All I can say is wow This is literally my favorite place to eat in Moraga Moving here from Berkeley I was convinced that the sushi would be sub par, as it was not in the city. Boy was I wrong. I was attracted to sushi fighter for the prices but the quality keeps me coming back. The fish is fresh, never fishy. The rolls never have too much rice. And the specialty rolls are expertly curated. Everything is expertly created for the customer and I am never disappointed. If eating here I highly recommend checking out the bento boxes or the sushi combos for a great deal. or if you want something nice, the white out roll and tempura shiso apetizer are super on point. read more

So so delicious. While at the restaurant the phone rang almost the whole time with take-out orders. It did take quite a while to get the food but totally worth the wait. I haven't been back to eat at the restaurant since but the food to-go is just as good. If I were to eat there again I would plan to be there 1-1.5 hours depending on what time of day/time I go. Dinner time was poppin. Cost was reasonable for sushi. read more

Cute little place with decent food. But clearly overwhelmed staff that ran around discombobulated. Business is busy but with systems in place it could run smoother. Some guests got food on time while other waited 30 minutes. My husbands roll came out as we were waiting for the check basically. read more

It's conveniently located to the theater and the only Japanese place in town thus the crowd. Stopped by few times for dinner. We ordered rolls (rainbow , mango) and the saki combo the first time we went and it was bland but not bad. We went back again and this time we ordered the sushi sashimi combo and the sushi combo...what a big disappointment...there was absolutely no variety - it was mostly white fish, no salmon or tobiko, or the usual variety of fish that comes with a combo...they basically gave us all cheap white fish and tuna. We were surprised especially with that price point we were expecting more variety in the combo dishes. We won't be going back. If you are itching for sushi in Moraga, order the rolls instead don't waste your money on the combos. read more

Used to be awesome when they first opened and for some time thereafter, but the service, prices, and cleanliness are getting worse. I used to go several times a month for great fish and occasionally for happy hour specials. I stopped going here because I kept getting sick after eating here - every time. Then I looked at the Health Score and can clearly see why I'm getting sick. Until they can follow basic health standards, I will not return even though my kids are asking to go. https://www.yelp.com/inspections/sushi-fighter-moraga read more

It is absurd to believe you can have good fish in the suburbs. It is insane to believe you can have o-toro or any belly that rivals that which comes straight from the markets to the big city parade. And to consider sushi artistry to be even understood by a small restaurant in a tiny town in the middle of an old forgotten cattle ranch would be ridiculous. However, if you are nodding your head in agreement, and feel I have accurately portrayed sushi in the burbs...then you have not been here. You have not seen the fight that is brought to this challenge. I'm ok with this. Shorter lines for me. read more

Great sushi, so they won't miss our business. Be prepared to wait in their lobby an additional 15-20 minutes AFTER the time your pickup order is supposed to be ready before they give you the order, and be prepared to be ignored the entire time you wait because other people will be waiting, too. Know you will have to get back in line to ask about your order at least once, and you'll be told "one more minute" about 15 times. Thought this was a fluke but it's happened the last 3 times we ordered, at varying times of day. In other words, don't order pickup if you are actually hungry. The sushi is good, but hardly worth the wait. read more

I came here with a couple of friends for a late dinner. We ordered 3 rolls - the crunchy roll (I think, could have also been the XXX), the updated rainbow (I think), and the lion king roll. First of all, I adore the plating here - its very aesthetically pleasing. Also, if you order sashimi, it comes in a tall glass. Dinner comes with miso soup, so even though its listed on the menu for $3, don't worry about it. Updated rainbow roll was really good! A lot of flavors going on but they all work well together. I liked that when the plate came out, one of the rolls had a glowing ice cube hidden under some garnish to make it look like a volcano. Really fun idea there. I would definitely come back here again when craving sushi while in the area. Very impressed, Moraga, did not expect at all. read more

Sushi Fighter - Very delicious - Sushi Bars Near Me - Moraga, California

Found this place on Yelp while looking for a sushi place to try out one evening with my boyfriend. Restaurant is relatively close, so we decided to venture out! PARKING: Located in a plaza right next to a movie theatre, so there were plenty of parking spaces. We arrived for a late evening dinner. There are several other eateries in the area, so parking may be a challenge during the "rush hour". DINING IN: There are a few big tables for larger parties and also booth seating. Some smaller tables to seat 2/4 people in the center. They also have seating at the bar if you prefer that. FOOD: A mix of Japanese rice dishes (donburis and bento boxes) as well as sushi/sashimi and roll offerings. You can either choose to order a la carte or take part in the AYCE sushi! (AYCE looks like it only included rolls from the look at their menu). I ordered the salmon teriyaki & mixed tempura bento box and was pleasantly surprised! There was a huge portion of salmon and so many piece of tempura! I thoroughly enjoyed the meal (and it also came with miso soup). My boyfriend ordered the chirashi bowl and there were plenty of fresh pieces of fish! He was also full by the time we finished our meal. Hot tea is free! TAKEOUT: Several people came in to pick up their takeout order while we were dining in. Must be a popular option! read more

