First time dining in at Nozy -- had takeout of the uni (sea urchin) don previously some years ago…read more(which was quite good). Came here with a friend, and we both ordered kaisen don and shared an okonomiyaki pancake appetizer and a hot sake. The okonomiyaki was delicious -- it had been sliced into pieces and then deep fried, which is a nice twist; topped with bonito and served with some kind of spicy mayo sauce. Kaisen don was excellent -- looks smallish but was quite filling in fact, thanks to the nice bed of subtly seasoned rice underneath the mini-mountain of various sashimi, which tasted fresh and was well-presented. There was also a piece of uni on it, which I enjoyed immensely. Sake was pretty good too, a warm alternative for winter. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Love the down-to-earth atmosphere of the place, it really feels like a neighbourhood favourite. We had come early-ish for our reservation, and by the time we left, the resto was full -- a good sign. Only gripe was that the paper menu was a couple of bucks more expensive than what is posted online on the resto's website -- and only for some items, not all of them. But given the issue of inflation recently, it's understandable that restaurants can also barely keep up with rising prices for ingredients too. Overall, a tasty experience -- both my friend and I plan to come back.

Hey everyone!! Yes!! We are seeing the light at the…read moretunnel!!! MTL slowly opens up and we can finally dine in at our local restaurant! Here's the one of the firsts that my wife and I decided to go back! Service wise, they have only one waiter in front and he has to go into the kitchen to help from times to times, so it's not too notch service but still enjoyable and hear me out. We are all coming out slowly from a pandemic over a year. We are lucky that some business survive. It will take times for everyone to recover, so give it times, I'm sure they will get better! Food wise This is not a typical Japanese restaurant. So you'll be surprised. I ordered beef sando (beef sandwich) its not the one that I was expected so I was a bit disappointed until I have my first bite... The beef is actually very soft and tasty. I do wish the buns were hot/toasted but hey its still good nonetheless. Then I ordered the chef 5 choices as my main course... Why? I just don't know what to order, the best is to order this set menu so I can try a little bit of everything Hehe. It packed with fried chicken, pita chips with egg plan dip, takoyaki, salade and sashimi rice bowl (aka poke bowl). Everything is good and fresh... Unfortunately the rice was a little too warm for my taste. Price is acceptable, mind you this restaurant is known to have fresh fish and seafood, so really you pay for what you get and you won't be disappointed as an overall experience. If you haven't been there before, go ahead and try! If you have been there before... Well I'm pretty sure you're reading this to plan your next meal, right? :) Enjoy!

The sashimi slices were large and thick, and the seafood in the salad (shrimp, crab, octopus) was fresh! I'd recommend this place for a quick, yummy and healthy bite.

I wish I knew now hat I didn't know then. The building felt warm to a bit on the hot side when I walked in & my first bite seemed to play into that - everything tasted off & a bit old. The miso was kinda funky, chewy seaweed, & rubbery mushrooms, not good flavor at all. I could only manage 2 pieces of Deluxe Rainbow & barely 4 of the Summer Roll. The fish did not taste fresh. Service was good & ambiance is a small sushi joint that uses robots to bring your food. Sorta makes me wish they would have saved on "robot money" & used that for fresh fish refrigeration & storage. I do not recommend this place at all.

I heard some good things about this place, how it's one of the more authentic japanese restos in montreal. I went with 2 other people and it was a bit hectic, i felt bad for the waitress as she was rushing between tables so service was a bit lacking. We had to wait for quite some time. We ordered a few items. The food looked good but was quite pricey. The sunomono wasnt really what we were expecting, it was some sort of noodley cold dish and not a salad. The sashimi was good and fresh and the sushi was well prepared. But it wasn't really extraordinary and it was relatively expensive. Because of the price to quality ratio and the lack of service, i dont think I'd come back anytime soon.

Over the years I have pretty much tried everything on the menu, ranging from the sashimi to the teriyaki chicken. Everything is excellent, all the time. They have a lot of more creative dishes and rolls. I would highly recommend checking out the specialties section and chef selection. One of my all time favorite dishes is the Romeo & Juliette. A roll filled with different fishes and rolled in cucumber. So refreshing and perfect with the sauce they serve on the side. The last timeI had Shoji was last night amidst the covid-19 craziness. Thank you Uber Eats and Shoji! The service and delivery was incredibly fast and the chef surprised us (I asked for a surprise order) with some truffle sushi and foie gras sushi! Thank you so much! They asked if I wanted Bento or from the menu, and I wanted the menu items. I requested crab to be removed from the tayo ozisushi and they removed it with no hesitation. I also ordered the crunch salmon roll (don't remember the exact name) and the kind staff member ensured it didn't have crab in it. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and a quick walk around the block made the wait just fly by. The total for both dishes came to $19, which is a bit on the pricier side I suppose but reasonable for dinner for sure. The sushi tasted quite good I have to say. Very fresh and flavourful. You can definitely tell when the salmon is high grade and this place does it right! I forgot to ask if they could torch the ozisushi, maybe next time. It still tasted good though! I was enticed by the high Yelp reviews, and happy to also provide one. I'll definitely visit again for takeout!
