The dinner here was nice but not the best I have ever tasted of course, but don't get me wrong this place is worth the visit if you are inching for Japanese food. I had the dinner combination which came with two choice; I had the Sushi combination and beef teriyaki and it came with salad and soup. The sushi (fish) was fresh and delicious, the gave me yellow tail, butter fish, tuna and salmon. The rice was good enough and the condiments were tasty. The beef was however a little too salty for my taste, and the beef was chewy, could have been better in texture. The ambience is really cute, a little touch of Japanese and the owner took the time to make it real cute and nice for a mediocre look shop, so great job on that. The servers were nice enough but not the friendliest I have experienced in the monterey peninsula. If I was back I would come back to retry some other dishes. Awesome lunch special for $7.99. I had a California roll and shrimp and veggie tempura. It came with miso soup, rice, and salad. It was good and the service was reasonable. I was on my way to Monterey with some friends and we ended up stopping in Seaside to look around. We saw the grand opening sign at Sushi Time and decided to try it out. We got there around 1 and there were quite a few people already eating. We thought our food would take long to come out but it wasn't too bad. I wasn't expecting much because the prices were so cheap but I was pleasantly surprised. All I can say is that the rolls were awesome. The rolls were flavorful and the fish tasted fresh. Our waitress was very nice also and gave us some great recommendations. I just moved to Cali from Vegas. I was surrounded by some great sushi restaurants in Vegas. Sushi time is just as good if not better but a lot cheaper. My bill for 3 people was the same amount as it was in Vegas for only 2 people. If you want some great tasting sushi at an incredible price, this is the place to go. I will definitely go here again if I am in the area. P.S. Their fried ice cream was super tasty also. read more

I was expecting great sushi for the price of the meals but received warm sushi when j ordered a cold roll, and what grossed me out was the texture of warm avocado incorporated into the roll. All other times I've had avocado in a roll, the roll was cold and well made, however the roll I received was sloppy, loose, and dissatisfying. They have great deals on Monday nights but the reason I'm only putting one star is the service is awful. I had two bad experiences with the same waitress who is extremely rude. She was acting as if my daughter was throwing a fit but she was happy and laughing. She asked if she could take my daughter outside which was very offensive so we finished our meal and decided to leave. Even after that experience we decided to give it another try but she immediately came up to me and said if my daughter was loud she would ask us to leave. The review of Sushi Time is in and here we go. The Mrs. and I ordered our "Wonder how good this sushi is" plates and were impressed. Her choices- Salmon skin hand roll, Saba sashimi, and Unagi. The salmon skin was crisp with just the right amount rice and perfectly sized veggies. The Saba was marinated and served with paper thin lemon slices. The Unagi was broiled, not as crispy as we like it, but the flavor was great with huge slices of the eel. My choices- Uni, which they get from Santa Barbara, and is California Gold quality. It was as fresh as I have ever had. Hamachi from the belly was buttery velvety and again generously sliced. We also had Maguro, a Big Sur roll and a chef's choice sashimi platter. This is a definite keeper and a go back place, the menu is extensive with noodle dishes and donburi. Sushi Time has specials during the week that range from half off beer and hot sake and a 3 roll deal for $21.00. We were happy that our BFF R.B. was able to join us and yes he enjoyed it all. I am a sushi lover. I know good sushi, and this is by far my favorite sushi bar. Amazed by how quickly this business became popular. I come every Thursday because my sources tell me that is when the fish is the absolute freshest. Not that it isn't fresh any other day of the week. I have also gone on Monday for the special. And lunch always has great prices. I have yet to try everything on the menu, but I can definitely suggest the Noodle Time, the 49er Roll, and the Big Sur Roll. Annoying and Disappointing. My party of 3 came on a cold night. The restaurant was packed, so we were expecting some good things. We ordered an unagi hand roll, sushi time and alien special roll, as well as the deluxe sashimi combo. Around 15 minutes after we ordered, a waitress came and asked if we needed our check. We told her the food wasnt even here yet, and laughed the occurence off as an oddity. Then, as we waited longer and longer different waitresses came and kept asking are you done yet, or is everything ok. It became a major annoyance. Also, as customers left or arrived the restaurant, the open doors blew a chilly breeze inside, and because there were no heaters on, the room temperature was uncomfortably low. Finally, the food came. The two special rolls we ordered tasted pretty much the same. The deluxe sashimi only had 3 pieces of tuna, salmon, hamachi, and another fish we couldnt identify. There was nothing deluxe about it at all! What a ripoff! The food was not enough for us, so we ordered an unagi don, an udon, and a deep fried roll. As we waited, we continued to be bombarded by the waitresses, as if we were there for too long, and we were wasting their time. When our orders were done, they were delivered to the wrong table, by two different waittresses. At this point we were done with this shit and wanted to leave asap. We could no longer enjoy the food. The male restroom smelled really pungent. Smelled like methane. Tl;dr long wait times for food, annoying service, mediocre food, restrooms smell like the sewer. read more
