This is the worst restaurant in Winston. The food is awful. The spicy tuna was literally like mashed potatoes and toothpaste combined. Ambience was lame. The place is so cheaply decorated inside. Trying way too hard to be a cool fusion restaurant with very very poor execution.

We had read about this sushi place in Winston and put it onn9ur bucket list. We arrived without a reservation and the management team made every effort to accomodate us. We were seated and quickly was greeted with our hostess. She explained the various options and drinks. The food was exceptional and arrived quickly. Excellent selection of drinks and food options. Plenty of parking in the area. The ambieance was quiet, yet engaging.

Sushi Rose is a restaurant that combines Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. It is a very creative concept, but I didn't find that it hit the spot as much as I wanted it to. The restaurant itself was dark and modern. It felt like I was at a club, which I didn't feel like fit the vibe of a restaurant in downtown W-S (Bailey Park). The service was okay. Our waitress felt like she was running all around the restaurant, and she was not the most friendly. Our interactions felt rushed. The food and drinks were pretty good! I will say if you're going to Sushi Rose, you have to get a drink and the Crispy Sushi! I got a fall seasonal drink (the whiskey sour), and it was very tasty. The Crispy Sushi is also amazing - I could've just ordered like 3 of them as my meal. So good! As for the rolls, there was just something that didn't taste right with them. I was getting a celery aftertaste, which didn't sit right with me. The plantain mash on the Brûlée signature roll was rather underwhelming and unflavored. It felt like an unnecessary mushy addition. The Tuna Luna roll was the better of the two, but it still didn't wow me with flavor. They felt plain. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but Sushi Rose unfortunately left me unsatisfied.

This place is truly a gem. We arrived in the area late Friday, looking for a place to eat. After Googling a few options, we decided to give this place a try. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately impressed by the ambiance--from the chic décor to the low, intimate lighting and beautiful wallpaper. Since we wanted to try the unique Nikkei cuisine, our bartender, Marcus, made some excellent recommendations. We started with the Achvicado Roll, grilled pulpo tacos, and fish tacos. The presentation was phenomenal, and the food was exceptionally impressive. As we were about to order a second round of food, we had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant owners, Kat and Jay. Hearing their story about bringing Sushi Rose to life truly made the dining experience unforgettable. You could feel their joy and passion for creating such a lovely place. Kat's final recommendation--and my personal favorite--was the Lomo Saltado Roll. The flavors blended beautifully: shrimp tempura sushi rolls with plantain purée, topped with fries, grilled vegetables, and lomo saltado (steak). I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back if we're ever in town again!

Met Karen and Nevin by chance. They're super cool, and this venue perfectly reflects their lively west coast vibes. (You must come inside to see it). We've always enjoyed Peruvian/ Japanese dinning. Impressed how Sushi Rose represented Winston-Salem. The crispy rice sushi tasted like an award winning dish in a big city (aka NYC). Lomo Saltado and ceviche best other places we've tried. Highly recommend!

Ate here while I was in Winston Salem and I absolutely would not return. The food was overpriced and bland. Sushi was falling apart yet sticky at the same time. The Peruvian fusion just seems so unnecessary, master one cuisine before you try to combine two. Our server was nice but she was also clueless when it came to the menu and could not answer most of our questions. The atmosphere overall is just...weird. Wallpaper on half the wall, couches, cheap luxe looking furniture. It was SO DARK, like a night club, and unbearably cold inside. There were tiny lights on the table, but they were so weak and eventually ours just went out. I'm sure there are much much better sushi offerings in the triad.

This restaurant had a great atmosphere and was fun for a birthday. I recommend it for larger group events. However, the service was slow this night due to having only one bar tender. They also make no requests or preference accommodations to the menu which I didn't love because it was on the higher side of price for sushi. The rainbow roll and spicy tuna roll were good but not the best I've had in Winston. I would go for the ceviche and the tacos here! Those were super delicious. Would go back for celebration events but not for every day.

Spontaneous foodie adventures always hit different! We finally made it to Sushi Rose, and it was beyond worth it--10/10 experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. Our server, Kiarra, was an absolute delight, and the entire staff was super welcoming. Even as someone who isn't a huge sushi fan, I genuinely enjoyed every bite! This restaurant is perfect for a small get together with friends, but to me it was giving more date night vibes. Here's what we ordered: Calamari - Perfectly crispy and paired with a flavorful aji cilantro sauce. Firey Ceviche - Spicy mahi-mahi with choclo corn, citrus lime salt, and crispy calamari for the perfect crunch. Lomo Saltado - A classic Peruvian dish with tender beef, stir-fried onions, tomatoes, and fries. Scottish Salmon Maki - Fresh salmon, sweet mango, snow crab, and ikura with a touch of lemon zest. The fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors here is next level! If you're in the area, go try it--you won't regret it. Final Verdict: 10/10 - Amazing food, excellent service, and a spot I'd definitely return.

I dined at Sushi rose for the first time for lunch today! At lunch time, they are currently offering a buy one sushi roll and get one half off so that is what I did. I got the achiviedo (spelling may be off) and katana rolls. Both were nice, both had unique sauces from other sushi places. I would say the quality was on par with any of the better sushi establishments in town. I didn't try their Peruvian cuisine so I will hold my judgment on if the place truly offers something unique but it was a nice, if not pricey lunch. Even with the BOGO half off, it was still a $33 lunch after tip which is pretty steep in my world. The service was exceedingly friendly but the restaurant was also nearly empty, only me and another couple. The food took an extremely long time to come out as well. The venue itself is gorgeous and high end looking. I really enjoyed the vibe of the space. Overall a very worthy spot to try at least once!