Spicy tuna is almost always a sure fire at any place, but here was a miss being not spicy nor fresh. Spicy chicken was similarly bland, overcooked, and reminded me of those bad homemade leftovers you really don't want to eat but feel guilty tossing as you don't want to waste potable nutrients. Miso soup was great, tempura 4/5 stars but bland. Tapatio yellowtail roll wasn't spicy, fresh, and didn't certainly taste like yellowtail. It was edible during the pandemic, so there's that. But this is the sad new minimum bar we have now. Too bad, had hope from the positive Yelp reviews, but man, won't be back. read more

The driest chicken teriyaki I've ever had. I told them twice that their chicken was way overcooked and incredibly dry. I asked for extra wasabi and even pre-tipped online but got less wasabi than the normal amount. Staff at pickup are distracted and rude. Dirty pens no clean ones. This place is a joke!!! They offer all you can eat for a set price but not really. We called today to specifically ask if they still offer all you can eat. Our choice was between two restaurants that offer it but both a far distance from one another. We were told yes they offer all you can eat. We show up 30 minutes later and the waitress who sat us threw full priced menus on the table and walked away without a word. When she passed I excused myself and advised her for all you can eat menus. She snapped back We do not offer all you can eat". I advised her I had just called. She stomped off to the front and inquired only to return to tell me You want all you can eat you wait long time because we very busy. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN! I'll never spend another dime in this dump. The wait is always long. Service is slow and surprisingly for a Japanese the service is absolute crap. You have lost a customer for good. It is appalling how we were spoken to and treated in your establishment tonight. I have speculated for quite sometime that the all you can eat menu is a gimmick to get people in the door but not really a desired service because of the super slow service when it is ordered. The fact that you are already slow and low in your service and to so rudely and clearly express such blatant discrimination based on our desire to order it is just wrong! As a business professional if you're not going to offer the same level of service based on your profit margin then maybe you should NOT EVEN OFFER THE SERVICE!!! Perhaps you should take a look at your 1 star reviews: Poor service Slow Rude Poor service Rude Inedible food Your older Japanese waitress really needs to take some lessons in how to treat paying customers with respect. We were craving sushi and knowing this place had a good rating but wasn't a big place, we called ahead as we had a group of 8 hoping to get a reservation. They said they had a table now and if we could get there soon they'd save it for us. We said, "Deal!" as we were visiting the area and only 10 mins away so that worked out to be too good to be true. We arrived to find out they gave our table away and the hostess/waitress was dismissive basically saying sorry, there's no room. Too bad I couldn't get by the terrible service to try the food. Seems like a theme with the place based on some other reviews. read more

If the sushi wasn't decent, i would probably give this a 1 star. Service isn't great at all, they serve food in portions, meaning that they serve one roll to you, then another, then another. Or at least that's how it's been with our experience here. Unfortunately this isn't the first time that this has happened, as I have tried this multiple times with the same result. The food is pretty good, however In the 5 times that we've been here the menu has changed at least 3 times. Nonetheless, decent sushi. We ordered a Mango Paradise, upgraded rainbow, and a Lion king. ***warning: the lion king comes with a 25 (and counting) minute wait. Honestly this place has the potential to be a decent sushi stop. Unfortunately, their service is just too bad to recommend. If you're looking for decent sushi with no hassle, I'd recommend calling ahead or using DoorDash. Way worth the delivery if it means it'd be faster. Picture is 30 minutes into the meal and still waiting for third plate. (We usually wait til all food is served to eat) read more

Worst place ever, horrible customer service. I only gave this review one star because I had to. Me and family walk in and the server/host literally nods at my husband like if he's not a host and after telling him how many people we were he points at the dirtiest table and after we sit and because the table is too tight we ask if we are able to sit at a larger table the same host/waiter gets upsets and ROLLS his eyes and points at a bigger table and says "I GUESS". Of course we automatically get up and leave and he raises his hands like he wasn't so disrespectful causing a scene. So emberassing, to be specific this'd the tall Asian guy with glasses and mid long black hair. Super disrespectful, never coming back! What's joke! read more

