Beef Soft Tofu (Soondubu)
Andrew K.

I ordered the Beef Soon Tofu Soup, $11.95. It was served in a smaller Earthenware bowl, usually reserved for when the dish is served as a combo meal or as a side dish for a larger meal, not when it is the main course. The tofu was crumbly and not very creamy. While the broth had a good balance, the meat and the quality of other ingredients did not stand out. A bowl of rice, kimchi, and daikon radish accompanied the soup. The meal as a whole lacked distinct flavor and failed to impress. I was still hungry after finishing my dish, and I should have ordered an additional dish or appetizer. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. My meal and visit were not particularly noteworthy and did not leave a lasting, positive impression.

Today was my 3rd of 4th time here as it is the first place our granddaughter ate sushi. She loves it but she would also love gas station sushi. I am not much of a sushi snob but have a few key indicators of quality; how spicy is the wasabi?, how fresh is the fish? And how are the Nigiri fish portions? This establishment scores low on all three. I was tasked to pick out our rolls after we got a rainbow roll for our granddaughter. Nearly all of their "specialty" rolls had cream cheese or "spicy tuna". First, I am never going to eat cream cheese in a fish roll. Second, chili powder is often used in minced fish to cover up off flavors. I ordered another rainbow roll, an Alaska roll, and a Shadow Bridge roll. We never did receive the 2nd rainbow roll, the salmon on top of the Alaska Roll was small squares with a sesame oil that tasted a tad rancid, and the Shadow Bridge was a HUGE pile of fried onions with a roll underneath so it was heated. Needless to say we ate what we could and just agreed we would try a different place with her next time.

Tried the new sushi spot Sushi N Pop for lunch and really liked it. When you walk in, someone seats you right away. I got there around 12 and was seated super fast, there's a lot of seating inside. The waitress came by quickly to take our drink order and then our food. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, and it was really good. I love a good spicy tuna, and this one actually had a nice kick. I also tried the spicy crab roll. It wasn't very spicy, but it tasted fresh, which I liked. I tried the Sexy Cowboy roll too. It was just okay for me. It has shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and crab inside, topped with spicy tuna, avocado, and eel sauce. The best roll by far was the Hot Night That one was delicious. It has shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, and crab inside, topped with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and chili sesame sauce. The flavor was really good, and I was very happy with it. Everyone there was really friendly, and the sushi came out pretty quickly, which is perfect for lunch. We were in and out in about 35 minutes, so it's a great spot if you want good sushi and don't have a ton of time. I'd definitely go back

Togo Staff is amazing! I was greeted promptly. I order a Spider Max- no cucumber, no Ginger only wasabi. I did not check my order (next time I will) but I got no wasabi, and cucumber in my roll. I called asked if I could stop be after work to just get wasabi. The lady that answered said they will make another and sorry for the mistake. Just call when I am on my way. So I did.... They were so polite and even gave me extra wasabi. When I got home I opened the box and was not the same roll. I'm not sure what roll it is. I am giving 4 stars because they tried to make it go right. Was so polite and apologetic about it. The new roll was good, I did not eat The other bit gave it to my family who likes cucumbers.

Sashimi Salad

Very fresh every time. The sashimi salad has a great portion and a delicious dressing. The rolls are great. Have tried several different ones and each has been really good. Seaweed salad also good.

I'm a little confused. I order from here all the time from Door Dadh (don't judge me) - but what's with the prices? I know there's a mark-up on Door Dash: their website lists a cut CA roll for $6.50, sells on Door Dash for $8.50. A two dollar increase is already a lot but now theyre running a 'special': 2 cut CA rolls for $10.50 instead of $21. So...the regular mark-up is $2 more than their real price but $4 more on special???? The math aint mathing...

Cindy S.

Ordered through Uber Eats and was delivered quickly and accurately. The sushi was average--on par with what you would find at a grocery store. Satisfactory but nothing special. Saving grace was the massive amount of wasabi and ginger.

I always love dine here. All sushi maker is nice. Server always attentive. Food is always delicious.

