Sushi Zone is still by far one of our favorite spots in the Tri-Valley area. I only wished they were much closer to home. We frequent Sushi Zone at least once a week, but cause their sushi leaves you wanting to go back for more. We are consistently pleased with the freshness of their seafood, they never disappoint! Our favorite-- OMG roll by far best we ever had, Sake Nigeria (salmon) sashimi, spicy tuna roll, vegetable tempura, dragon roll, gyozas, and their salad dressing to die for. They make it themselves...we love it so much we sometimes buy to go. Their portions are a nice and big...good for the price. We love this place and we are sushi foodies! read more

I found this sushi place through yelp and compared to other highly rated sushi resturants in Livermore. When it comes to sushi and service, i think sushi zone is one of my favorites. My husband and I usually get sushi every Sat night. We have tried every place in Livermore. This is our go to place. Excellent sushi and wonderful staff. Love this place!! Edit, only after a year. So sad. We loved this place, service has declined drastically. We come almost every Saturday night. Its been getting worse. After tonight, will most likely never go back. Too many great places to eat in Livermore that appreciate loyal customers and dont let costumer service be secondary. Waited way too long for our order to be taken, been here on a crazy night and taken much faster, tonight was dead compared to the past. Never asked us if we wanted a refill on drinks, had to flag down to order more food, had to ask for some water, a party of two, we got one glass. The topper was, we wanted to order more but after over an hour for 2 rolls and some sashimi, no drinks I was done. Words of advice, when there are only 3 parties, stop filling containers and counting cash. Ask your clients if they want to spend more. I certainly would have. Ate here for the first time, omg delicious, the shrimp crunch roll was the best and the chicken katsu was sooo good and the sauce was to die for! Service was great and the sushi chefs were very nice ( they put up with my husband who had too much saki, LOL) all in all it was a great meal and we will definitely go back again and again. read more

I just stopped in for some tasty miso soup and avocado rolls to take home since I'm not feeling well and this place is near my daughter's school. When I went in with my husband we let the hostess know we wanted to look at a menu to order to-go. Instead of handing us a menu she gestured toward the stack of dine-in menus. While we we looking at the menu the hostess handed us a laminated sheet wit inch specials. We found a decent bento deal that includes miso soup, rice, salad, and two options for about $9. They charge a $1 more if you want two of the same item (silly, but OK). I just wanted avocado rolls so I was charged $11. Our total for both bentos was $24 (rounding), which for everything was ok. But when we got our food at pick up the soups were missing and the portions were tiny (a spoonful of rice, a bit of iceberg lettuce, barely any avocado). My husband went back to ask for our soups and was told that to-go orders don't get soup, and that the to-go menu shows that. We weren't shown a to-go menu or told that at all while ordering. The meal isn't worth the price without the soup (or even with)! The chef told my husband that he could order soup separate (which makes no sense since they seem to not want to prepare soup to-go because we paid full dine-in price and left without soup). He also told my husband that the soup is a complimentary item with dine-in, which is why you can't get it in your to-go order. That's bull. I doubt if I say in there and ordered just avocado rolls or a bowl of rice they would serve me a free soup. It's sad that this restaurant treats new customers this way when they clearly miscommunicated in the first place and refused to just give us out soup. read more

I meet my wife here often, as it is close to her work. The service is fairly fast, and the employees are polite and attentive. Some good Sushi combo selections for lunch, a good spicy ramen noodle dish. Highly recommended. read more

The fish is fresh, but there isn't an overwhelming amount in the rolls. And for the prices, there should be. The first time I came here (about a year ago), I got the chirashi and I was impressed. I got two rolls (take-out) the other night, and I was not so impressed. Like I said, the fish was fresh and tasted fine. That's definitely not the issue. The rolls seemed sort of... slapped together. They were falling apart by the time I got them home. And there wasn't a whole lot of fish in them. Plus, they didn't have a lot of flavor. ... Although maybe that's because I had one roll and only pieces of the other roll that I had to soak in water first. Why? Because AFTER I told the person taking my order that I'm allergic to soy and there can't be ANY soy in my rolls, they put a big ass container of soy sauce in with my rolls, and it leaked everywhere. Of course, the rice absorbed it, ruining one of my rolls completely and ruining most of the other roll. The only way to salvage ANY part of the food I spent so much money on was to pull the inner parts of the roll out and soak them in a bowl of water before eating each sad little piece individually. This place is just ok...service was really slow when we came, and the food was just ok. Came out in a weird order, where our baked mussels didn't come till after we had finished all of our sushi. Fish tasted just ok, not the freshest, but not the worse, and the rice was just ok as well. My husband and I eat here when we can rendezvous for lunch. When you walk in you're greeted in Japanese and are served by a friendly staff of chefs and servers. The sushi meat is fresh and the tastes are crisp, fresh and delicious; authentic Japanese. Came here for the first time on Sunday evening for dinner. Could have done without the TV on blaring a soccer game; distracts from the otherwise quiet ambiance with soft Japanese music playing in background. Food was fabulous with the exception of the way over rated Monkey Brain which I will never order again. Cucumber salad was awesome and presented in a martini glass. I judge sushi restaurants by its cleanliness, fresh fish, overall quality, price and staff friendliness. Sushi Zone has them all. Their bento boxes is the best value with plenty of delicious food. The sushi is not bad either with its fresh ingredients. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. It's always nice to hear a hearty "irasshaimase!" when we come in. The place is small but very comfy and cozy. It's a great place to catch a Giants game while eating. A definite must in the South east corner of Livermore. read more

My husband and I ate here last week. The food was delish, the servers were friendly and the wait times were reasonable. We ordered the OMG, 49er and Caterpillar rolls, and Salmon Nigiri. The ambience was very casual. The only reason we didn't rate it with 5 stars is because the restaurant was very small and tables were butted up against each other. This was our first time here and they did not disappoint! The service was great. We sat at the bar. We ordered beer and saki and they brought it right away. The rolls came shortly after. Don't be fooled by the strip mall location. This place is usually crowded and the fish is fresh. So many good options. We've eaten at every Sushi place in town, and are thankful to be in walking distance of this one. I do wish the sushi chefs were a bit more interactive with those at the bar. I wanted to switch up sushi spots because DT gets so crowded. It was my second time coming here... The first time I ordered for pick up... the sushi was ok not amazing it got the job done. I ordered the cherry blossom, sashimi and side salad. Second time coming here and ordered the same thing for pick up, They told me 20 minutes when I got there I waited an extra 30 minutes to get my food. I called about 40 minutes before hand and I understand it's a Saturday night but over an hour wait for decent sushi?
