Although it looks like it's mainly a cafe with pastries, they do have a kitchen somewhere downstairs. Along with the cookies/pastries at the bar, they also serve tea and have specials/desserts pasted along the walls in addition to a lunch menu.
I'm not sure how the menu works because I came in between lunch and dinner, when I figured the kitchen would be closed, but they accommodated us and just told us pasta dishes weren't available and that it would take some time for dishes to come out. Once I saw the dishes, I understood why the waitress warned us it would take long. Everything was obviously made in-house and with great care. I can't remember the specific names of what we ordered, but one had guanciale, cheese, and some mash, which sounds simple, but the guanciale was heated until it was super crispy and the cheese shaped and fried into a thin, crispy lattice disc. Portions were small for the price, but everything was delicately prepared and made with consideration for overall flavor balance in a dish. By that I mean... Using that same dish as an example, individually the guanciale itself was super salty and the mash was under seasoned, but once if you had a bite of all 3 of the ingredients together then you could get the right balance for the dish.
Maybe the dishes I ordered were just too structured for my taste. Although I do think it's good quality, portions were just too small and taste was just okay, even if menu is organic and made in-house.
Atmosphere of the place is very cozy and pleasant. Besides the tables outside and inside, there is actually more seating downstairs once you enter. Staff was very friendly. read more
