Buddha Belly
Genieen G.

It had honestly been a minute since I had been to sushiya. The last time (several years ago) it seemed like everything was bland and flavorless... however my husband and I were in the area and we decided to give it another try. Boy am I glad we did! We ordered sushi to start. The sushi came out fairly quickly. We had 2 basic rolls, a tuna roll and a salmon roll... tho I will say there was no mention of avocado in the salmon roll, but when it was brought it had it... not a fan but both were good and fresh. We also ordered a Buddha Belly roll which was HUGE! It was also amazingly delicious! By far my new favorite roll! I would return for this roll alone! Highly recommend! We also ordered some crab Rangoon ... however I felt that these were not nearly filled enough for the size... they definitely could use some more filling. The egg drop soup we got was also STELLAR!! Would also come back to order a huge bowl of this as well! Delicious and savory! Absolutely wonderful! We also ordered entrees as well. All came out warm and quickly. We went during dinner time but service was quick and friendly! The place itself was clean, bathrooms were clean, and staff was friendly! Overall would definitely recommend and absolutely will be returning!

ValPak had a 15% off coupon so we tried this place. We will not be back. My daughter said her miso soup tasted like a mix and not fresh. The egg drop had corn in it and was just ok. The crab Rangoon and vegetable egg rolls were again, just ok. They came with teeny little cups with dipping sauce. Weird. We both got bento boxes and they were nothing special. The tempura vegetables were meh. The salad dressing was weird. Her BBQ and my shrimp were just ok. She likes more bland food and she said it was super bland. The california roll had very little taste. The server was good but the food subpar.

I ordered Sushiya for takeout last night and it was delicious. This was a Sunday night and they weren't busy from what I could tell. I was able to pick up the order rather quickly. I'm a huge fan of the Geisha roll which comes with rice paper and has a ton of flavor. I also added a California roll which was ok, a little lite on the rice side of things. I think the prices for their rolls are super reasonable and would much prefer this to grocery store sushi that is often just about the same price. In the past, I've come and sat down instead of getting takeout. When you eat in, they bring you miso soup which is always such a treat.

Service: the service was ok, it could have been a little better and has been in the past. The servers just seemed young and wasn't sure was in the sushi rolls, so we gambled on the rolls and were happy with them. We were seated immediately and had our drink orders taken and delivered quickly. After they took our food order though they took a while to get our ticket and she gave me a very small box for our leftovers. Food: the food has always been good, it was my grandmas favorite egg drop soup! The rolls are good and made fresh. The miso was great and so was the rice. My favorite is the vegetable egg rolls. The food was what got the 5 stars today.

Yummy!!! I'm so glad I tried this little place! It's a very small very friendly staff ! The food is pretty good! We had the fried dumplings which were perfect! The crab rangoons are delicious. They do taste different but super good! The Prawns with candied pecans was good just super sweet! The sushi was fresh and perfect!

Highly recommend this place! The food was amazing I had no idea all These years there was this hidden gem in my neighborhood. I had the wheat noodles which were on point perfectly cooked!

Stopped by here for a bite of sushi and the sushi was good! One of the sushi dishes that I got took quite a while to come out, it basically came out by the time I was done with my other sushi order. The yaki soba was pretty good, I thought it was a little bit salty. Our server didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She was nice, but didn't have any emotion or showed that she cared to be there.

This is the amount of food that we couldn't stomach and is going in the garbage

It is not the biggest restaurant, and is popular, so I would recommend being prepared to wait during "popular busy time" but it is so worth the wait. So I also recommend waiting. The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

Not at a station where they cook it directly in front of you. Our meals included scallops, a couple of shrimp, veggies consisting of zucchini, mushrooms and onions. When they brought our food out that's when I thought something was wrong. Namely, it had a very strong and unpleasant fishy smell. Taste wise it did not taste at all fresh. Rather it tasted like something that should have been disposed of three days prior. Also, our rice did not taste fresh and neither did the mushrooms. Our daughter ordered a bowl of ramen and she said it was somewhat okay but that it tasted like they dumped an entire bottle of chili sauce in it which made it difficult to enjoy. We are not "those" kind of customers who complain about everything but if we weren't pressed for time due to having purchased tickets for a comedy show immediately after i would have requested a refund after having taken a couple of bites. Oh well, $130+ later and with an exceptionally strong case of nausea I have to report that we will not be dining here again. That said, the staff was very nice and I feel like they tried the best they could but the food was just not good. At least not the food that we ordered.

This was my first time getting takeout here, and overall, I came away pretty impressed…read more The person who took my order over the phone was very professional, and although I had to wait about 15 minutes longer than expected, the staff was quick and polite once my food was ready. The phone rang several times while I was waiting, so they may have been a little short-staffed that evening. The restaurant itself is really well decorated. Great lighting, good music, and a modern vibe make it a place that I'd definitely consider dining in next time. At $60 for three entrees, this is definitely on the more expensive side for an Asian restaurant. But I will say, the food was well worth both the wait and the extra cost. I had the Fried Rice with Pork, and the pork had fantastic flavor. There was also a generous amount of meat, which I always appreciate with fried rice. My daughter had the Chicken Teriyaki, and she loved it, which is saying something because she isn't always the easiest person to please! My wife enjoyed the Bulgogi Beef, although she did wish there had been a little more sauce. I will also add that each entree was an ample portion and everyone had a little left over. All in all, despite the longer-than-expected wait and higher price point, the quality of the food and the excellent service made it worthwhile. This might actually become our new favorite spot for quality asian food.

We were greeted right away and chose to sit closer to the back table near the bathroom. We promptly ordered waters bc I knew I wanted to try a few things. We were kind of indecisive, but when we ordered, the food would arrive promptly as well. We started with the Soft Shell appetizer (~$10). It was nicely breaded and fried and covered in spicy mayo sauce, topped with shredded radish garnish, on top of sliced cucumbers for freshness. Then, ordered Lao-style Papaya salad (~$12) medium spicy. It came out perfectly with fermented crab paste and accompanied with pork rinds and cabbage. Only thing I forgot to ask was sticky rice, but maybe next time. We also ordered Shrimp Pad Thai (~$17) medium, which also tasted yummy. Finally, we ordered Dragon Roll with Spicy Tuna (~$24) and Hawaiian Roll (~$17). Everything tasted fresh and tasty. Overall, great experience. The owners are very inviting and accommodating. They speak Lao, which made me feel like home. I like the attention to detail on the dishes. The prices are a little steep, but understandably bc times are hard now. I'm grateful I get a taste of home. The Dragon Roll is really impressive bc they give you a lot of eel. The portions are decent and filling. I will definitely be back!
