I only had a few hours left before I had to skip town, so I came here with a friend for a quick lunch since it was near her office and she was holding my luggage before my flight. I opted for the spicy chicken-don meal. Spicy is relative, but this truly was HOT! Tasted like a ground chili paste slathered on the chicken. It was flavorful, but slightly bitter and not as smooth as I'm used to. It had a slightly sandy texture to it. The sauce would've been great had it not compeltely covered EVERYTHING, including most of the rice and the salad with ginger dressing. But it was still good. Also, I didn't really care for the cold edamame without any kind of salt, pepper or seasoning. But for my money's worth, I got plenty of HOT [emphasis added to show just how HOT!! it was] chicken and rice to keep me happy. read more

Come here for the lunch special - simple salad, steamed rice with cabbage, dumplings and delicious sushi. And it is CHEAP. Came here around 6 pm and the owners were very nice and still allowed us to purchase food with the lunch special price ($5.99). California rolls tasted very fresh - they even doubled our order, let us substitute portions of it and gave us free miso soup as we were eating. The owners/people working there were very nice. My 5-stars is based on the one dish I get every time - Salmon Combo. My friends who are less monotonous than I have always enjoyed their meals. The fish is always incredibly sweet and refreshing. Not a bad mid-week lunch stop. This place gets pretty crowded for lunch, traffic started dying down around 1:30pm. If you're eating in, you'll have to awkwardly stand next to a table that's wrapping up. We ordered and waited about 15-20 mins before the food came out. They do serve green tea in a large jug in the front so you don't have to wait for someone to bring it out for you. Lunch specials are super affordable and it makes sense why it becomes a popular spot for lunch. There's different specials for each day of the week. No issues with food or service, all A-ok. This place is a great find, and has quickly become my new favorite lunch spot. The have a special for $5.99 every day, with either beef/chicken/tofu, rice, veggies, edamame, salad, and miso soup. I always get the spicy chicken don, even if it's not on special, and I still walk out for less than $10. The chicken is really good and flavorful, the edamame and veggies aren't anything super special, but I like that they get added in so I feel like I'm being semi-healthy. I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed. The best part is the variety; you can go by size or dish. Suki Asia serves some huge portions, but you can go for a single roll if you don't want much. Their eel bowl used to be my favorite. I want to like this place, but a large piece of me can't go over 3 stars. First time I went, I got a tuna and avocado roll and bibimbap. I walked up to my office, and was overcome by the smell of the bibimbap. It was horrible and the beef looked very low quality. I literally threw it away without even tasting it. This place isn't for a special occasion or anything of the like. It's a simple place with decent sushi at a good price. The staff is really nice and I've gotten the salmon chirashi (with the miso soup), the avocado roll, the spicy tuna, and the salmon sushi and they've always been pretty good. The service was friendly but the sushi was really meh. I asked for two California rolls and was directed to the rolls made earlier that morning, packed for easy pick up and go. I understand why they do this but freshly made sushi would have been nice. The sushi was $5.50 for 6 pieces which wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't mostly rice. I am awed by the reviewer who stated that Jack's Fresh has better food. I come here semi-regularly and grab either a Tofu-don or a bowl of miso soup and seaweed salad. Both are very tasty. I've gotten their sushi now and then, too (including today, which was a special), and it's consistently good. Not the best sushi around, but for a quick fix/healthy meal, it's great. Their Udon soup is also very good. Both the Udon and their whatever-"don" bowls as well as their bento boxes are a LOT of food. Come hungry. Suki Asia is a good quick spot at which to grab lunch downtown. It includes a limited but quite reasonable set of Japanese and Korean dishes, many of which are accompanied by your choice of soup (miso) or small salad. The bibimbap and bentos are quite popular. I'd give this place a 3.5. This is located right under my office, so it's convenience that I really like about Suki Asia. Is it the best Asia food I've ever had? No. But when the urge for sushi or beef don hits, it's a pretty reliable place. The have daily specials, where for under $7 (or $5 something plus tax) you get an entree and soup/soda. The portions are usually pretty big. Sushi is okay, a little expansive for the product you get, but satisfies any sushi craving. They get busy around lunch time, so if you can, call ahead, it's usually ready in 10 mins or less that way. The staff is really friendly too, which is a plus. After my move from NYC to DC, I was craving a cheap roll combo. The sushi here is ok, but just okay. I got the salmon tuna combo (I was disappointed that they didn't offer a standard "choose any x rolls" special) which included a spicy tuna roll and three pieces each of salmon and tuna, with soup and "salad" First, the sushi pieces themselves were good. The spicy tuna roll had ridiculously spicy sauce on top (and I love spicy food!) which made me suspicious that they were covering up subpar fish. That being said, it's not like it made me sick or anything. Given the price (the meal and a can of soda cost $16!) the sides could have been better. Edamame was fine, but the salad was like, some pieces of lettuce with a gross dressing on top. And the miso soup was very salty but otherwise