It's not a large restaurant, but the service and quality are spot on. The variety of sushi from nigiri, sashimi, rolls, signature rolls, and even chef specials is refreshing to see. I loved the assortment to choose from, and the ratio of rice to fish was nicely balanced. There are appetizers and ice cream to choose from which make dining here a pleasure for a variety of palates. Service was friendly and checked in regularly ensuring we had drinks topped off and any new orders put in. My party enjoyed the presentation of sushi placed on a boat, the good service, and decor. Time and time again, Sushi Nova continues to be a consistently FANTASTIC and delicious AYCE sushi spot. Anytime I've been in town and have a sushi craving, this is my go-to and has been for the past 5 years. Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, the menu has a wide variety of options - including appetizers, traditional rolls, specialty rolls, and so on - and the food is always fresh, made-to-order, and leaves my tastebuds doing backflips! This time around, we ordered our usual appetizers - crab rangoons, shrimp shumai, chicken karaage, & miso soup - as well as a handful of rolls including the color dragon roll, regular dragon roll, fire dragon roll, yelllow tail roll, the sweet 16 roll, and an assortment of nigiri and sashimi. We ordered enough sushi to have it served on a boat (which is always such an exciting feeling!!). As usual, everything was fresh and tasty! Great value of course when you get all you can eat. It certainly is the reason so many people like this Westmont sushi restaurant. Sushi Nova is much better than it looks because the place is so unassuming. Fill up on the best stuff that doesn't taste like it was premade hours ago. The only thing is just eat it all or they will charge you for leftovers. Coming here at lunch is the best value you can get. It's also open at dinner when there's more stuff. The restaurant actually wasn't that busy the last time. Apparently enough that it got slow at times waiting for food. The prices are okay for each roll but why not just get as much as possible and not pay for more. It's about $25 at lunch. You fill out a paper. Appetizers include miso soup, and salad, along with things like sesame balls. Of course the rolls are the main thing. Get as many as you can. We got the Avocado, the Oshinko, and the Shiitake rolls. In the last one they put eel sauce on it. Just be sure to leave it off even though the rolls are in the vegetarian section. They have dinner at about $32 and this has even more options. Get fancier rolls that previously weren't available. There's a crap ton for real and it's a wonder people aren't rolled out after getting stuffed. We were in a mood for some sushi so we decided to check out Sushi Nova after a nice day out. It was our first time there so we didn't know what to expect. We got seated pretty quickly and service was fast. The sushi options were also huge with lots and lots of options to choose from. The sushi was pretty standard. My only complaint is that they put wayyyyy too much rice on the nigiri. I don't usually mind it but it just felt imbalanced. The restaurant has very strict rules about ordering your sashimi only after you've ordered a roll. I ordered a roll the first time I ordered and forgot to put down that I wanted sashimi so I added it to my next order but they rejected me; saying it had to be in the order form from the first time I ordered which makes no sense. If you're going to put so much rice on the nigiri you can at least let us order more sashimi so we don't end up wasting food. Thankfully our server was nice enough to talk to the managers and got us the sashimi anyway. All in all it was okay. There was only one waitress for the whole place, which isn't large, but was busy. She was a little slow, se we didn't get to order any more after our first round. Not big on AYCE at my age. Usually I feel like the quantity over quality isn't worth it. BUT, this place has ikura as part of their selection. And it was pretty good. I feel like I haven't seen that at other sushi buffets, so that was unique enough to make the place stand out to me. I would steer clear of the fried items, the batter is kind of heavy and just not worth filling up on when you can have nigiri. The fish quality itself is what you expect. So busy talking and eating we forgot to take pictures. We ordered edamame, soft shell crab and calamari for appetizer. Good first portions as that would limit the sushi we would order. On a rainy day, me and my sister were craving the best food ever: Sushi. As we walked in we got seated right away. Service is good and quick. Me and my sister ordered a couple sashimi and 3 rolls. Got our food in 15 minutes. (ALL YOU CAN EAT) Ambiance was calm and music was great, lots of old and new trendy songs, it's dim and relaxing, love the artwork on the walls and comfortable seating. First complaint I have is the water. When we got it I noticed a black spec floating in the water. We weren't sure what it was, but if I were to guess, I could've been mildew. We asked for a now cup and it didn't have any, but it seems that the cups had stickers inside of them and the residue wasn't removed which can peel off with a straw and leave micro paper floating in the water. We decided to drink from our own water bottles at that point... Appetizers were good, edemame was tender, chewy and perfectly salted. Fried oyster is crunchy in the outside soft and melts in your mouth on the inside. Baked mussel was okay, chewy but bland, and overpriced. (2 