Horrible and dishonest dry cleaner. I went to have some tailoring done. The items were delivered dry cleaned (not requested) and the tailoring was not done. I needed the clothes to bring to Florida with me and he would not refund my money. My mother went in with a blanket and asked, "how much to dry clean this". He quoted $60. My mom took her blanket and walked across the street where they did it for $30. Stay away! read more

i gave sutton cleaners on 1st ave a try as i needed 3 rugs cleaned and my doorman told me about the really good job sutton did on my neighbors rugs over the year.they mostly do dry cleaning, laundry services and alterations which i may need soon or maybe later. the rugs are like new , dont smell like dog and clean totally. they told me my rugs would be ready the next day and dude behind the counter didnt lie and the prices to clean three rugs was more then fair. i recommend suttons cleaners for folks who prefer not to do laundry , etc. read more

Went here after reading a great yelp review on it. Dropped my dry cleaning off at 11:00am on a Friday. Asked for same-day service. I was told I could get my clothes back by 6:30pm that same night. I confirmed that they closed at 6:30pm and the guy said "yes". Later that day, rushed to the cleaners and got there for 6:21pm. They were closed- gate down, lights out, closed. It was a fashion emergency! The sign outside the door said they closed at 6:30pm. I failed to get my clothes for that night. Went back Saturday morning to get my clothes. Spoke with the same guy that I dropped them off with. Told him I came at 6:21 and the store was closed. I asked to speak with the manager and he told me he was the manager. He said he was there until 6:40pm. I told him no one was there at 6:21- I knocked and everything. The guy denied closing early. I didn't appreciate being lied too- I think I would have given Sutton Cleaners a chance if the guy had just admitted that he ducked out early on a Friday night. Oh well. Regardless if the service was quick and the employees were over-friendly, bed bugs in my laundry is absolutely disgusting. These are the most professional guys in the neighborhood and I have been a customer since the 80s. Whenever I have a special request, I can count on them to do it right, as opposed to most other dry cleaners who have a poor command of the English language and/or do not want to bother -- maybe because they send out a lot of their dry cleaning to contractors who probably wouldn't understand my request. For example, I once took some chinos to another place and asked that they be pressed without a crease; they came back with a crease on the sides! ;( The owners John and Bernie have a knowledge of fabrics and textiles that most dry cleaners do not. This counts for a lot when I bring in an expensive garment and want it treated properly. Also, Nelson the tailor is highly skilled and is a perfectionist like me; that's what I want when the fit has to be just right. read more

This is a great local cleaner, that has been around for decades. They have always done a great job no matter what the stain or mess. They are excellent at alterations too. Their master tailor sits right in the front window and he has fixed things for me that anyone else would say is beyond repair. And he makes it look like new! The owner, Bernie, is always at the counter. Knowledgable guy who is always enthusiastic with his customers and the work his shop does. This place is definitely an old school neighborhood dry cleaner. If you have a prized garment, this place will take care of you. read more

I moved to the Sutton area about 6 months ago and had been searching for a reliable dry cleaner. Sutton Cleaners is very close by, so I stopped in to drop off a few items on a whim - a formal bridesmaid dress and two sweaters. I was shocked when handed my receipt, with charges totaling over $130. At this point I was too embarrassed to walk out, so I handed over my card. My items were returned to me by delivery in fair time and in good condition - but nothing to justify the amount charged. I learned my lesson the hard (and expensive) way. read more

Experience the worst ever! This never ever happened to me with any NY cleaning services. Just brought back home three pieces that before cleaning had no specific stains. White Valentino pants stained with blue pencil, Gianfranco Ferre silk blouse with blue pencil stains and Michael Kors light wool dress irreparably stained again with blue pencil and ripped. I brought a dress with a tiny wine stain on it to Sutton Dry Cleaners. Bernard, one of the owners, of the dry cleaners insisted on soaking my whole dress in solution over the whole weekend, inspite of my concern. He said he has done this many times with a good result. The result was he ruined my dress. I can not wear it again. It has huge pink circles all over the bottom of it where only a tiny stain was when I brought it in. It is a designer dress from France which I paid over five hundred dollars, which he knew from the beginning that this was a designer dress. I asked to speak to him and he refused to call me back. This is not how you treat a loyal customer, who has given you business for years. I strongly recommend any present customers or new ones to think before they bring any of their clothes in. SIMPLY THE BEST CLEANERS IN NYC! The cleaning is superb! The tailoring is excellent! The service is amazing! Over the years I have tried many cleaners and have often been disappointed. Then I tried Sutton Cleaners and will never go anywhere else! Finally a dry cleaners who do great work, don't overcharge, and do not lose your stuff (the plant is on premises, so they clean and press everything right there and then deliver it to you!) When I bring them my clothes and linens I tell them exactly what I want done and they listen and actually do it! My dresses, pants and silk shirts look amazing, my husbands shirts and suits are superb, and my linens are crisp and beautiful! I am so grateful to have them as my cleaners! I've been to four cleaners in the area and these guys are easily the best. They take pride in what they do and always fix any problems with a smile. The cost is a little higher but their wash and fold service has consistently given me clean clothes, washed at an appropriate temperature to maintain longevity (most cleaners use HOT to clean faster), that smell great. With their shirt laundering service, the on site tailor repairs and replaces buttons as needed. Dry cleaning is effective. And they even washed a 9 year old down pillow so well that it appeared nearly new. These guys are true professionals. And it shows! read more

I came here with a long faux fur coat that had a strange smell after I got it back from a friend with stains on the lining, and also a Bebe coat that had a look of astrakhan, in a peach color but after a fire in the bar close by - via the opened windows turned grayish with smoke..... Though the cost is not on the cheap side, I decided to try it, based on past reviews AND the courtesy of the employee at the front desk (I must say that any business would love him: patient, courteous, understanding, humble and kind). Especially since it was President's Day and most of the stores were closed - and I was there near closing time I received the coats in the morning instead of late pm the day they were supposed to be delivered. WOW!!!! What a nice surprise! The long faux fur coat lost its smell and stains on the lining, and the Bebe Coat is back to its original color! I live 10 blocks away, and in Manhattan, there are cleaners every half a block! But I will not hesitate to take the bus or to call them (free pick up) from now on! I happened to be walking by just as a button fell off my overpriced blazer so I walked in with button in hand. I didn't have to say anything, the gentleman tailor in the front just took my jacket and stated sewing. The result was better than it was originally and both he and the manger refused to let me pay. Excellent service and results. I had a jacket inundated with paint and brought it to Sutton Cleaners with the outside chance that it could be cleaned using their in house dry cleaning.
