Seven days later, we decided to make a casual dinner run here on a Monday night. The parking lot was full at 6:00 but that was for the music lessons next door, don't be alarmed. Only 4 tables were occupied and it was easy to get service, this time from Emily (Em) who was very personable and attentive. Turns out, this trip the sushi rice was much less sweet, my previous concern being that too much mirin in the rice seemed to fit that visit, this one was fine. "First you eat with your eyes", said an ancient Roman gourmand whose name I can't remember. And he is right about that. These rolls and nigiri look fantastic (see pics), and taste equally well. This spot is 1.5 miles from my house and now is on our rotation. The Cherry Blossom roll, the Dragon Maki and the regular yellowtail scallion are going to be regulars for us. As a p.s. and this is important, the regular spicy tuna roll is actual tuna and not minced up tuna. I'm always afraid the minced tuna is yesterday's or the day before, diced up and mixed with hot sauce and rolled. So I always check that. We are all good here! read more

Ordered takeout for four very hungry people: udon noodles and veggie stir fry with tofu, soba noodles with veggies and tofu, scallops and stir fry veggies, California roll and bibimbop! Each entree came with a distinct sauce and fixings/side dish and unique flavors. Veggies were fresh, noodles just right, though soba somehow were more like ramen. Tofu, even though fried, was not greasy and just right in softness and texture!! All in all, a fantastic experience! The takeout menu definitely will need to go on the refrigerator!!! read more

Super cute sushi restaurant! We were welcomed right away. They have high chairs for the littles! The waitress was extremely pleasant. Went over the menu. Answered all our questions. Drinks were prompt and refilled quickly. Appetizers came out quick! We also got miso and a salad with our sushi!! Bonus! The food is absolutely delicious! If we lived nearby I would come here often! Ever debated on if you wanted sushi or hibachi for dinner? Well if so, this is your place as it offers both! My family and I dined at this establishment and found our eyes were bigger than our stomachs (but at least we had left overs!) Several sushi rolls were ordered and we had fun trying all the different varieties. You're also served miso soup and salad with your entree, which is always a nice touch. In addition to the sushi rolls, we also got the fried Oreos. However, I wouldn't recommend getting these as they came out a bit soggy and we weren't impressed. Additionally, service wasn't the greatest during our meal. Several times we found ourselves wanting drinks refills, napkins, and silverware. The service here is wonderful, we had Sara Grace tonight and she was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. She tended to us very attentively even though she was busy! We ordered the Cocoa Chicken for an app and it was so fresh. We got the Orange Blossom roll and added eel and spicy mayo sauce. YUMMM!! Since moving to the area, we've been trying to find the best sushi spot so when we can we are trying the local restaurants close to home. Our waitress was nice, but the service wasn't superb. The restaurant wasn't busy yet there wasn't much attentiveness. We were provided soups and salad with our rolls which was very nice and unexpected. My roll was okay, but there was a lot of cream cheese, and with no veggies in the roll that was all I could taste. The deep fried California roll was over some lettuce and was soggy and had an interesting taste. We had to ask another lady who was cleaning for our check. Sushi Asa is the BEST place in Greenville for sushi. In a strip mall a few blocks away from busy Woodruff Rd. this is a local secret. They are locally family owned and I have never once had a bad experience here. We've been coming for over 4 years since moving to Greenville and I will eat sushi twice a week if I didn't eat $50 worth by myself! They do take out and conveniently use a drive through if you don't want to walk inside. Their staff is always friendly, I really couldn't say one bad thing. Always great service. Food is always on point. Staff is always super friendly. We discovered this place back in February of this year. We couldn't decide where to eat like usual. We decided to try Sushi Asa and we are so glad we did. We have been here 8 times or so since that night and will continue coming back. So the GMC roll is one of my wife's favorites.
