I have been a patient of Dr Suh since she was at Prime Care many years ago. She is a brilliant doctor who has supported me through many rough patches. Dr Suh is kind, considerate & patient. She really listens & understands what I'm going through. I have never had to wait more than a few days for an appointment. When I have had a bad flare-up, she will fit me in on that day. Dr Suh will, & does go that extra mile for her patients. I couldn't recommend her higher. read more

I went for confirmation for my primary that I need low dose prednisone till my surgery for joint replacement and joint revision. I've been on it for two and a half months. On my report she said chronic use. It's the first quality of life I've had for 20 years. She was very rushed and the physical exam took less than 5 minutes. She would ask questions but would interrupt before I finished the answer. Constantly interrupting. So I spoke up but not yelling as she said in my permanent medical record. She refused to give anything but a decreasing dose which will not get me to surgery in July. There are so many errors in her findings. Said my temp was normal, it wasn't taken. Said my knees were cool with no inflammation, they are hot, tight, and full of fluid. Said I didn't have rheumatoid arthritis in my hand, kaiser diagnosed it years ago. Said I had been smoking for 50 years, try 16! Where 50 came from i can't even imagine. Said negative to numbness, fingers go numb. Says neck supple, it cracks and pops like crazy. Claims i walked out yelling at her... I did walk out, shaking my head saying that this was ridiculous. Before I left I started to say that I'm 67 and can't see living past 70 in this amount of pain. All that got out of my mouth was Im 67 years old..she interrupted again saying "I'm 65" i told her she looked great. Thinking to myself, this is not about you. So my last words to her were a compliment and I sure as hell didn't yell it! read more

The fastest Dr that i ever had. Direct to the point , tells you what is it and what is not, fulfilling your concerns. You can reach her thru her assistants but rest assured to give you solutions right from there like prescriptions... the sad part she can't be my primary physician because she is a specialist as its called. I like her and i 100 percent recommend her... MARIO JOSE S. read more

Dr Suh is wonderful!! She was very kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. I can't recommend her highly enough. She was very reassuring about my concerns and listened carefully to my fears with respect. Thank you Dr Suh. read more

The only reason I'm rating 4 and not 5 stars is how difficult it is to get an appointment with Dr Suh in a timely manner. That is of course not the office's fault, but troublesome when you're experiencing severe pain. The waiting room is spartan, but comfortable. They are sticklers for punctuality, but the office runs smoothly and the wait times have not been long ime. Once with Dr Suh, she immediately jumped in and asked about my concerns and recent experiences. She was empathetic, but direct. Her physical exam did not hurt (like others I've experienced) and she confidently diagnosed me with that information and my previous labs. She even put a rush on my prescriptions, because she knew I'd been waiting so long. (Some of her verbiage was a little outdated, but she is so kind in response to the suffering of her patients.) I would recommend her to anyone, especially female and trans or non-binary patients, dealing with joint issues. read more

I have been going to Dr. Susie Suh for several years now. I used to live on the Monterey Peninsula but moved to Reno, NV in 2014. I still drive the 6 hours back to Salinas just to see Dr. Suh for my 6-month appointment. I have always had a good experience working with her and her staff. And most importantly, I feel great now! Thank you Dr. Suh and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare! read more

It took me almost 4 weeks to get an appointment for an autoimmune condition which appears to be the "norm" in this area for some doctors. I brought her all my lab test results for her to see. She rushed thru the visit and did not fully listen to my issues especially my dealing with long covid for over a year which is causing my other issues to over-react which includes pain . Also her instructions to care for my skin issues made my skin bleed and break out in huge welts, so I stopped. The company I work for requires a Physician's Medical Accommodation Form for the doctor to complete to continue medical accommodations provided by my employer. I am not asking for the sun and the moon, and I do have to work. It wasn't anything the Doctor couldn't do but refused to complete it and told me to take it to my Primary Care physician who instructed me to take it to my Rheumatologist to complete. No one wants to take accountablity for anything and I was more than willing to pay $25 for the fee to have the doctor complete the form which takes 10 minutes. The accomodation is for a chair and an extra 10 minute break...not asking for the impossible!!!! read more

