Dragon roll (top left), Alaska Roll (bottom), Spicy Baked Salmon Roll (top right)

This is my FAVORITE sushi restaurant and I am a picky eater but Sushiya is the BEST. Ive been here so many times and I promise you the quality is better than any expensive nice ambience sushi restaurant in downtown SB and all inexpensive ones combined. Sushiya is the best and the workers are always so kind and always smiling. I love visiting sushiya for my sushi fix, the quality is consistent and it hits every time. I always get their dragon roll, Alaska roll, and spicy baked salmon roll, all so delicious I can never decide my favorite. The rolls are BIG, portions are generous and it comes with free miso soup which is really yummy too! Thank you Sushiya for the amazing food, kind service, and good vibes.

The korean food is very good and authentic, the portions are large and the sushi is fresh. The rolls and very large and will get you full. Service is fast and easy.

Stopped in for lunch with my coworker. The family service is wonderful. What a great example of a family bringing great food to the community. I we ordered the Hawaiian, Dragon, and two other rolls at their recommendation. So fresh, great food. Will be back very soon for more!

Surprised to find this restaurant in Isla Vista, an area of mostly college students. I dined at this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon while visiting my daughter at UCSB. She and her bf wanted sushi for lunch but we were short on time and a trip to Santa Barbara would not have worked. At their suggestion, we ate here. I wasn't expecting much since it was located right next to the school and the word "Express" is in the name. Fortunately, our experience exceeded my expectations. They've dined there before so they knew what to expect thus the recommendation. Here's what I experienced. *A small to medium sized "order at the counter" sushi restaurant with Japanese decor. *Indoor and outdoor (communal) seating. *A small parking lot with easy parking since most walk or bike there. *Street and city lot parking readily available. *Good amount of options on the menu. *Pricing comparable to more traditional sushi establishments. *Friendly service at the counter and table. They bring the food to the table. *Tasty food and decent portions. *Fast service. *Functional restroom with key. We ordered 2 veggie rolls, a rainbow roll, a dragon roll, a spider roll, edamame and unagi sushi. Our meal came with miso soup. The rainbow and dragon rolls looked very similar to each other and appeared to resemble the shrimp tempura rolls over what we ordered. But they were good so we had no complaints. Our taste buds were happy and our bellies were full. I loved the convenience. I will definitely be back!

Bulgogi

Recently went back to try their Korean food! When others said the Korean food at Sushiya is good, they weren't wrong. This bulgogi is textbook for taste and texture and is overall a good dish. However, $23 for this dish is incredibly overpriced considering how easy it is to cook at home and similar dishes in other high cost of living areas. Their miso soup was also barely warm.

I love their food. They have Korean cuisine and Japanese! It's amazing how nice they are and the place is nice too!!

I never would have thought to come to IV to eat Japanese and Korean food, but the pictures on yelp looked nice and I decided to give it a try, and it turned out to be a nice surprise. The rainbow roll was medium sized, not as generous as Goleta Sushi House, but still decent size made with fresh fish and came with a bowl of miso soup. The shoyu ramen came out fresh and hot. It was not Nikka, but the attention to detail earned some points for me. The tender pork belly was finished on the grill and the egg was cooked to the right consistency. Lastly, clam soondofu was good enough to curb my craving for Korean stews. It came with half a dozen clams, an egg, and lots of custardy tofu. It could use a little more seasoning and I wish they offer some kimchi with the Korean dishes. Sushiya will be a good alternative to Choi's since the later closes early.

I had heard this place was under new management so I wanted to check it out. At first glance of the menu I thought it was a little pricey until I received my order and realized how large the portions were. I ordered the kimchi fried rice as well as the snowcone roll. For some reason I thought the kimchi fried rice was a la carte and wondered why it was so expensive. As for the snowcone roll, I also expected just a normal small roll. Both items are quite large and came with an order of miso soup. Needless to say I had plenty of leftovers to take home for dinner and enjoyed multiple meals out of these two entrées! I would love to come back and try to seafood Ramen! That really caught my eye as well as a few other entrées.