I thought I had taken the time to give them a review the first time I went there. WHAT CAN I SAY? This restaurant became one of my favorites the moment I sipped the cocktail that had Peruvian Pisco. The place was packed but they were able to accommodate us, so reservations are highly recommended. The ambiance, food, service, drinks is simply top tier.

Sushi Rose seemed so promising from their Yelp reviews but it was unfortunately a big disappointment. The sake is basic and they only have 3 different types of Ozeki which is low quality sake. Our server was clueless about the menu and didn't have any recommendations almost like she had never eaten fish. This is supposedly a Peruvian influenced menu with ceviche being authentic. It wasn't and had zero flavor. We had some nigiri and it was unfortunately. The experience was lackluster and the prices are way too high for WS.

If you're in the mood to try some fun fusion flavors, in a very aesthetic very LA / Miami style restaurant.. this is it. Our server was FANTASTIC. So kind and sweet and explained the concept of the restaurant for us. I will say - we were seated almost at lounge chairs and the table was low. Not sure if I was a fan of that, as it made it hard to eat. But at least we weren't eating pasta. The service was fantastic , and we even ordered something off menu and they accommodated us. The owner was personable and made our experience memorable. While the food, yes was expensive, it exceeded my expectations. The grilled octopus appetizer was cooked so beautifully, almost a medium cook on it. Not rubbery at all. So perfectly charred on the outside, yet tender. Favorite dish. Please order that if you're reading this. The dishes are a fun fusion of Peruvian cuisine and Japanese cuisine. I preferred the Lomo Saltado Roll to the dish. The plantain puree surrounding the roll and the acidity of the vegetables and the savory steak .. it was truly like an exploration of textures and flavor. The ceviche roll was so interesting and again, the texture was the star here with the Peruvian corn and the contrast of the marinated fish in lime juice. Please come visit. But don't expect traditional rolls or pure Japanese cuisine. Come in with no expectations and explore the flavors and it's a treat.

Nice ambiance and the service staff were nice and fast. The actual food though is mediocre. The sushi at Sam's Club is better.

We sat outside for dinner and had an amazing culinary experience. The heater was on just right, the food was amazing, and the service was great. Responsive but not too pushy. We started with the bread service and it blew us both away. The breads were all so flavorful (and we're a sourdough family). It was on another level. The spreads were fantastic and he even enjoyed an olive tapenade even though he's not an olive guy. For dinner we got steak frites and a fish special that had a crab beurre blanc sauce. Both were fantastic, and we'd order them again in a heartbeat. The price for a great experience like that was totally affordable. We've paid more and received less. So get here and enjoy yourself! Might want to make reservations though if it's a weekend...

These were truly the most flavorful things on the menu and they set this restaurant apart from all others so it's extremely disappointing. The new chef from French Laundry (or so I was told) changed their bruschetta and bruschetta and now it's mostly greasy and has very little balsamic. Their French Onion soup is still delicious with a flavorful broth and nicely melted cheese. It's a very narrow old building so seating on either side is not very comfortable, but we have stayed to hear a set from a jazz band that was enjoyable.

I actually found I liked this place much better for many reasons. Much more room as far as tables and bar area go. Great atmosphere and better service. Also come take a look at this bar... it's awesome! I love the wood they use throughout the restaurant and just the feel of the place is classy. You can get your sage and salt food here too plus they have a fantastic raw bar here. A terrific drinks menu and a pretty amazing wine list. Also take in the wine cellar when you walk in. Not many places in Winston have one like that. They have wine by the glass on the menu but ask for that wine list it's pretty nice. We got a bottle of the petit Syrah recommended by their wine guy who came and asked us what we wanted and came up with the bottle with our price point. This bottle will be in my to find list as it was really good and smooth and went with our meal so well. Not bad for the $70. We tried the bread service which comes with good butter, tapenade and a tomato Pesto. Loved the crunchy whole grain! Nice cornbread too and a white bread. Also the crunchy twice battered fries are a must! So they have several types of oysters, we went with four different ones out fantastic server Katherine talked about. These were all served on ice with cocktail sauce, hot sauce, lemon, mignonette and a hot mustard . Each one was so different. Loved each one and they were all kinda meaty. Even the smaller shell ones. They were shucked perfectly and we had little to do but dress them up and slurp them ! Most are North Carolina oysters and they have a nice variety. Enjoyed this course very much! They also have a skewers menu with some meat, fish and veggie options. This was fun to pick out ... we tried the octopus and the special of the day was the swordfish so that sounded really good. These were also another hit on the palate. The octopus was cooked well and I feel like they gave us a little extra :)... swordfish was so good, had a citrus marinade and pickled onions and an avocado mousse. Nice flaky fish. Loved these skewers. We rounded it all off with the caramel cheesecake which was of course awesome. Creamy, great crust, solid slice, with a caramel drizzle and citrus and mint on top. Couldn't ask for a better end. Well except for those espresso martinis! The Station was a total surprise and one I shall be returning to . They have live music on Friday and Saturday, would recommend reservations those nights. You have to call sage and salt for reservations... it's a little confusing as there isn't really a website for The station. Great meal our first time. you definitely taste the freshness.