I don't usually judge a book by it's cover.. but I should've stayed away from a place that calls themselves sushi fighter. My first experience here; the server was rude and matter of fact. So I'm the only person in this place, I sit down and as soon as I get the menu from someone, they say "we are closing soon, so you know." I told them it was only 8:30 and it says they close at 9:30. He responds with "well sometimes it's slow so, we close down early". Im a little irked and I say ok, and ask what they have to drink, he quickly goes through the choices and I didn't catch the choices so I ask him to repeat. He was visibly annoyed and so I just ask for a Diet Coke and he walks away. I'm done looking through the menu and I'm waiting for the staff to come back to ask for my order. No one comes, as I stare at the waiter who is now watching TV with other staff. I'm pretty upset that he was rushing me to order but he's standing there in front of the TV watching it. All around me are staff cleaning and it smells like cleaning solution. So I wait and finally say "excuse me I'm ready " and he looks my way and comes to the table and asks me to order. Not impressed at all. I see that my roll is ready, and I know it's my roll because I'm the only one there. It sits for a while on the counter, the sushi chef sees that I'm staring at the food while the waiter is staring at the TV. I'm pretty pissed. The food finally comes after the chef tells the waiter that I'm sitting there watching him. The food, which was not memorable at all - doesn't seem to fit the reviews. It's pretty average and I feel that I could get the same caliber at Safeway's sushi section. Yup... ouch. Overall, the staff was pretty rude. The food was forgettable and the ambiance was terrible. I suppose the name matches overall, since you have to fight the staff and the time to get any sushi or service. Nice, guys... read more

The sashimi from this place destroys. Super fresh, service is really great. My go to for sushi takeout

I am not an avid sushi eater but this place definitely was delicious! A little pricey for me to just go to for lunch but I would recommend this place for a nice dinner with friends. They decorate their plates very elegantly with the sushi! As a vegetarian, I found it easy to order off their menu and still eat something that was just as filling as my friends. You can also order for takeout but be sure to call ahead because the wait for the food can take some time. Some of the servers are students at Saint Mary's College and for the most part are very polite and attentive but when they are busy it can be a bit rushed. Still, recommend for a good lunch or dinner! read more

Just say "NO". Went there and had rolls, tempura, tonkatsu. All of it was subpar. The shrimp tempura was gummy and gross, the vegetable tempura wasn't much better. The rolls were sad. The tonkatsu was tasteless and undercooked. I don't understand the good reviews at all. Even the miso soup tasted bad, you've got to work hard to make miso soup bad. read more

Excellent food, always in good condition. Expect to wait a few minutes when you pick up an order because they are understaffed.

The food is good, prices are reasonable and the place looks decent but not fully clean. The service it self is very slow, I came with a friend and a family of 4 was seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes. Once order it took about 25 minutes for the food to arrive although there was only 6 people in the restaurant. To end, the server added the tip herself and personally, I don't think that is right. read more

First things first and #1 pro: yes, they have AYCE. Second things second and #1 con: no, nigiri is NOT AYCE. How sad! This sushi place is located near a cute like movie theater. Dinner and a movie, maybe? Parking is limited, you gotta get lucky or you gotta walk. Their business hours are odd; they close in the middle of the day to separate lunch and dinner, no complaints there though, makes sense. So if you come at 4:30pm for dinner, you'll be the first one there! I may be spoiled by the AMAZING AYCE sushi places where I'm from, but I need nigiri on my AYCE menu. A girl can only eat so many rolls, I'd like to get my money's worth on multiple orders of $5 super white tuna nigiri. So imagine how disappointed and distraught I was when I found out (1) there's a whole other menu for AYCE and (2) nigiri is NOT on that AYCE menu. So eat $24.99 worth in rolls & don't waste rice because they will charge. My boyfriend and I ordered about 5 rolls between the both of us and by the 5th roll, they all seemed to blend together. The deep fried rolls all tasted the same; I was overwhelmed by the batter. The only two rolls that I really liked were the (1) Bay Island (cucumber, avocado, imitation crab, and super white tuna on top -- yes, I got my super white tuna... too bad it was baked with the rest of the roll... no nigiri for me) and (2) the 49er (imitation crab, avocado, salmon and lemon slices -- how can anyone mess up a classic roll like this, though!) We order at least two rolls that had so many spicy ingredients (one roll had crumbles of Hot Cheetos on it!) and yet, none of them had any sort of kick to it. Maybe we just have a high tolerance for spicy... but it was disappointing. Long story short: I wasn't pleased. A limited AYCE menu with ONLY rolls. Nigiri only a la carte. The deep fried rolls all tasted the same. Spicy isn't really spicy. BUT, they give you miso soup free of charge... A good AYCE place seems to be hit or miss in The Bay, so if anyone has suggestions for someone who loves super white tune nigiri, let her know! read more
