What a NICE surprise! Who would think that you'd find a quality sushi restaurant all the way out here? I mean, I'd have to guess there are maybe 10 restaurants inside 10 miles of this place, so this is pretty much the boonies. The staff very friendly and treat you like family. What a gem in my neighbourhood! We're tried this place twice and twice were incredibly happy. This unassuming restaurant is found in a little strip mall in Helendale. The staff are warm and friendly and the restaurant is clean and simple. The sushi is fantastic! We're tried the garlic crunch roll, Silver Lakes roll, California roll and the 9 piece sashimi. All were fresh, beautiful and delicious! I would 100% order them again. To top it all off, the prices are super reasonable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because they do not serve liquor. I really like a hot sake with my sushi :-/ UPDATE: Super disappointed with my order today. I ordered 2 sashimi combos and when I got home and opened them, they were the tiniest, thinnest pieces of sashimi I have ever received. Nice and quiet little restaurant. Their dining room was closed but they opened it up to us. The lady told us that they don't usually get people dining in and most of their orders were for pick up. We chose a room with a view of the lake, which was nice. The food was great. We ordered several rolls and they were amazing. Service was a little slow, but I think it was because there are only a couple people working there and the lady that let us in was also helping customers at their pickup counter. The restaurant was very cozy and you can hear them prepare your meal in the background. If you're out in Helendale, this is definitely a place you want to visit. read more

Honestly, this is one of the best sushi I have had. We ordered LA roll, one heck of the roll, and garlic roll. La roll has fresh salmon n spicy tuna n spicy oil. I normal don't eat raw fish but I have a couple bites. They taste really good. This place becomes one of my favorite spot when I visit in town. I wish they will go to Orange County!! I actually had a bit of a situation with this restaurant where they billed me an incorrect amount. However, by the time I'd noticed the owners had already called their bank to resolve the issue. It was taken care of very professionally and responsibly, and they were apologetic and accommodating throughout the whole process. Aside from all that, the food here is incredible. The Golden Boy is my personal favorite so far, but I've yet to try them all. It's definitely a small place. The scenery isn't a good indicator of the quality of the sushi. My only issue with Sushi Plus is the wait time, but you could easily work around that by just calling ahead of time. You can't rush perfection afterall. read more

The last time I was there was last year and I forgot to post a review but I had posted the pictures in my IG and now I remembered to note this place because it's just mind blowing blast of flavors and freshness! I decided to give this place another chance. This time I was able to get an order in. I ordered a baked roll. What I received was a cold roll for $17 that I took two bites of and threw in the trash. Hubby stumbled into this place while getting food from another restaurant (he was pulling off what he would call dad's dinner where he will got to 3-4 restaurants and order a few things to try out and go home and do it up buffet style), and wanted to try the food around the area out (his daughter just moved around here so food scoping time).. The crunchy roll consist of crab, avocado, shrimp tempura, and tempura crumbles (usually has cucumber but we minuses it).. The dragon roll consist of CA roll topped with eel & avocado.. And the third and final roll we got was the 911 roll which is a spicy tuna roll topped with avocado.. While we waited we got to chat up the sushi chef there his name was Ben, he's super friendly and welcoming.. He's also super passionate about the food he puts out and takes huge pride in what he does.. Ben, hubby and I all share the same philosophy when it comes to food, take pride, passion in what you make, what you put out and never give anyone something you would never eat yourself.. I hugely respect that being a chef myself.. The was a bit of a wait but totally worth the wait because you can see the time, effort, the freshness of the product and beauty that goes into the food.. Ben made Hubby & I a amuse-bouche of a salmon belly nigiri, and OMG!! It was like heaven in my mouth, it just melted against my tongue and went down so smoothy.. Everything he made was so beautifully put together (take a look at the photos posted by other reviewers and myself and you'll see what i mean), it captives your eyes and also your taste palette, which works for me because when food this appealing to the eyes its just that more delicious when you're eating it.. Everything we ate from here was so delicious, it all melts in your mouth and it has a delicacy to it.. Grace was there too and she's always smiling and so polite.. Our family is huge sushi eaters, we all agree that is is one of the best places around that we've ever had the pleasure eating at.. Best sushi in the high desert period.. Ok, so here is the deal, although I love my sushi, I am also super picky about where I eat it. I don't eat at places super far inland because, I mean, FISH, but this place always has the freshest catch. I have traveled all over the country and I have eaten at far too many sushi places to count and this is by far my favorite.
