I would never have guessed this place was so good based on the outside look of it or the fact that it's a chain. We were immediately greeted upon entry and told we could sit wherever we wanted. The menus were on the table and then we went to the counter to order. A kind gentlemen came to our table while we were deciding and brought us drinks. I ordered the Red Mountain roll and a Spicy Tuna roll. My friend ordered a Philadelphia roll and another role (I forgot which one). Soup was brought out first and neither of us really touched it. I didn't enjoy the taste, a little sour for me. The rolls were handcrafted and made fresh right there. The presentation was beautiful! The spicy tuna had great spice, was tasty and I really enjoyed it. The Red Mountain roll was so good, I would definitely order it again. The flavors all worked so well and the spicy tuna also had a good flavor. The rolls did start to fall apart, but I managed to scrape up the pieces with chopsticks and eat it all. My friend and I had the place to ourselves for lunch and were not bothered by staff at all. They did come clear our empty plates and ensure everything was to our liking. We both agreed the sushi was really good and we'd come back. The reason for 4 stars - the prices high for a chain. I got two rolls and it was over $20, and I didn't even get an iced tea. Cute little restaurant but the chairs are very uncomfortable. You order at the front then grab a seat. We tried the won ton soup, yellowtail sushi, spicy tuna roll and the caterpillar roll. The won ton soup was ok. The caterpillar roll was good but could use more unagi. It was very veggi forward in the middle of the roll. The spicy tuna roll had great spicy flavor. My Lion King roll tasted like gasoline. I called the restaurant who said they torch the roll, so my suspicion was correct. I ended up trying to throw it up and then spent my Friday evening on the phone with poison control. The restaurant offered me a free miso salad and soup to make up for the rancid food - what a joke. Food isn't great, but passable and considering the pricing I'd probably go back again when in a hurry and not wanting the pomp and circumstance or cost of going out. In my opinion, this place is a half step above other sushi places in the area. They offer a sashimi box which comes with salad and soup, which I appreciate since it is rare to see offer box options. Their Cajun roll was a tasty, unique idea. The subtle flavor of crawfish was a bit lost with all of the sauce and crunchy stuff on it but I would order it again. As with other sushi restaurants near us, most of their menu options are California or shrimp tempura based, but it's good to see eel and crawfish making an appearance, as well as soybean paper and cucumber wrapped options. read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in over a year but I felt compelled to write one because the service was so above and beyond. We got the caterpillar roll, California roll and the dragon roll (all cooked because I'm pregnant). All of them were very good and fresh and also surprisingly cheaper than what you'd pay somewhere else. Everything was very clean and they wear masks and social distance (if you care about that type of thing). The staff checked in with us several times and the chef even gave us a free plate of nigiri. The only roll we had that was decent was the Alaskan. That is your basic California roll with salmon on top. We order edamame and gyoza.
