This was my first visit here and the variety of sushi rolls offered is staggering, but in a good way! The servers here are very attentive and helped me with my roll selection. I ultimately went with the Scooby Doo roll, but was giving the OMG roll the side eye up until the last moment. We also ordered veggie egg rolls and the veggie tempura. The Scooby Doo roll was huge and is basically a CA roll that's filled with deep fried crab, eel, and topped with more crab, unagi sauce, and orange sauce. This roll had amazing flavor and was very filling. I don't think the egg rolls were hand made, but still very good. Tempura veggies are hit just right when paired with sushi. I was here for lunch and the vibe here was laid back and very welcoming. It was slow when we arrived, but picked up and got very busy as we ate. I could see this place being slammed for dinner and on the weekends. They do take reservations, but by phone only; so plan accordingly. read more

This place can get pretty busy, and while the sushi portions are decent, some rolls can feel a bit pricey depending on what you order. The quality of the fish is good, and the baked mussels are especially delicious. There's a wide variety of cooked and raw sushi rolls to choose from. One thing I'd suggest is less rice on the rolls--the rice can sometimes outweigh the fish. They're also a bit limited in fish variety, which I assume is due to availability here in the Central Valley compared to the Bay Area. The staff is definitely busy, but they hustle as best they can to take care of every table. I'll need a few more visits to give a full verdict, but it's worth coming back for another try. read more

My partner and I went to try this restaurant after a really long day and we were very hungry. We went in a couple minutes after it opened and it was already very busy. So we tried to be understanding when it took a while for the waiters to get our order. However, we saw that several groups that came in after us were getting served their food before us. They hadn't even taken our order yet but the people that came before us were getting their food. I had to ask if they can take our order for someone to stop and write down our order. Would've loved more seaweed salad in it. My son wanted nigiri so got him the octopus and ono (butterfish). He liked both but some parts of the octopus ends was rubbery to him. My family, friends, and I are all regulars at Sushi Day. They have attentive waiters, and have operated for a very long time with the same delicious menu, nice decor, and friendly staff. We usually order the OMG Roll, which is stacked with extra toppings and just absolutely delicious. Other than that roll, we love the Rainbow Roll and the Baked Hamachi. The Rainbow has delicious fresh fish and avocado and a variety of fish while the Baked Hamachi is closer to a sushi bake with delicious cooked meat on top of the roll. The miso soup was fine and my lunch special sashimi plate was generously sized with a lot of decoration on the plate. My only complaint is that perhaps it was cut a bit too thick. I live in LA but every time we're visiting family here in Fresno this is a must visit.. their bento boxes and sushi is a reminder of the delicious food of Japan. Date night in Fresno! If you ever come out here, check out Sushi Day. Amazing ambiance, great service, and super fresh sushi. I had Ono for the first time, which is butterfish and might even be better than Toro. SO buttery and soft. Plus, they serve the sushi with fresh wasabi, not paste, and it just took the sushi to another level. Our server, Julianna was a student at Fresno State and from the Bay like us, and let me tell you, she was IT. Such an amazing personality and definitely made our experience even better. She laughed and joked with us, she recommended things and knew the menu really well, and she just made it feel like she was our friend that we had known for years. I literally wanted to hang out with her after we left, LOL! She was amazing! There was another waitress working there who also had such a fun personality... kind of had a punk style and her playlist was playing and it was taking me back to high school and we just had so much fun interacting with the staff, especially the 2 girls. A friend of mine introduced me to this place last year and I have been coming here ever since. The service is great. They are really relaxed and chill there and the drinks are good, the rolls are good. I mean everything was cooked well and had lots of flavor and it was just delicious. Such a hidden gem that I am glad I found out about. The second time I came with brought our little and he thought he as going to get something to draw on and she totally just whipped up a little book for him and a pen to draw and play, that was not her job to do, so above and beyond and I was super grateful. Generously giving a 1 star rating for the APPALLING DINING EXPERIENCE my family and I had there on Saturday night. My husband and adult son ordered their favorite sushi and I ordered a salmon plate that came with 3 sides (miso soup, salad, and rice). We also ordered hot green tea, spicy edamame, cucumber salad, and tempura combo). The place was a full house over 75 diners, 3 servers, and 2 chefs manning the Sushi counter. I'm going to assume there was one cook in the back because we were at the restaurant for 2.5 hours as I had to wait an hour for my salmon plate sans the soup. I had to remind our waitress about the soup which is normally served before/with the entrée. Our green tea was old and cold and when we asked for a fresh cup, we got it in the same cup that had bern microwaved. I know because I'm an avid tea drinker! After a 30 minute wait our tempura arrived stone cold! Our waitress was so busy helping the other waitresses that I literally got up from my table and took the cold plate over to the Sushi counter to request a replacement. The owner brought the same tempura batch that had been refried which we knew because one of the vegetables had been half-eaten! Needless to say the refried batch was inedible because it was too oily. In fact a couple at the table next to us had complained their tempura plate was cold as well. They opted not to get a replacement after hearing about how we got ours. We were literally disgusted that we cancelled our edamame order which had not been made yet. A different waitress brought over the Sushi plates. She had no idea which Sushi she was bringing to our table and attempted to gaslight my Son about his "usual" order. He had eaten one slice to notice immediately that it had Wasabi which he's allergic to. She kept telling him that's how the chef makes this Sushi although their menu description does not indicate this ingredient in his order. We had to wait for our waitress to get a replacement. That same waitress also gaslit my husband about his Sushi order. She mentioned a different Sushi plate which my husband replied that was not his order. She took the plate back to the Sushi counter and then came back with it again and said it was what he ordered. By this time he was pretty fed up with her disorganization that he just took "whatever" she gave him. The cashier came over and told us that there would be an additional charge for the Sushi my son could not eat (Wasabi). I asked if she was the manager and she turned her back and proceeded to walk away. As she walked away I asked again which she turned her head back and yelled "NO!!" at me and kept walking away. Of course EVERY diner heard her outburst at me which made me cringe with shock and dismay. I've never been yelled at by a restaurant staff in my 60 years of dining! We left the restaurant disgusted and upset because our waitress cried when she offered to "take care of the additional charge". At that point we knew the owner probably was going to deduct it from her wage. We politely refused her offer and paid her tip because this whole fiasco was not her fault; it was the management! Still the best sushi restaurant in Fresno. It's definitely our favorite. We had the small boat a few weeks ago. It was exactly what we were craving. The sushi chef created a beautiful boat for us. They have many tables and sushi bar seating. We like to sit at the bar whenever possible. There are quite a few rolls to choose from. The Fresno Mango, green dragon, titanic, cherry blossom, blonde bombshell, are all repeat favorites for us. read more

The sushi is pretty good. My friends and I had the nigiri set, and the plating is pretty for the combos. The nigiri had a diverse array, and of course the rolls in this restaurant had very entertaining names (Unfortunately I did not take pictures) But their ramen is on the lacking end given that it is more focused on sushi. The tonkatsu ramen tasted more like vegetables (cabbage, carrots, and corn pieces in broth) and shoyu ramen. There was a lack of rich pork taste. So I would recommend to stick to the sushi! read more
