Word of advice: Stop packaging your takeout in those cardboard boxes because your food tastes like cardboard wax coating.

Sushi Maki/Canton Restaurant are one in the same. We came in for a quick bite and were so pleasantly surprised! It's set up as a quick order spot- you order at counter, sit at table with number, and receive your meal shortly thereafter. We received our food really quickly and we're pleasantly surprised as the quality in quantity of food was really satisfying. The crab ragoons were a nice size and tasted pretty good. They are large, lots of cream cheesy crab goodness, and fried to perfection. The wonton soup came in a large bowl, and the wontons were freshly homemade with distinct flavor and absolutely delicious. The broth was tasty. The menu did say cabbage but it's actually lettuce- still good. The best of all though was the spicy tuna nachos- omg that was good. We had to leave, as we're in a hurry but saw someone with a fried rice dish, that despite being overly full, still had me drooling . Will definitely be coming back !!!

Was feeling lazy so i got uber eats. Sushi was on my mind and this place had a low delivery fee so i went for it. I got the JB tempura roll with Krab Rangoon and Taro Boba Tea. Everything was delicious, i truly have 0 complaints. My driver delivered to my door successfully through Uber Eats and I had utensils and sauce on the side to dip. Next time I'll probably get the Volcano Roll and venture out to try a new Boba Tea flavor. I can't say I've dined in so I'm unsure on the service at the actual location but i will 100% be coming back

This review is not about the food but the treatment we received from Shane on Saturday 2/5/22 between 6:30 to 9:00 pm I came with my family late Saturday and while we were ordering through the QR menu, a waiter name Alejandro, came to our table to asked if we need anything and to offer that if we wanted to we could order with him instead. He told us he would come back with his pad to take our order. A few minutes past, a lovely and very polite young waitress came by an took our order and brought us water. We were minding our own business when a man name Shane came out to scold at us that if we wanted to get our order we should go inside an place it otherwise it was going to take a long time before someone would come out to take it and it would take even longer to receive our food. I don't know who this Shane is, the supervisor or manager or whatever but you don't ever speak that way to anybody!! I'm not even saying this as a obviously former customer of this business, but as a person, your ways of speaking to my family and me was rude, condescending and honestly just a big as****** After this, we were going to leave immediately but we were starving and it was late so instead we went inside to place our order to the same girl who took it before. She looked us in shock to see us inside. When we told her what has happened, she apologized, which she shouldn't have as it was not her behavior and lack of professionalism that has caused this whole incident. Sadly I could not found out what her name was, as when we went inside to pay, just to leave as fast as we could of this place, the receipt said our waiter was Alejandro, who could not even bother to even acknowledge our presence and I guessing the one who went inside to complain to his supervisor/manager that he was to busy to take an order, when he was the one who offered in the first place. I hope the tip we left, gets assigned to our actual waitress and not to him. My parents has been coming to this place for over 35 years! We even decided to keep coming here after Sushi Maki took over because we were assured they will keep the old menu, in fact, the old restaurant name is still on the left side of the business but sadly after this incident this business doesn't exist for us anymore.

Asked for a Shrimp Fried Rice

I ordered shrimp fried rice and was charged $11 for the rice an extra $3 for 3 cocktail shrimp. Be the judge.

The Classic Canton Steak we all grew up eating and also the manager Teddy. He's great and been there for many years.

I think the idea of paying at the front and then sitting and waiting for our food is genius. It's been a year since we visited Sushi Maki and definitely missed the Bacon Fried Rice. Oh so gooooooood! The manager is so nice. He brought us out our food and he made sure our meal was perfect! We were super impressed. Will be back!

We ended up here on NYE for a quickie bite before heading to Fairchild's Night Garden. The vibe is kitschy and fun and the menu hits the sweet spot for Japonophiles with a curated assortment of faves from takoyaki to tonkotsu and even onigiri. On this night we wanted to keep it light so we started with the Japanese pickles which were a vibrant and crisp mix of veggies. Then a miso soup with fried rolled tofu sheets and lots of fresh green onions. We can never pass up his and hers unagi nigiri, and these were perfection: warm, sweet, and buttery on the tongue. Then it was time for makimono. Sushi in Japan tends to be simpler with a focus on expertly cut fresh fish, but at Umaimon they depart from the classics to play to the American palate with ingredients like cream cheese and mango. Now these are not the most creative offerings you'll find in the 305, but they do offer solid choices done well. He had the Twin Dragon and I couldn't pass on the Sugar Daddy. Now, is this the best Japanese/sushi place you're going to find in Miami? Probably not. But is it the most kawaii? Quite possibly. If you too have fallen in love with Japan but can't afford another plane ticket, Umaimon comes in clutch delivering faves in an unassuming spot.

Gyu-Kaku is hands down one of our favorite restaurants. Anytime we find out we're in an area that has one, we always make it a priority to go. We've been eating here for about 14 years, and somehow it never gets old! If you've never been, it's a Japanese BBQ restaurant where you grill your own food right at your table, making it such a fun and interactive dining experience. One of the best parts? Their all-day Happy Hour on Sundays! You can choose between their all-you-can-eat menu with set pricing or order items individually. We always order à la carte because we love trying all our favorites. We started with the Fried Bacon Chips and Miso Wings, and baby... chef's kiss! For our sides, we ordered the Garlic Rice and Garlic Noodles. They are definitely shareable, and they prepare them for you. They are packed with flavor! For seafood, we went with the shrimp. Now for the meats... we ordered the New York Strip, Ribeye, Garlic Basil Chicken, and Teriyaki Chicken. Every single bite was worth it. Let's just say... I needed to be rolled out of there! And yes, I happily took leftovers home and enjoyed them again the next day. And if you enjoy a good cocktail with your meal, Gyu-Kaku definitely doesn't disappoint. Their drink menu has plenty of delicious options to pair with your BBQ. After 14 years of eating here, I can honestly say this place has never let us down. Great food, a fun atmosphere, and one of our favorite traditions whenever we're traveling. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Experience: 10/10 If you've never tried Gyu-Kaku, add it to your list. Just make sure you come hungry... very hungry!

I will say the sushi roll itself (while not necessarily small) was not all that large/filling, so I would recommend getting something else on the side. I liked that their roll and appetizers had a fun flavor and uniqueness that I haven't seen at other places. But I will say the prices are a little expensive but I guess average for Miami area. I was surprised to find single-use chopsticks over reusable ones. A small detail in an otherwise fairly nice restaurant that did kind of stick out to me. The vibe kind of felt like a mix of a slightly more upscale restaurant, but also kind of minimalist modern if that makes sense? Additionally, our service was a bit slow, with our waiter right over our shoulder asking if we were ready to place our order, no then not being around for the rest of the meal. Maybe it was just an off night though, and the food did come out fairly quickly. Overall I did enjoy my meal here, and I would probably come back eventually when I want something slightly more upscale. But on a day-to-day I would probably go Edward for my sushi fix. Not that the food was bad by any meals. I really enjoyed the fun and different flavor combinations, it's just a little pricy to go to everyday, and in my opinion the main portion sizes don't quite reflect that or have any particular flare to them aside from a colorful/flavorful sauce or topping in them. Recommend a try if you are nearby though to see for yourself.

They also were generous with the fish and avocado in the roll. I was pleasantly surprised to find 12 large pieces instead of the smaller 8 pieces like many other places in the area. Most of the exciting flavor is coming from the sauces, but again the quality of the fish is where this roll is supposed to shine. I also tried their seaweed salad.
