test that I was told would be free. They said it was an insurance issue not theirs. They should not be advertising things as free/covered when it isn't. They have an attitude when you ask any questions. Also I was talked down to when I showed up on time for my appointment but was told I was late because I didn't come 15 min early to fill out paperwork (existing patient) that took me 5 min and I waited to be seen for another 15 min. They were actually late!