I ordered the Jajangmyeon noodle dish at the register and took a seat. It came with a dish of yellow radish. The Jajangmyeon had julienned cucumber on top. The sauce for this dish is supposed to be thick. Unfortunately, I was served a version that was very thin and oily. The sauce had tiny pieces of diced overcooked pork and a just a small pieces of zucchini. Other than that the rest was slices of blackened onions. The cost was also expensive at $15.95 before tax. This was the most I have ever paid for this dish and the quality was inferior and there wasn't enough veggies in the sauce. Between the pork and zucchini, I estimate it was less than a 1/4 cup. So essentially the dish was mainly noodles in with a sauce filled with onions.

It was an open layout that had plenty of seating inside the restaurant. The decor was moder, but not overdone. We were greeting and pointed to a table but that was it. We realized there was a QR code on the table and we could order our food on there. It took a little while to get our food even though no one else was there. I found it really odd to not even be told to use the QR code to order or be informed of anything. Stewed beef noodles with Ramen- 9/10 My husband ordered this and I tried some. The broth was delicious. Rich and flavorful but not overbearing. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the meat was tender. The bok choy was a needed touch. My husband ate the whole bowl and wanted a second because was so good. Certified Angus Beef hot pot- 8/10 I ordered this with the tom yum broth. I didn't know it was a creamy version of the broth until it was served. I'm not mad about it but it wasn't in the description in case others are dairy sensitive. The broth was flavorful and really delicious. I will say that the beef was tough and it a typical cut that overcooked very quickly in the broth. I'm not positive it was Angus beef grade. I just now realized it was missing the lotus root but gave me zucchini instead. I was also missing my quail eggs. If I didn't read the description to know I was supposed to have them, I would've missed that too. Overall, the food was delicious but the service was 1 star for sure. We were never checked on and the waiter only appeared if we pushed the call button. If you can overlook the lack of customer service, the food is really delicious.

It was full of white meat chicken, yummy rice noodles, and savory broth. Absolutely delicious and warming. Hubby had the shrimp pho. He was very pleased. Personal preference but, I believe it is a crime to not have brisket when serving pho. The only options left were dry, tougher cuts that felt very mediocre. Regarding the broth, it was overwhelmingly bland. It was extremely clear and had minimal fat. Again personal preference but, it seems they had extracted all of the fat after simmering the beef and that left the broth so lackluster. We also got the Thai tea and my girlfriend thought it was delicious. Regarding the ambiance, I think Noodle City tries their best making use of their limited space. However, it wasn't very clean: the spoons were a bit dirty, it seemed like the floor isn't cleaned often, and the utensil/condiment holder on our table was a mess with the chopsticks about to fall off the table. As for the service, they had plenty on their hands tonight as a ~12 top came in shortly after us and they a line out the door until right before we left. They checked in multiple times, however, we did have to mention our thai tea was forgotten and got it AFTER our pho came out. It also seemed like there was an altercation with a male server and the party of 12: orders were confused and he yelled "well figure it out". Overall, I've been to Noodle City for ~3 years and I think they have GREAT rice dishes. However, their pho is pretty mediocre, service is often fast but not friendly, and prices are always CHEAP.

Very warm, welcoming and professional staff. It was busy and the cashier/waitress handled taking orders, delivering food to tables and kept the customers informed that she would be with them soon and all with a smile. The chicken tenders are tasty, tender and a nice size. Good sauces too. Biscuits are mini biscuits, tasty but expensive for what you get. I would prefer to just pay for a regular size biscuit instead of $10 for 6 mini one-bite biscuits. My main gripe were with the wings. They are a nice size, but not tender and cooked with too much batter. You have to cut into them to take the batter off or else you get a mouthful of batter. Also, the meat itself is not seasoned. If they could improve the wings it would be a much better product. So for now, we'll stick to the tenders.