Dr. Suh is a caring doctor that has treated me for chronic pain which has otherwise defied diagnosis. Instead of dismissing my pain as drug seeking behavior, as so many doctors have, Dr. Suh carefully examined me and carefully thought about the evidence. Her conclusion was well reasoned, and though incurable (the disease is hyperflexibility which is kind of intrinsic to me) she continues to help me manage my pain. While she was at this, she noted other problems I was having that I had not complained about, and made appropriate referrals, leading to the cure of some of those problems. Dr. Suh treated me in the best tradition of a humane and caring physician. It does not get better than this. I suspect that the person who wrote the one star review hates the diagnosis she has and has transferred her anger to a very good doctor. read more

I had my first appointment today with Dr Suh. A doctor who actually listens, explains in depth, is personable, gives great advice and doesn't discount your opinion.... She's awesome!!! A true example of how a doctor should attend tho their patients! Thank you so much Dr Suh for just being who you are!! read more

O.M.G. After a car accident in 2015 I had multiple orthopedic surgeries at Stanford and in the last 4 years every ortho or other specialists seemed to take little interest in my case ...how I have healed wrong maybe or why I am in pain.. I even spent 2 years laying in a hospital bed at 45 because the looser ortho Doc's didn't want to take over and wouldn't clear me for PT AND Then they wrote me off. I got out got in a pool and started walking again but still with pain and slow improvement. Dr S. is the first to point out 3 major issues I never had heard from all the others. I am looking forward to the future now. read more

Dr. Suh has been a wonderful dr to me. Whenever I come in for my arthritic pains I can always depend on her bc she always ALWAYS knows exactly where I hurt and why and she takes care of my pain immediately. She's wonderful, smart at her job, kind, reliable, patient and understanding. And funny. read more

Terrible and rude staff. The staff is insensitive and difficult to work with over the phone. Dr. Suh is an okay doctor, although she watched me have a year long allergic reaction to a medication she had prescribed and it took some long hard research on my part to figure out what was going on with my terrible skin reaction. It was in fact the medicine, which I decided to get off with her consent, but she never suggested it could be the medication. It took my skin close to 3 months to clear up. In her office she will be kind, but you will feel incredibly rushed. read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Suh yesterday and was extremely impressed by the service level from the front to back office. I was greeted by smiling faces and my wait time was less than a couple of minutes. Dr. Suh was very concerned about my health and was extremely thorough in her assessment of my condition, asked lots of questions and took the time to explain what the next steps would be. I found her demeanor warm and highly professional, not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. Added bonus was a blood lab on site. The office needed to get a bit more high tech as I'm used to seeing laptops in the treatment rooms, however, I think they just moved so perhaps they are still in the process of setting this up. read more

There should be an option to give 0 stars. The front office staff is so rude and unprofessional. The front is a reflection on the Dr and entire office. When the Dr was notified of her staff's behavior she just gave an insincere 'sorry.' To make matters worse the front office also made callous remarks when leaving. Note to the front office staff, you're not doing your job. You're rude, belittling, unprofessional and can easily be replaced. You're giving patients a terrible impression of the Dr. Have respect for people!!!! read more

No stars. A month before moving to the area I had several conversations with the office & met their requirements to have 3 months of my husbands medical records faxed to her. He was accepted as a patient , however on the first appointment she did not interview him at all, rather she lectured him about "not agreeing with his prior treatment and she would not continue it" please leave the office now. Extremely rude and unprofessional, considering the effort we had gone to to provide information ahead of time . No refund, we were charged a copay for her to give the patient a completely unwarranted and undeserved piece of her mind. She gives females and the medical profession a bad name. read more

According to Yelp's rating system, I have to list at least 1 star. This is 1 too many. I went to see Dr. Suh not long after I was diagnosed with a recurrence of rheumatoid arthritis. She did very little to help me at all. I would say she just watched me get worse, except she wasn't "watching" at all. She didn't do much of an examination after the first time I saw her and didn't check my mobility and so never saw that I was walking with my feet wide apart to keep my swollen knees from hitting each other. I now have a rheumatologist who does do an exam each time I see her and I have improved, rather than deteriorate as I did under Dr. Suh's lack of care. I expected much more from a UCLA trained rheumatologist. read more