This is my first time here and my dad said it was good, so I was looking forward to it. There were only two tables in the restaurant, but they made us wait to be seated. Most tables were left dirty, but we ended up being sat at a very large table for two. Service was not very well done, it was one of the family members birthdays, so they were all huddled around a cake that the mother had brought. The girl would occasionally check up on us or deliver food but wasn't too attentive. I'm all about a family establishment but service has to come first. Food was definitely good and I will add it to my list of sushi places that I like to go.

Salmon, skin hand rolls
T P.

I came here on a Sunday evening to pick up some rolls and a chicken teriyaki bowl. Plenty of parking in a private lot. I was immediately greeted by one of the waitresses. I placed an order for two salmon skin hand rolls, a spicy tuna cut roll, a spicy yellowtail cut roll and a teriyaki chicken bowl . I asked for extra, extra ginger as I like to eat ginger with my rolls. I was charged four dollars for a cup of ginger, which I thought was a little bit ridiculous considering I bought $57 worth of food. And I didn't need this much "extra" ginger. I enjoyed the hand rolls and the cut rolls. The chicken teriyaki bowl was a little bit boring. I wouldn't order the bowl again overall, I enjoyed the food and may return.

You know, coming from years of LA Korean food and then Bay Area Korean food, the Korean food you…read moreget from Korea Mart just doesn't hit. What I mean is that there is something about the Korean food made here that just tastes a bit different than what you'd otherwise get or expect from a more traditional and authentic Korean restaurant. That said, Korea Mart seemed to start off as a Korean mini market, with a small focus on prepared meals. That may have gained some popularity and the owner decided to shift their focus more towards the prepared food and less on the mini mart. The problem is that the prepared food, while focuses on traditional dishes, just doesn't taste traditional. There is something off about the dishes. For example, the Jajamyun's vegetables were very off. It lacked zucchini and the cabbage wasn't enough. The kicker is that the onions weren't even diced. The onions were in big chunks-which actually works sometimes, but made the dish feel lazily and hastily put together. Then, the tubboki was too saucy. Flavor wasn't too bad, but was too saucy. Finally, they refuse to give you an itemized receipt until you finalize payment with a tip? They charge $2 for rice when they don't advertise it anywhere and they ask how many you want without telling you, and rice isn't an extra charge in most Korean restaurants. Just overall pretty disappointed. But then again, Korean restaurant in Fresno was probably a "my bad" decision. Oh well. As for ambiance. It felt like you were eating in the back of a mini mart. Super dark from the outside gave it a weird vibe.

Unfortunately, the manager's unacceptable attitude completely ruined what should have been a pleasant night with family. Good food means very little when the people in charge treat their customers with such a lack of kindness and compassion. The most disappointing part of the evening was when I asked if my nephew, who has a disability, could bring his own food due to his situation. The manager immediately responded, "Not allowed to bring outside food." I tried to explain his circumstances, hoping for a little understanding and compassion, but she continued to say no. It took my brother speaking to her and practically begging before she finally agreed. The fact that we had to plead for basic understanding when it involved a family member with a disability was incredibly upsetting and completely unnecessary. As if that experience wasn't already unpleasant enough, when my husband politely asked if we could have tables close to one another so our family could sit together, the manager responded with an irritated attitude. While cleaning the table, she stomped the plate around in a way that made her annoyance painfully obvious. It was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for. I want to give credit where it is due: our actual server was wonderful and genuinely tried to make up for the situation. Unfortunately, one good server cannot undo the damage caused by poor management. Management sets the tone, and in this case, the manager turned what should have been a happy family dinner into an incredibly disappointing experience. We came here hoping to enjoy good food and spend quality time together as a family. Instead, we left with a bad experience that had nothing to do with the food and everything to do with how we were treated. We will not be returning. There are plenty of restaurants that serve good food, but what truly makes a place worth visiting is how it treats its customers. No family should have to beg for compassion or feel like an inconvenience for making a reasonable request. I sincerely hope management reflects on this experience because customers deserve more than just a meal. They deserve courtesy, respect, and basic human decency. Until that happens, I would encourage others to consider dining somewhere that understands what genuine hospitality actually means.

