We've stopped at Samurai Sushi several times over the years while driving between Las Vegas and Southern California, and the food has always been good enough to bring us back. Unfortunately, this visit felt very different. We arrived around noon, and the restaurant was completely empty. They had several TVs, so I asked if they could put on the World Cup. Our waitress declined, explaining that when games are on, customers tend to stay long after they've finished eating. While I understand that may be their policy, it didn't feel very customer-friendly, especially with no other patrons in the restaurant. I also asked if there was an outlet where I could charge my phone. When we found a nearby table with a wall plug, I asked if we could switch tables since we'd only been served water. The waitress said it would be "too confusing for the system" because our orders had already been placed, despite the restaurant being empty. She did offer to charge my phone from an outlet in the hallway, which I appreciated. I asked if they had a few of our favorite sushi items--things like a Las Vegas roll, Orange Blossom roll, or salmon collar (all very common at sushi restaurants back home in Las Vegas). The response seemed more confused than helpful, and overall the interaction just didn't feel very welcoming. On the positive side, they brought out complimentary shishito peppers and radish as an appetizer, which was a nice touch. My daughter really enjoyed the salmon teriyaki, and we also liked the chicken teriyaki roll. At the end of the meal, we had to flag someone down for our check and for to-go boxes while the staff was busy cleaning tables. We were handed a wet plastic bag to pack up our leftovers, which was an odd way to end the experience. Overall, the food was better than the customer service. We'd still consider stopping again because the food is decent, but we hope the hospitality improves. A more welcoming attitude would go a long way. read more

We got the Green Train and Black Snake rolls, and both were delicious. The Green Train was a bit spicier, but still very flavorful. I loved that there's a tablet at each table, it made it easy to take my time browsing the menu and looking at photos before placing our order. The servers were friendly, and there was plenty of seating inside. They even gave us a complimentary appetizer, which was such a nice surprise and tasted great. I stopped by in the afternoon, and there was a steady stream of customers coming in, so it seems like a popular spot. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm driving through Victorville! read more

I will call this place the hidden gem of the High Desert. Service was excellent, as soon as we arrived we were greeted with kind and friendly hospitality! We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday and overall had a good experience with some highlights and a few small misses. We started with the miso soup very flavorful, though the tofu was a bit overcooked. The edamame was perfect. I ordered the rainbow roll and the fish itself was super fresh and very flavorful, but unfortunately the roll had a heavy rice-to-fish ratio, which made it a bit dry. On the other hand, the salmon belly sashimi was excellent thick cut, incredibly fresh, and easily one of the best items we had. Highly recommend that. My mom got the Superman burrito and really enjoyed it very good and huge portion. My fiancé ordered the cilantro roll and added lemon. Again, the fish was very fresh, but the roll was cut a bit too large and had too much rice, which threw off the balance and made it dry. My dad had the teriyaki lunch bowl and had no complaints at all said it was very flavorful and finished the entire dish. The staff and chefs were very nice, and they even brought us a complimentary fried jalapeño dish, which was surprisingly really good we'd definitely order that again. The ambiance was great nice décor and a very comfortable, welcoming vibe. We stopped over for lunch to try some of their great specials. Started off with the yellowtail sashimi topped with jalapeño, cilantro, and ponzu. Along with Peter's appetizer of fresh tuna wrapped with cucumber, sweet onion, and radish sprout. The Monday roll specials are on point. Ordered up the Alaska roll with the deep fried salmon on top and also the ninja roll. The portions were huge and full of flavor. For the main courses we picked up the lunch special udon with California roll, lunch special udon with sushi, and the salmon teriyaki with tempura.