Dr Suh's first words to me as soon as walked into the examining room were: "You're in a great deal of pain, and you don't sleep well at night"; "Let's see what we can do about that"; she then ordered a battery of blood tests, and also requested copies fopr my primary physician, so that he can be abreast of what's going on. He himself was astounded by this consideration and quite appreciative. From that moment on, she has continued to be diligent, kind, considerate and caring in her approach. She adjusted the meds my previous rheumatologist had me on, and this has made some difference in my quality of life. Sadly, my RA has progressed; but with the progression she has again adjusted and added to my med regime. I would highly reccomend anyone with RA and other rheumatological illnesses to see her, she WILL HELP YOU. Too bad I wasted a year and a half on the other guy. read more

Dr Suh has been treating me for my Ankylosing Spondylitis for the last 13 years. I believe she is THE GO TO RHEUMATOLOGIST in Monterey County. Period. I highly recommend all patients with rheumatological conditions to see her. She stays up to date with the latest treatments and cares for her patients. Dr Suh will fight with the insurance if necessary which proves she cares. read more

I have seen Dr. Suh in her Monterey office for 6 or 7 years. She is a brilliant diagnostician, who has a fantastic rapport with patients. Dr. Suh is one of the best doctors I have seen, and there have been many. Also, I have found her office staff to be competent and efficient. read more

The office staff is not very communicative (no personality either) Dr. Suh herself was rude and uppity. We drove in from Santa Cruz and got there at 1045am, 45 min early (it was pouring when we left, the reason we left early). I told the receptionist, I know we're early but maybe we can be seen early. She said, Okay good, have a seat. Kind of gave the impression maybe we can be seen early. We waited till 1130 (our appointed time) till the manager came to us (on her own, must be because I was standing, my sciatica was flared up and was hard for me to sit for too long no other reason than that) at about 1140 and said the doctor will be with us in a few minutes since our appointment is for 1145. No, I explained it was for 1130. I also said it would have been nice for the receptionist to tell us the doctor may not see us early since so far everyone has shown up on time (many other doctors offices has the courtesy to do this). This would have given us the option to leave and come back or hang around. The manager told us they are not permitted to do that without the permission of the doctor. But no one asked the doctor, they just made us wait (lack of communication). She told me to take it up with the doctor. I did. The doctor wouldn't let me finish my discontent. Instead she made a face and said, Isn't that what appointments are for?. and then said, why should my staff tell anyone they are early, isn't it obvious? Basically calling me stupid. I put up my finger to stop her from insulting me and she ended the appointment never seeing my mother for her pain. Dr. Suh insisted I was mad at her for not taking us in early. I tried telling her I wasn't, I was upset because there was no communication from the front office staff. I work in a very busy doctors office and yes, we tell our patients whether it's possible if we can see them early or not. I've been to other doctor's offices where they say something very similar. It's called common courtesy and respect to the patient. Yes, we were early that is our fault, it was pouring outside when we left but we wanted to be sure we got there on time in case there was an accident. I voiced my unhappiness about the lack of communication with the staff to the doctor. Bravo for Dr. Suh for sticking up for them, if that's the kind of staff she wants, but to insult people? Then stormed out and called me ignorant? Yep, called her a b*tch. She was the most unprofessional low class doctor I've met in a very very long time. I feel I've saved my mother from a very low quality doctor who needs anger management classes. Oh did I mention the office only saw two patients in the hour we were waiting? Yep, count them...two. read more

Can you give negative stars? Warning: Do Not come here!!! my Father was treated so badly simply due to a misunderstanding. the girls (front desk) told my father to "get out...get out!!!". people - seriously? Do you want to trust people like that with your health? This is not a way to treat people! It is honestly Unethical and doesn't dr. susie suh know that their staff is God awful? My Father is such a kind and respectable man, so it broke my heart when he told me about this situation. It's disgusting. Dr suh is a great doctor. She's aggressive in taking care of issues and has been correct in her diagnoses thus far. She's friendly but also very efficient with her time. She won't be spending a lot of unnecessary time with you. On the other hand, the staff at the front desk is rude, uncommunicative, unfriendly and abrupt. I can't think of another doctors office with such poor staff members. read more

