Ever since we lost our young beloved sushi restaurant Alex Oh sushi and rolls (may he rip in peace ) sushi jet has been the first Halifax sushi place to fill the hole left in my heart. Most people like wasabi house, but most people are stupid. Unlike wasabi house sushi jet actually trusts the quality of their rolls and doesn't just stuff tempura into all of them like monsters. Not good for the price. We ordered the all you can eat and you have to pay extra for the sashimi. They put more rice than fish in everything even in the maki and I believe they put salt in the water so you'll drink more and eat less. And the end of the night my friend vomited. I got the all-you-can-eat and my date ordered from the regular menu. I was sternly warned not to share food with the non-AYCE guest... they're probably watching on cameras! (there are a bunch of cameras on the ceiling...) The food starting coming pretty quickly. Not AAA grade sushi, it's alright, not fantastic. I did notice they forgot several items that I ordered from the AYCE menu. If you get AYCE, also ask for a regular menu because there is no explanation of the ingredients in each roll on the AYCE menu. Mizu in Dartmouth is waaaay better, just sayin. read more

My boyfriend and I came in here for lunch. It wasn't busy at all for a lunch so you would think that the staff would actually serve you. That was not the case. We ordered all you can eat. The food came out fairly fast so that was not the issue. None of the servers came to check up on us, not even once. The quality of the sushi was alright; nothing great but not awful. However, we never got 2 things we ordered and, like I mentioned earlier, none of the servers ever even checked. We finished what was given to us and we were pretty full. However, we had to wait 5-10 minutes for our bill. Actually, I had to go get up and ask for our bill because they kept walking past us seeing, clearly, that we were finished but didn't bother asking us if we wanted any desert or our bill. It's a bit ridiculous that I have to go up and ask for my bill when the server is literally standing there texting away. I've been to every single sushi place in the HRM. This by far has the worst service I have ever had. I will not be back and I don't advise others to come here. Really enjoyed this place. Tried it a few times so far, and no visit has disappointed us. Lunchtime on Sunday seems very popular, and they keep the sushi buffet coming. Food is fresh, and it is fairly quick, and the servers check in frequently. Price is good too! read more

So I went to this place and got a sushi combo for takeout. Then I went again for a bento box. The sushi was very fresh and everything tasted great. Then when I got the silver bento box ( It is supposed to be the smallest one!) I could not explain how happy I was with all the food. This place is great! Love the sushi here. It's not the best, but still very good. Service however, is hit and miss. Some days it's great, prompt, and friendly. Other times (like now) the server is nowhere to be found, there's only 6 of us here, and it took us 15 mins to be able to order. They should have heir servers train better, or pay more attention. read more

My experience was consistent with the preceding reviews. Did a weekend all-you-can-eat dinner for the first, and likely, last time. My special rolls had to be reordered constantly, as they kept not delivering. The rice isn't made with sushi vinegar, so it's bland. Many of the special rolls feature ingredients such as cream cheese, salmon skin and topped with salmon (raw), but are absent. The salmon belly and teriyaki is soggy and bland. I wasn't aware that salmon teriyaki was breaded here. The spicy sauce is more sweet and tangy. Service is rather absent and still expects a tip. I'd rather go to a full service, regular menu next time than to fill up on bland sushi. read more

Above average sushi buffet. A little pricey for lunch ($19 and change) but it is on spring garden road. Avoid the crunchy rolls as they put too much crunch. Everything else though is great. Sushi pizza, rolls etc. Salmon avocado rolls are the best thing on the menu. Always perfect! read more

Wow..... very disgusting..... it was a shock.... besides the salmon the rest of the sashimi wasn't good or fresh. The unagi fried rice..... i literally couldn't even find a small morsel or particle. The cooked foods were all worse than food court... i had to fill myself up with edamame beans and house salad and water since its all you can eat. read more

My friends and I come here regularly after or between classes and with the prices, how couldn't we? We're students so we can't afford much at school and the school sushi is $6-$10 for poor quality. If you come to Sushi Jet between 11-3 though you can get a roll for 2.99 or 3.99 depending on what you want. Great food even if the service is lacking but I find that common with all you can eat. Far better than the over rated Genji. Definitely my second favourite sushi restaurant overall. read more

Sushi rolls are mostly just made with cucumbers, rice and deep fryer leftovers...if you didn't eat the end of the sushi which is just rice, they would question you every time... will never go there again. read more

This restaurant has decent sushi, however the low rating is due to the poor service I received while dining. My boyfriend and I came in for the all you can eat sushi dinner, immediately upon being seated it took the server around 15 minutes to greet us with our order. The food came out quickly however we never received any wasabi or ginger alongside the sushi, and we had to ask the server to bring us some soy sauce. After around 10 minutes of eating a server approached us saying that it was last call and that we could order the last of our meal then. The all you can eat menu has a 2-hour time limit so we were rather shocked to hear that it was last call, especially when we arrived at 8pm with plenty of time before they closed (at 10pm). However another party came in 30 minutes later and were able to order several rounds of food despite the "last call" that we were informed of. We were dining for over two hours not because we were eating lots, but because the waitresses were plain and simple ignoring us throughout the night, our waters were replenished only once, and when we were obviously ready to leave they did come for around 30 minutes to take away our dishes and give us the receipt. Alongside the terrible service the sushi was sub-par, the rolls were thin with very crumbly rice - it fell out as we picked the rolls up. We also ordered one of our personal favourites (grilled/seared salmon belly) however when we received the order the fish was deep fried and dripping in oil - basically the opposite of what we ordered. The waitress informed us that the chef didn't know how to make properly as it was their first time which is somewhat understandable. It was a pretty mediocre meal. Overall, sushi in Halifax is extremely expensive for the quality you receive, so the all you can eat dinner is a pretty good deal. They make you pay extra for sashimi and certain kinds of nigiri which is kind of annoying so I didn't have any, but you can try a lot of different things for the same price as 6 pieces of sashimi and maybe 2 rolls. Stay away from the Wonderful Roll. It is absolutely vile, and tastes like stomach acid. The all you can eat menu had no item descriptions on it so I just went of the name when ordering it, and I can tell you it is extremely far from Wonderful. There was a weird acidic citrusy taste to it. I had to shove it down my throat and chug my water so I wouldn't get charged extra. Everything that came from the kitchen seemed to be microwaved and did not taste fresh. I had the sweet and sour chicken and it was piping hot in the center and ice cold on the edges. The gyoza was pretty standard, I'm not sure how you can mess that up anyways. Don't come here expecting great things if you're used to the sushi in Vancouver or Toronto. You likely won't find the same quality in Halifax if I'm being entirely honest. Service was pretty good, the food arrived quickly, the place was clean, and everyone seemed friendly enough. Nothing really seemed all that fresh to be honest, but considering the price and my lack of standards, I'll be back. read more
