The food delivery system was un, and the food was SO good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The staff are very very kind and sweet. But I will say. Awful food, not fresh at all. Would definitely recommend Sun Sushi on Kenmount instead. But the robots are definitely super cool, and we could have caught them on an off day, I suppose. read more

Good sized rolls. Fast service. Your food is delivered on little server robots. It was a good lunch. read more

The service was crazy fast. Very fresh and the robot is fun! Glad we found it. You can also sit outside.

We were literally served by a robot. The food is decent quality and value and comparable to a typical casual Vancouver sushi restaurant (I'm from Vancouver). The decor is alright: casual, clean, spacious but lacking in character. The robot service was fast and food arrived quickly during the lunch hour. This might be your place if you are an extreme introvert. Otherwise, you may feel 'processed' by the impersonal service. Lots of reviews mention All You Can Eat or Buffet, neither of which seem to be on offer any longer. read more

Great food, amazing service, and an awesome experience. You order you food on a tablet on the table, and then a robot with a cat face comes and delivers it straight to you, I had my meal within about five minutes. 11/10 would recommend read more

I go here a lot for their buffet. I find their lunch buffet is more worth your time for the fact it still comes with dessert and everything I would get anyway comes on that menu. From what I'm aware even sashimi is on that menu. I got the yam tempura roll and mango roll when I'm having the buffet and the volcano roll is absolutely delicious if you are just ordering from the menu. The dinner buffet in my opinion isn't worth your money compared to the value you get from going with the lunch time buffet. $20-$22 for lunch and roughly $30 for dinner buffet. That's without tax in tip. Usually I end up paying $30 for lunch and $40 for supper with everything included. Weekends are more expensive, a dollar or two added on to the buffet. If you want to try anything out non buffet, try ordering on skip the dishes for pickup and then use it with a coupon for some money off. read more

Very good food and very good service for a very good price! It's my third time and it never disappoints. Best sushi in St. John's!! read more

Sushi Island NL! My go to NL all you can eat sushi bar! Definitely try the Sapporo! There are many options here, so try them all! Portion sizes are quite big so order what you can eat or you'll have to pay for the leftovers. That's the only buffet rule. I'm having chicken fried rice, teriyaki chicken, salmon, beef, beef ribs, red dragon roll, spicy salmon-tuna roll, crab, mackerel, red snapper, salmon, and white tuna sashimi! Topped off with a Sapporo beer and your golden! I love this place! Make sure to stop by. read more

New AYCE sushi place on Water street. It's good to see more sushi options in St John's. Pricing is decent at $16.99 for lunch and $26.99 for dinner. However.....they claim for uneaten pieces they will charge you $1.50 per piece. I often get a small laugh at the penalty fee. It's a good way of scaring those who go cuckoo bananas ordering and then wasting so much food. Wasting food is for losers. There are many hungry people in the world who cannot enjoy food such as AYCE sushi. Don't be a waster! Starting out I ordered a variety of sashimi which the server mentioned "did you know this is raw"? My reply was "yes, thank you, but of course"! Sashimi is cut very thin as expected. Freshness and taste was clean and texture was as expected. What you want from good sashimi. Then as moved to order some tempura vegetables and tempura shrimp. The tempura was good. Not too salty and crispy and light. The shrimp was extremely battered. Like 2X-3X the normal batter. I'm thinking this is a clever fill you up technique. What was disappointing was the tempura dipping sauce. Very little to no flavour. The I ordered some rolls: deep fried California, Dynamite and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna didn't look like tuna? Overall the rolls were above average but not amazing. Definitely better than many All you can eat places. Freshness was adequate and good. Overall a strong 3.75/4 people serving were friendly so I'll bump it to a 4. My hope is is place does well and doesn't raise their prices. This can be long term suicide for a restaurant. I'll look forward to returning. read more

Good value for the price. Service is hit and miss but I presume this is due to the restaurant just opening. Also at times there are certain menu items not available so may be worth asking what fish types are available that day before sitting down. Good to see all you can eat sushi in St. John's. Been a long time coming. They also don't take credit card for some reason so that's a slight annoyance. read more

Decent sushi, and friendly service. I would dine here again. Kids would get great entertainment out of the robotic server.

update: excellent service -- I was once in a rush due to a very short dinner break so I ordered ahead of time. When I arrived, the food was already on the table waiting for me along with the cheque. The soup was hot, and the fish was cold. The timing was perfect, and the food was delicious as usual. This has been my go-to sushi place ever since. read more

I've only had delivery from here but it's been delicious every time. Their California rolls are easily the best in town.

This place is great. I was in town for a few days and heard about it from a friend. The sushi was fresh and the service was very good. Also, they have a great all you can eat sushi deal that last from 3 until closing. I highly recommend this for any sushi lover. They also have many cooked food options as part as of their sushi deal. read more

$16.99 plus tax for AYCE lunch. They only accept cash and debit. AYCE places in other cities have taken credit card but offered a discount for cash - not wanting to deal with credit cards seems a theme in my experiences. I was visiting the area and this place was suggested by a coworker. We went for lunch there 2 days in a row. Service was quick and helpful. I have visited AYCE places in other cities and never has the service been so quick. The dumplings and fried appetizers were great. The sushi rolls were well made. In fact, the thick slices of salmon and tuna in the rolls were more ample than I have had in other areas. For the rolls with tempura, they were warm when they arrived (due to the tempura being cooked). I haven't experienced this at other places - but this is just an observation, not a problem. I am guessing the tempura may be precooked elsewhere. The only item I ordered that I was not a huge fan of was the teriyaki chicken. It lacked flavour in my opinion. I will be back to this place in future! read more