Every time I go to visit Dr. Suh, I am ushered out the door almost as soon as I walk in. I am being treated for AS with a drug that can have some serious side effects. Dr. Suh doesn't seem to let me get a word out when I try to genuinely talk about health concerns, developing symptoms, and possible alternative treatments. I always feel awkward and uncomfortable in her office and I have never had an appointment with her that lasted longer than 10 minutes...is this a west coast thing? She is the first doctor I have seen in CA, and on the east coast most health care providers sit down and let you talk to them about your concerns. I have been seeing her for nearly a year, because she is the only rheumatologist to whom I can get a referral without having to pay out of pocket and I had not been in a financial situation where I could afford to pay for another doctor's opinion. Since my financial situation has changed, I plan to seek out a different rheumatologist this week after the way my recent appointment went. Also sort of strange, she will not look me in the face when she is talking to me. She always seems to be staring at something over my shoulder. This is unnerving and doesn't really promote a trusting atmosphere :\ read more

I have been struggling with RA and given a referral to Dr. Suh. I booked the appt in early June for July 12th - the earliest i could get in. Dr.Suh has been my Rheumatologist for 2 and a half years, and not once during this time have I been impressed. While she did help me get through flairs, she did not help me maintain in between them. She is brisk, impersonal and moody, going between patient and willing to work with you to dismissive and condescending. My final straw (after which i am now searching for a new Rheumatologist) was when she suddenly changed my diagnosis from JRA to Ankylosing Spondylitis. There were no confirming tests, but rather a quick "oh no!" discussion about back pain before she diagnosed me. She then preceded to tell me how Enbrel was /the only/ medication that I would be able to take, switching me from Methotrexate. She continued to try and force me to switch to the medication. though my insurance would not support a non generic prescription. After 2 months of having the medication pushed on me and being blamed for mistakes made by her staff, I did my own digging. As it would turn out, Enbrel is not only the only medication I could have taken, but is one of many in a class of medications. The real kicker is that Methotrexate is a common treatment for AS. TL;DR, Dr.Suh is inconsistent in bedside manner, with poor staff, and after my past experiences with her, I feel untrustworthy. read more

Dr. Suh was abrupt and rude. She gave me about 5 min. of her time, she talks extremely fast, doesn't seem to be interested in listening to her patients, making a diagnosis even before you can finish your sentence. I asked at the front desk if they were really that busy to rush people in and out so fast. Of course, all I got were glares. She doesn't require you to fill out any med. history as most do before first appt. I inquired about this and was told she asks all she needs during the appt. She was in too much of a rush to get any kind of family or personal history. From the other reviews I believe that she may possibly have multiple personality disorder, no kidding. I cannot imagine her to be caring as in a few reviews and you'd expect that from a doctor. She treats you like you're a nuisance she wants out of her office as quickly as possible. I requested some kind of tests to make sure it wasn't something more serious. This came with a look of disgust. I've seen her twice and felt she must be having a difficult day the first appt. This last appt. will be my last. read more

After seeing two loser Rheumatologists in Monterey who I won't mention, I heard really good things about Dr. Suh and was really looking forward to meeting her. Because of the usual mistakes made by my PCP, I had to wait for several months for my first appointment. I found out low life patients on Medi-Cal are privileged enough see her in the Monterey office, they have to drive to Natividad in Salinas. Most patients know a new appointments with a specialist usually last a minimum 30+ minutes. In Dr. Suh's office, they're scheduled for 10-15 minutes! After my long wait, I didn't even have enough time to explain why I was there! Two important specialist referred me to see her because who strongly believe I have one or more systemic autoimmune diseases. Dr. Suh wouldn't even consider hearing about this. I brought to her office plenty of medical records. All she wanted to do was quickly diagnose me with a stupid Baker's cyst behind my knee, and said to have a orthpaedic doctor cut it out! And she had the nerve the say I was irritated when she I didn't want to let her give me trigger point injections! That's not what I went there for! It was one of the most disappointing specialist appointments I've ever waited for. I hope she reads my review on Yelp. More doctors need to read what patients are saying about them. And doctors need to reconcile the oath they took when they became a doctor and improve their quality of medical care! I know more and more patients that are losing hope and faith in the medical society because of doctors like these. I will not refer this specialist to anyone. read more
