I've had a run of regrettable Mexican food and even though this place wasn't horrible, it could have been a whole lot better. Again, another spot that charges for chips and salsa. As I always say, if you charge, the chips and salsa better be stellar. Before we get to that let me tell you about the service. I asked the server which lunch entrée she would recommend between the carnitas tacos and the chicken taquitos. She recommend the taquitos. Service was kinda cold and we really didn't feel completely welcome. We placed our order and the server said she would be right back with water, chips and salsa. A few minutes later she came back with water, but no chips. A few minutes after that, she returned with our meals, along with chips and salsa. Kinda tacky, the whole point of an appetizer is to have it before your meal. That said, without a doubt the best chips I've ever had. Light, crispy and a really hearty stone ground flavor, seriously, without a doubt the best chips. It was served with two salsas. The red was smoky with a little kick, but it needed salt. The green was tangy and by tangy I mean tart. It also needed salt, but in the end, it was just sour. Well, the taquitos were dry, unseasoned and not appetizing. There was basically 3 pieces cut in half to make 6 small taquitos. I ate 3, but should have stopped after the very first bite. I really regretted ordering them and was further disappointed by her terrible recommendation. The rice and beans also had no flavor, and in the end, I have had fast food Mexican that taste way better than this. I know the server knew I wasn't pleased when my plate was barely touched and I was further frustrated by a service fee added to my check, without explanation. Maybe this is a trend, Mexican restaurants adding penalties and fees to the check without warning. Not a good way to run a business.

The beef and cheese arepa is so freaking good. And for some reason the arepitas keep calling me back. They're little unfilled deep fried arepas and they come out piping hot with some crema and I LOVE them. The staff speaks very little English and my Spanish is so bad on a good day, but they're so nice and we can still get the job done . I've never walked out of there without being stuffed and happy. They also have an event space...I'm like hell yeah if anyone wants to invite me to an event catered by Ricas...I will be your plus one!

The Rika Chicha was like if horchata and rice pudding had a delicious baby and was a perfect way to cut through the savory meal. The plantains were perfect on the side. Of the two, I preferred the Surena as it boasted more overall flavor for me. The meat in both cases was cooked well. I did find the arepa itself a bit greasy but the flavors were there. Service was friendly but when we needed to pay it took a bit to realize we had to go to the counter. However, I also appreciated that they let us take time to digest.

Amazing First Visit, Disappointing Second One! Be careful when ordering!…read more I heard so many great things about the infamous churrasco at this restaurant, so I made the trip and ordered it. My first visit (May 16th) was outstanding! The churrasco was a decent, juicy, and tender NY Strip Steak with perfect thickness, served over yuca fries, sweet plantains, and potatoes. The chimichurri on the side wasn't the authentic Argentinian recipe, but it was still good. I ordered it medium rare, exactly how I like it, and it was amazing, tasty, and delicious. (See photo #1.) Today (June 19th), I decided to stop by again--but it was a huge disappointment. The churrasco I received didn't taste like NY Strip Steak and tasted like the regular cheap meat you get when you go to a bad cheap Mexican restaurant and order the famous carne asada plate. It wasn't cooked to the medium temperature I ordered. The cut was extremely thin, almost like Carne Asada or Chuck Roast (the kind used for their $9.99 corrientazo or the meat they served on the "Bandeja Paisa plate" . It was dried, rubbery, and had no taste whatsoever. I mentioned the issue to the waiter and even showed him the meat while asking for the bill. He told me, "I'm sorry, today was your unlucky day , I will let them know"?. This is Unacceptable. A good restaurant management should approach the customer and replace the meal or not even charging ! He acknowledged it was completely wrong when he saw the meat and apologized sincerely. That honesty was appreciated, but it's stories like this that make a restaurant lose its reputation and push customers away. In my case, I'm now afraid to come back and waste my money. First photo: My amazing churrasco from May 5th. Photos 2 & 3: The disappointing churrasco from today (June 19th). I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves consistency. A great restaurant can easily become a great and reliable one with better attention to detail. Maybe the cooks picked the wrong meat or sliced it wrong? Just look at images 2 & 3 and compare the big difference--thin and dried! I'm a bit upset about wasting my money for pretty much garbage.