for 6.50?) The sushi came in 15 minutes and the servings were huge. The Philadelphia roll was filled with salmon and cream cheese and it was so soft and creamy. Love it! The sashimi was super fresh. Coming inside you can already tell that this place is a very quick fast paced. Fish was frozen granted we walked in 15 minutes after opening.. but it was disappointing for some reason every time we come here the fish is not as fresh as I am used to from sushi TAKU in the city. The calamari had rancid oil smell and bad taste, stay away from anything fried since they don't change their oil. It was right after opening the oil they fry in should have been fresh. Pretty good for what you pay! We did not opt for the all-you-can eat but we did order a ton of food for a table of 6. We ordered crab rangoon, soft shell crab, shrimp tempura, nigiri, sashimi, a couple of rolls, and friend rice. I would say the salmon was really good and everything else was decent - tuna, hamachi, etc. The only thing that I don't recommend is the soft shell crab - which was fried and so incredibly crunchy you could chip your tooth on it. My last comment is regarding the service - which was not great but don't blame the servers - the place was full and there were only 3 of them running around trying to keep up on a Saturday night. Wow! For sushi in the suburbs, this place knocks it out of the park! We had some pretty low expectations for sushi in the suburbs, but this place delivered on both price (reasonable) and quality (fresh!) We ordered dinner for our family a couple weeks ago and tried a smattering of their sashimi (namely scallops and salmon) and a bunch of different rolls. The person on the phone was polite and professional, and the food came out promptly. I thought it was all very well-plated and for the money, we were wowed. The standout here was the scallops - they were twice as big as the ones from Lawrence Fish Market - and just as fresh. And the rolls were pretty tasty as well. If I had to present one small gripe, it's that we didn't get all that much wasabi. We are big wasabi eaters and they probably gave us a good amount, but again we are big wasabi eaters. Hands down one of the best all you can eat sushi places I've been to in IL! I love how fresh the food is, and everything is made to order. The sushi portions itself are decent. However, if you ordered seaweed salad, it's enough for like 2 bites. I came here with my friend for dinner, and it was not bad for $30/person. You can pick appetizers, soup, salad, fried rice, nigiri, signature rolls, regular rolls, vegetable roll, sashimi, dessert etc. Anything you can imagine they have. They also have a la carte options. We were able to eat more because we both shared a couple of rolls, and we also ordered other items. They have pens at each table and booth, and they bring you a sheet of paper to fill out if you opt for all you can eat. The a la carte menu gives you pictures and descriptions which I appreciate. They also have a drink menu. The spicy 2 in 1 signature roll is definitely the highlight of the night. There's also plenty of free parking that's shared with the strip mall. They have some delicious combos and builds however if you're doing sushi you've got to, got to GOT TO use sushi rice. Not the same rice that goes in a fried rice. The texture was off and the roll too loose and was falling apart. It's unfortunate because as I said the recipes are good otherwise. The fried rice was really good. If you have been to Sushi Taku in Chicago then Sushi Nova is pretty similar to Sushi Taku. Great AYCE sushi spot in the burbs to eat your heart out. The menu are pretty similar with one another but I think I would recommend Sushi Taku over Sushi Nova because of the freshness of the sushi. Last time i came, my stomach was not so happy with me so ever since then I do not come to sushi nova no more. If you like sushi, I would give this spot a try. read more

Had to ask for extra napkins. No hi/hello when we got seated however when about to sign receipt for tip, that's the only time seen her smile. Hi everyone! Let me rant about this small yet fully loaded eatery in Westmont. It is located in a small strip mall next to a deli , and let me tell you I was amazed on how fresh the nigiri was and how the maki rolls make you want to order more and more. They have an ala carte menu but I prefer their AYCE lunch or dinner menu. Some of the rolls I have not seen at other establishments and I can see why. The dishes are delicious, flavorful, and not too overwhelming. The ambiance is a chill vibe with music of all kinds and relaxing atmosphere, and they serve sake , ( though I haven't tried any ). In the end it's an experience you want to try the price is well enough for the meal and you'll get a great feeling of fullness from it. Place is kid friendly as they do have a good amount of high chairs. Plenty of free parking in the small plaza. Only complaint would be that when it gets busy you can be waiting for quite a bit for your order to get made. And there's a limit of sashimi you can order per rolls ordered. The selection of appetizers is amazing. Fried oysters were 5/5 delicious. Sashimi salad alone was worth the all-you-can-eat entrance fee. Service was quick and very friendly. We had a booth and it was cozy and comfortable. Remember there's dessert. I would recommend getting the rolls instead of nigiri unless you love rice. A lot of it. They definitely pack each nigiri with a bulging clump of rice. Speaking of rice, I didn't taste any mirin and the texture was not sushi-rice.