bland broth, with no seaweed or tofu. I assume it came from a mix. All in all, it's not gross or anything, but I could have gotten the same amount of sushi at whole foods for that price. Went here for lunch. The wait was pretty long, we probably spent 20-25 minutes waiting for our Pho and it was very hot inside. The chicken pho was just okay, the broth was a little flavorless with not that much chicken and the noddles were broken up into small pieces which made it hard to eat. This place is DIVINE. I go almost every day. First of all, the owners are SUPER friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Secondly, the taste...have you ever had sushi that just literally melts in your mouth? Here, you can get those. They have sushi rolls, sushi bowls, even bibimbap, Japanese curry, udon, unagi, and so much more. They even told me that they are adding healthy fruit smoothies on the menu for the summer, yay! The menu selection is so huge, I am not sure if I can try it all out in weeks or even months! Anyway, this place is worth the trip even if you are kind of far from the neighborhood. She said that it was our mistake and she felt so annoyed. This place was definitely a gem and I feel so lucky to have found it. I moved to DC as part of a study abroad(within the US, not really abroad...) and internship program with the University of California and we actually had our facilities just a block around the corner from Suki Asia and I must say I went there quite a bit, probably at least twice a week. I always ordered the Bimbimbap or the Sushi Sashimi combo, sometimes both... I totally forgot to write a review for this place when I was there, so this is long overdue. Being from California and spoiled by all the Asian cuisine around me and my dad's amazing Chinese cooking, it was pretty hard getting used to not having that readily available. Suki satisfied my cravings as I love sushi and sashimi. The quality of their ingredients and fish are great and the prices are very affordable. The owners are very friendly and you can see the chef prepare the food right in front of you. After going their so much, I started addressing them as aunt and uncle haha. They fed me so well and no matter what I ordered they always gave me something extra. I am very grateful to Suki because without them I probably would have starved haha. I eat here at least twice a week, it is sort of quick comfort lunch food for me. I always get the bibimbap lunch special with miso. A totally reasonably priced lunch for $6 bucks with relatively quick turn around if you wait till after the big lunch rush. There are not a lot of seats here, so if you are trying to eat-in you might find yourself out of luck, but I always get it to go. I don't think anything here is exceptional or out of this world, but it's a solid offering in a part of town that really lacks decent food. I passed by here many times over the past year, as it is on my walk home. But one day I finally processed what the place was. As soon as I saw it on the menu, I knew it'd probably get a bento box. If nothing else, it's fun to say! Anyway I got the sashimi bento box. The sashimi was alright. Sushi is not something I eat regularly and I don't consider myself an expert on it, although I suppose anyone can tell when it tastes "bad", or unfresh. It did not on my visit. Why have I not found this place sooner?! Since my arrival in DC I've been on a desperate hunt to find some decent Asian food and low-and-behold it was literally right next to me! D'OH. The location of Suki Asia is completely unassuming and I hardly expected this place to churn out the quality of food + affordable prices that it did but I am happy to admit I was wrong. I came at a random time, around 5ish so the place was completely deserted. At first I thought this was a bad sign till I opened up my order of bulgogi bibimbap when I got back to my apartment. Inside was a beautifully composed dish -- fresh veggies, tender meat, perfectly cooked rice, & other yummy toppings that are normally found in bibimbap. And for a dish that's usually served in a hot pot, this was beyond what I expected! Yelpers, if you are reading this and you are a fan of bibimbap like me, please try Suki Asia. I try to not eat out much at work, but after catching a cold, I wanted a nice bowl of Pho. Cue the most convenient Asian spot just a couple blocks from my office! I loved the pho - a very generous portion and you can add hoisin and hot sauce. They also make sushi that looks amazing that I want to come back for. DO...NOT...GO....HERE! I wandered across the street from my office in search of a "decent" roll and some miso soup. When I got there, I decided to give it a fair chance. The place was reasonably crowded and looked clean. THEN THE DISASTER BEGINS! When they rang up my order it was $15. 15 Dollars!?@$()@#E I mean, what did I order? Sushi lined with gold? I ordered two rolls and a miso soup. The rolls were California and some kind of philadelphia roll. Outrageous. Then they proceeded to make my sushi...which took literally 25 minutes. My order was to go and this was just completely unacceptable. There were two people in front of me who were complaining about the slowness as well... Then I noticed something that made me want to just leave and ask for my money back...the sushi guys pulled NOT ONE but TWO hairs out of a box of sushi rice they were using to make the rolls. That is not sanitary! They finally decided to just start with a whole new box of rice and smiled nervously at me..knowing I had just watched them! CUT BACK TO OFFICE Back at the office I am still bitter that I paid $15 for a cup of soup and two measly rolls. The sushi was not only not-fresh looking, but tasted old as well. DO NOT eat the raw fish here. I think it might make you sick. Also, the miso soup was terrible. I consider myself a miso soup afficionado and this was just not up to par.