Sushi Island (imo) has gone down hill in quality since opening. The price is reasonable for an all you can eat, if that's what you're after. The sashimi can be hit or miss in terms of freshness and temperature (came out frozen once). It's a pretty relaxed atmosphere, but the service is generally pretty good. I've been here for lunch quite a few times but lately, as mentioned above, the quality has gone down hill. read more

This was my first time going to this restaurant and it was really great. The service was quick and the food was really good as well. They even give you a courtesy dish (miso soup) while you wait for your food. I'm definitely coming back! read more

It was fine. Most of the rolls in the buffet are boring, and there really aren't a lot of options. The tempura was underdone, and skip the ice cream (the mango had a weird, sickly-sweet flavor). Also, they don't take Visa (or most debit) cards. Unsure why it's rated higher than Sun Sushi, it was definitely the lesser of the two. read more

The best sushi I've had on the island. They almost always have no wait. They bring your miso soup within 60 seconds, I am not kidding. The fish painted on the walls are pretty, but the overall ambience is simple and casual, it's a nice place to enjoy. The prices are a steal, especially for the quality. The staff are some of the friendliest restaurant staff I've ever met. The food is fresh, and full of flavour. They have a ton of variety including options beyond sushi. Overall one of my favorite restaurants on the island. read more

This place is decent and pretty good value for what you pay for. My friend had the sashimi meal set while I had the roll meal set, it was $13.95 and $12.95 respectively. The meal sets both came with salad and miso soup. I think the salad was drenched in too much sauce and the miso soup tasted fine. Their salmon is pretty delicious here and I could taste it in the rolls and the sashimi that I tried from my friend's dish. The tuna wasn't that great, it was pretty tasteless and too cold. read more

I fly into St John's often on my lay overs I always eat at Sushi Island. The $17.99 all you can eat is amazing. Everything I had was fresh and yummy. If your tired of pub food that tends to be heavy and greasy try Sushi Island. I really enjoyed it and the prices are very good. read more

10/10 recommend this place. The service was excellent and really fast, the food was delicious and you get so much for your money!

We thoroughly enjoyed Sushi Island! My wife is Celiac and allergic to Dairy, and they were super accommodating to her many allergies! The service was phenomenal! The staff was friendly, the food came fast and it was all delicious! Would definitely recommend the all you can eat option. read more

This was my second time going to sushi island and was way better than the first. They just got gluten free soya sauce, so nice not to have to bring mine in my purse. We always order off the menu, all you can eat is always more than what we would actually order. The sushi was delicious and fresh and the service was fast and they were very responsive. We ordered tuna maki, salmon maki, salmon avocado maki, tuna sushi, chicken teriyaki roll and beef udon noodles. read more

I have been going here since the restaurant opened. I go at least monthly and there were times where I went weekly. This is the best sushi in the province. I have eaten at all the sushi places on the island and I have eaten sushi in various places across Canada and Europe and aside from the wicked place in Regina... I think Sushi Island has the best sushi. The AYCE is GREAT but I often go for the lunch special: choice of any two rolls for $9.95. I always get the spicy crab and the salmon avocado roll with spicy mayo on top. They serve this with salad that has carrot ginger dressing and miso soup. I really love sashimi but you can only get that on the regular menu and on the AYCE in the evening (more expensive in the evening). In the many, many times I have been here...I have never had an issue with the food or the service. The staff is great, the sushi comes out very fast, and the food is so, so fresh. The portion size of the fish you get is way more than any other sushi place on the island. Go here. You won't be disappointed. I have told so many people about this place and all the reviews are the same- they say they will never go anywhere else. read more

This is my favourite sushi restaurant in town. Friendly and fast service, and the food is always amazing! We go regularly, at least a couple times a month. We just returned from a trip to Vancouver, where we were told that the sushi is cheaper and better than anywhere you'd get in the country. I have to say that while it was tasty, Sushi Island is at the same level cost wise, and in my opinion the rolls are tastier! My favourites include Black Dragon Roll, Yam Tempura Roll, Yummy Yummy Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. Also the Yakitori and the Avocado salad are delicious! read more

Food is good but poorly managed restaurant. Skip the Dishes orders are prioritizied to the detriment of dine-in customers. Our most recent visit took two full hours to receive our entire order (and we had an infant with us). Credit cards are not accepted - cash or debit only. read more

First time at Sushi Island.... Not a bad experience at all. we ordered a number of different rolls for the table rather than have the buffet. So glad they have this option as others only have buffet OR menu. Everyone at the table were very pleased with the sushi and we all left full to the brim. The service was excellent and the young staff were extremely polite and helpful when explaining the menu. The food came out extremely fast and was delicious. Thanks for a great experience, we will be back. read more

Lovely time here today. Had the lunch all you can eat buffet which was very worth it! Reasonable pricing for some quality sushi and other tasty appetizer type dishes. Service was good as well. read more

Favourite sushi in town. High calibre for an all-you-can-eat menu. Sashimi cuts and rolls are well sized. Never disappointed.

Sushi Island is probably one of the nicest readily accessible sushi restaurants in the city. Their food and drinks are all reasonably priced and have generally good quality. I am as well very happy with the freshness of the fish they use and the diversity in sushi types. I have ordered from take-out and in-restaurant here and have found both experiences to be very good. I am quite pleased with this restaurant and would go more often if it weren't for the terrible parking in downtown St. John's, but that isn't on their end of course. read more
