I decided to come here with the family on Boxing Day when alot of other restaurants were closed. There was a big menu, and they offered a large variety of dishes (Currys, ramen, tempura, sushi, etc). I ordered the Assorted Sushi Dinner ($18) which came with 6 Maki rolls, 6 Nigiri rolls, a small Miso soup, and supposedly a salad. I didn't get a salad, and at the time I forgot about it, but looking back on it now, I'm quite disappointed that I was never given one. I realized after price matching with the other sushi places downtown, that my meal was quite expensive, and it was due to the missing salad :( some of the maki rolls had a nice crunch to them (I'm guessing pine nuts) but other than that, it was a pretty standard mix of rolls. I think the mix of slow serving time, pretty mediocre rolls (from what I ordered) and the missing salad spoiled my experience of the place. I'd recommend having more reasonably priced dinner assortments of sushi. Also, I often see sushi at other places presented on a nice plate to make a good first impression, and the plates were pretty bland. I'd probably give a higher rating if I went again at a less busy time, but I'll stand with what I gave.

I think it is great for a fusion Taiwanese/Japanese shop, but it isn't authentic Japanese at all…read more If you're looking for Japanese food, this isn't the place. They need to bring in more authentic foods such as bento side dishes, and bring in onigiri (cheap triangle rice balls) and offer some more options to be more Japanese in style. The BBT (Bubble Tea) is okay, but I've had better in Toronto and Vancouver. If you don't mind the fusion, then come try the place out, especially if you've never been outside Newfoundland. If you had been to bigger cities, and been to their Chinatown and had Japanese food and BBT there, you may like it, but it is subjective. I find the prices overpriced, and can't justify the price for the taste. I'm a student in the area and don't have $10 to spend on one meal, I made a suggestion to start selling onigiri which is cheap, and easy to make. On the mainland, they cost $1.65, so they could easily price them at $3 here and I as a cheap student can afford to come over and buy some. Tuna/Mayo onigiri is the best, and cheap to make! But they haven't added it to their menu. Also, I wanted to buy some of their bowls, and chopsticks, but when I saw they are from Daiso (100yen or around $1 depending on exchange rates) I couldn't justify spending what they're asking for there. Going to wait when I can go to Daiso back in Vancouver and pay the $2.50. This is why if you've been outside St John's like me (Been to Japan and Taiwan), you cannot justify the massive price increases which is understandable for shipping.
