Before the wedding, Katie had invited us to the shop to discuss what our vision was, what we were looking for, and to get a sense for our wedding vibe. Katie, owner of "Susi's Flowers" is AMAZING! Katie and her team were our florists for my daughter's wedding. They made gorgeous bridal party bouquets, flower girl floral crown, ceremony and reception floral arrangements, wedding arch décor arrangements, cocktail table bouquets, dessert table décor, memory tables décor and so MUCH more! The result was stunning! Exceeded our expectations! During our first meeting at Katie's shop, I happened to share that we were in a dilemma because my daughter's dream was to have the traditional French wedding cake, a "Croquembouche Pièce-montée." The problem was that the only French pâtissier anywhere near the wedding venue was over an hour away and could not provide delivery at that distance. Not expecting anything more than a sympathetic ear to our disappointment, Katie immediately said she could send one of her drivers to get the cake and deliver it to the venue since their floral trucks are set-up to keep flowers fresh, hence could do the same for a cream-puff tower! My daughter and I were speechless! Such incredible kindness! Katie made the most exquisite large floral arrangements for the circular "arch" used at the ceremony. The flowers she used provided the perfect color contrast to the sequoias in the background and the white guests chairs. Katie also provided beautiful votive holders and an array of candles of 3 different sizes which, incorporated with her centerpieces and additional greenery, turned the reception terrace into the most romantic and elegant setting! Additionally, Katie provided baskets to hold sun parasols and programs, and several chic serving trays for the petits-fours. In addition to her artistic gift, Katie has such a fantastic personality. She is a very passionate, energetic, and creative florist; an absolute delight to work with. Not only did Katie surpass our dream vision, but she did it within the budget we initially offered up. Called them on Tuesday 2/22/22 around 11am and asked if they had any red roses for that night I was going to propose. They told me no they were all out, but they said let them check with their grower and they would call me back within an hour. With in an hour they called me back and told me they can get it from their grower. I asked if they could have it at shadowbrook restaurant by 4pm and they said that would not be a problem. Can't say enough good things about Susi's flowers, and especially Katie! Our wedding flowers turned out beautifully. I must have changed my mind about the color palette and flower choices three or more times yes, but Katie never showed frustration with me period for that I am grateful. At one point two weeks before my wedding, I wanted to change my flowers to all white and green... Katie emailed me back and said I was crazy! She knew I loved hot pink and fuchsia, and gave me other reasons why a monochromatic wedding would not be beautiful. She talked me out of what I thought I wanted, because she knew my personality and excitement for different flowers. My husband put me in my place, and said nobody should have to put up with my indecisiveness for months on end, and therefore Katie is a saint. In addition, Susi's flowers is the only place in Aptos without a minimum for a wedding. They don't have package deals because each woman's wedding is unique and special. After receiving our pictures back we love how they make every shot pop! Katie was wonderful to work with from the start - we had an in-person consultation and she asked a ton of questions to really get an idea of how we wanted our day to be. She walked us through her vision and we really liked everything about it. As we got closer she sent over some pictures for us to get a better visual as well, and she really worked with us on changes to make to get us closer to budget. On the day-of Katie was outstanding - she was perfectly on time and set up all the bouquets in vases in the hotel bathtub so they would stay fresh! She also helped tremendously by putting all the boutonniere's on the groomsmen and dads. If there were ten stars, I'd give them that. Wow. After trying a number of other florists in the area looking for a very particular kind of arrangement and being told it couldn't be done, I finally tried Susi's Flowers. I was lucky to get Debbie on the phone and explained to her what I wanted. Like other florists, she initially described why what I was asking for was challenging (out of season flowers) but unlike other florists, she then went into brainstorming mode. Within moments, she'd come up with a solution that required her to go above-and-beyond a bit, but it perfectly addressed my need brilliantly. She asked if she could call me back in a few minutes to see if what she'd come up with was possible. 15 minutes later, not only did she call back, but she'd already worked out the necessary logistics to create the arrangement and have it delivered. She took my information, wrote the card accompanying the flowers, and lined up same day delivery. Amazing. As a small business owner, I often rely on the creativity of florists all over the country to create unique thank-you gifts for clients and guests. Based on this extensive experience, I would say that Susi's Flowers--and Debbie in particular--is the best of the best. read more

If you want to be thoroughly disappointed. do pick Susi's Flowers. I selected this florist to make and deliver a floral cross to my cousin's memorial service. I had several discussions with the staff prior to the date as this was VERY important and I wanted to make sure it would be beautiful and meaningful. Well, I'll never know as no floral cross appeared at the service. I received no call advising me there was a problem! Afterwards, when I could see for sure that my arrangement didn't show up, I called Susi's to ask what happened. I got a pretty casual, nonchalant answer about their just realizing they dropped the ball because they had a big wedding and some big in-house event and my order fell through the cracks. No heartfelt apology. Just an ooops. I was devastated as my cousin was very important to me and I knew a cross would mean a lot to her husband, children and grandchildren. They just overlooked my order! The apology was half-assed as if I should have understood the demands of a busy florist. Well, I didn't. I've never ever had a floral no show. Ever. I asked them to send apologies to my cousin's immediate family so they'd know I tried to honor my cousin. Again, nothing! Susi's just doesn't seem to care. So order but know they may have priorities that will prevent your order from being executed. Never again will I order from Susi's in Aptos! They are inept, uncaring and unprofessional!!! I hired these guys to do flowers for my wedding a couple months ago, and I worked with Katie. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone with a different company. Throughout the process, all my emails took over a week to be responded to- often I had to follow up with a phone call (or several) before anyone got back to me. Frustrating and unprofessional. A week before the wedding, we have finally had our last 'detail refinement' chat and Im waiting for a final quote. Very important when it comes to wedding budgeting (at least for me). I ask for this quote several times, no response. Day of the wedding, Katie arrives at the venue/bridal suite with the flowers. The flowers are lovely! Katie's attitude is not. I find her unaccommodating, snippy, and she snaps at me when I ask about the final quote. She writes prices on an envelope for me. Everyone in the room commented on her sour attitude and the negative energy lingered after she left. The groomsmen said they had a similar experience with her, too, everyone wondered what her problem was. Sorry Katie, I found you to be unprofessional and your vibe put a damper on the happy atmosphere- which was a big deal! Two stars because the flowers were very pretty. read more

I wanted something totally different for the rehearsal dinner than for the wedding, and she nailed both. The arrangements, bouquets, etc. were fresh and full and exactly what we all wanted. I just let go of the last surviving parts of the centerpieces, which lasted 2+ weeks.