This place has been in my regular rotation since they opened and I have never had a bad meal here…read more The concept is a family style hot pot restaurant where you cook your own protein, vegetables or noodles in a flavored brother. You can pick between 1 and 4 different broths per pot. Each table has one cooking stove top, with the larger tables having two. The broths range from vegetarian to mild, to spicy to meat based. Everything is a la carte with the exception of some premade combinations bundling a variety of like items. There's various meat and veggie combos as well as a seafood combo. I always order the veggie combo which comes with a lot that's easily shareable between 4 people. It comes with various greens, mushrooms, cabbage, corn on the cob, cauliflower, and carrots. I don't eat red meat so I stick to their sliced chicken breast or the shrimp balls. My other favorite is the bean curd sticks which is a good meatless protein option. As for broths my two favorite are the Chinese Healthy Herb and the kimchi. I also like their salted crispy chicken appetizer (popcorn chicken). Steamed rice is also a must for me. They have a dipping sauce bar where you can make your own dipping sauce to accompany your hot pot. With the exception of the broth adding flavor, the meats and all the ingredients you add to your hot pot are unseasoned. It includes everything from soy sauce and fish sauce to garlic, fresh chilis, vinegar, and crushed peanuts. Whether you like to keep it simple, mild, or spicy there's a sauce you can create. The ambiance is pretty nice. It used to be a Chinese restaurant years ago and they did keep some of the things the same. They have 3 different TVs inside. The two larger ones on the walls each play a different Kdrama and the one above the register plays Kpop music videos. They do have one larger table that I think accommodates somewhere between 10-12 people (don't quote me on that) and another that can fit 6 or 7 people. Majority of the tables sit 4 and a couple sit 2. Depending what day and time you go, it can get pretty busy and you might have to wait a while. The staff is always friendly and helpful. At the end of the meal they give you orange slices and hard guava candy. Their orange slices are always so good too and a good palette cleanser at the end.

Years Later, J Pot Is Still Just as Amazing!…read more It's been several years since my last review of J Pot, and I recently decided to return. I'm happy to say that everything is still just as amazing as I remembered! A few weeks ago, I visited with my family, and just last week, I returned again with my friends. Both visits were wonderful! One thing I noticed is that they've added several new items to their hot pot menu, which is exciting because there's now even more variety to choose from! Despite these additions, the food still tastes just as delicious as I remembered. The sauce bar is still the same, and the quality has remained consistent throughout the years. The employees were fantastic during both visits, and the atmosphere was just as welcoming and familiar as before. I really appreciate restaurants that maintain their quality and customer service over time. Here's a great deal worth mentioning: When we ordered our individual hot pots, we were able to get their boba drinks for half off! That's a wonderful deal, especially when dining with family or friends. My only wish is that they would bring back their red bean sesame balls! Those were one of my absolute favorites from years ago, and I genuinely miss them. Overall, I'm glad I returned after all these years. With the new hot pot selections, delicious food, excellent service, and familiar atmosphere, J Pot continues to meet my expectations. Still a solid 5 stars from me!

Finally, Korean Fried Chicken Again! Huge Wings and Delicious Food!…read more I've been craving Korean fried chicken ever since Bonchon closed down, so I was excited to finally give bb.q Chicken in Clovis a try. I'm glad I did! I placed my order through the app, and one thing customers should know is that the food takes approximately 30 minutes to prepare. My family had already mentioned the wait, and I believe the app also provided an estimated preparation time. When I arrived, my order was ready for pickup! Here's my biggest tip: Start with the 8-piece wings! I was expecting wings similar in size to Wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings, but these were surprisingly HUGE! I honestly wasn't expecting them to be that big. Eight pieces can be plenty, especially if you're ordering sides. Unless you're feeding a larger family, you might not need 16 or 24 pieces. I definitely learned that firsthand! The chicken was absolutely delicious and exactly the kind of Korean fried chicken I've been missing. I love traditional bone-in wings, so that's always my preference over boneless chicken. We also ordered fries, and surprisingly, my mom loved them! She's pretty picky when it comes to food like this, so that says a lot. The seating area was decent, and the pickup process was convenient. Everything was ready when I arrived, and I had no issues with my order. Overall, I'm happy Clovis has a place where I can enjoy Korean fried chicken. The portions are generous, the food tastes great, and I'll definitely be returning whenever I'm craving crispy, flavorful bone-in wings! Overall experience: 5/5
