But it's truly a neighborhood hidden gem. For the prices and the quality, I was quite shocked how well everything was made. It seems to be run by an older couple, very small family business vibe. I was shocked to get a box of an assortment of tempura on the house. The hospitality was nice. Honestly, for the quality of the sushi I got I would actually pay more since it was that good (but I hope the prices stay). It was definitely a pleasure to have a meal there!

I got…read morethe deluxe sashimi combo and the deluxe chirashi to go and it was amazingly fresh, like J-San sushi market level. The deluxe combo had red snapper, salmon, red tuna, surf clam, and albacore tuna. Fast forward weeks later I took my sister to dine in during my second visit and ordered the same items. This time, the fish quality had changed drastically. It was still slightly frozen, and cuts were either too fatty to be enjoyable or watery and chewy. The sashimi cuts didnt even look the same as when they had the grand opening. This time it had salmon, red tuna, albacore tuna, a spot prawn, and some really fatty whitefish. I was disappointed in the selection as I really enjoyed red snapper last time. The spot prawn was very fishy and limp, with ice shards still in the shell. I developed a stomach ache during the meal and had to stop eating. Its almost like they switched to a different sushi grade after the grand opening. Now its just like one of the other convenient sushi places in Toronto.

Who else speaks up when there's a problem with your meal at a restaurant?…read more I've always had excellent service and food at Monkey Sushi on the Danforth but today's bento box lunch had tempura, dumpling and spring roll that was not hot and definitely not freshly cooked. Thankfully I spoke up and the waitress was very apologetic and offered to make a fresh batch of everything. I said just the tempura would be fine. When the hot tempura arrived I was extra happy because there were two shrimp tempuras instead of the one that comes with the bento box (it's missing in the photo because I ate it right away!) So big thanks to Lily and rest of the staff for demonstrating excellent customer service! I love this location and highly recommend their delicious bento box lunch specials! This was my 7th time here.

Their lunch combos are a great deal, you can get a ton of quality sushi for around $12 (give or take). My favourite is the Osaka combo - it comes with a ton of food and as you can see they don't skimp on the fish. The ratio of fish to rice on the nigiri was great, and the rice didn't fall apart. I was sooo stuffed eating the whole thing. They were quite busy on Saturday during noon, so it took longer than expected to get our food, but the wait was worth it.

Looking at the Yelp reviews, we figured it would be a decent place to get food from as the ratings were fairly high. However we were wrong. Upon scanning the menu, it seemed decent. Prices were a bit high but we figured it would still be cheaper than dining-out. We made a $50 purchase which included 5 rolls and a beef teriyaki bento box. The beef teriyaki bento box was $16.95 so we figured there would be quite a bit of food. However, we got about 7 small strips of beef drenched in sauce. The beef was chewy and difficult to eat. The amount of rice was unimpressive and the miso soup was grainy and unpleasing. The bento included 5 pieces of sushi (3 salmon and 2 shrimp) and a 4-piece California roll. The sushi was quite small and the salmon was cut really thin. It was nothing special. I don't like California rolls as I'm a fan of raw fish so I don't want to give a bias review on the Cali rolls. Overall, it was a pathetic amount of food that didn't even taste that good. We struggled to finish the food, not because there was too much but because we found it difficult to get down. The spicy salmon rolls we ordered didn't taste very fresh and we felt sick after eating the meal. We easily spend $50 when we dine out for sushi but the quality we get is so much better. I think I'd prefer just going out to sushi places I trust rather than ordering delivery from a place called Ume Fashion Sushi.

I grabbed two of these. One box was made up of a Green Dragon Roll + 4 pieces of spicy salmon + 2 salmon nigiri. The other was a Red Dragon sushi combo + 2 pieces of salmon nigiri + 2 pieces of tuna nigiri. The employee there packed up my order in a plastic bag complete with chopsticks and soy sauce. I had a bit of each box and they were both great! I think that because these were the better combo, they were a little more expensive than the 2 boxes for $20.99. If you have any reservations about the freshness of the sushi - I still found it to be really good. The rice wasn't hard, the seaweed was fine, and the texture of the fish was great too.

Although the city opened up indoor dining again, it seems like they're currently sticking to the take out and delivery model for the time being. While I was there, there's another 2 customer placing their orders with a table of packaged takeout ready to go. They're definitely a hot spot in the area! This is an update to my original review 4 years ago when this business opened in my neighbourhood…read more This update is to directly address appallingly poor customer service on the part of the sushi chef/owner. I stopped in to order my usual sushi maki rolls, and requested extra ginger X 2. The female employee taking my order informs me that the additional ginger would be an extra $2.00. This was an increase from $0.50/each that I paid previously so I pointed this out to the employee. With that, the chef interrupted me and accused me of "always complaining when I come there" and asked me "what you want, what you want". I was shocked by his inappropriate tone and false accusation. I corrected him, informing him that I have actually never complained- and that I have been a loyal customer of his establishment since he opened 4 years ago (evidenced by my glowing 5 star review) at that time. This man was clearly confusing me for another customer and he would not allow me to speak; continuing to talk over me, repeating his completely false accusations. At that point he instructed the female employee to not charge me for the ginger. I insisted that I would pay for the ginger, but pointed out that most sushi restaurants do not charge for a little extra ginger. I paid for my order and informed him that I would never return to his establishment again as his display of horrendous customer service was unacceptable. Thankfully there are other local options for sushi who I expect would welcome my support, and know how to engage with customers. This man did not smile, say hello/goodbye or even thank you the entire 4 years I frequented the restaurant. The female employee was sweet; she clearly felt very uncomfortable with the whole interaction.

I didn't really have much expectations when I entered the establishment but I definitely walked away a believer. The restaurant is not very big with just a few small tables. When you walk in, there is a long table where you can order/pick up your food. Service was friendly and the food was ready in a relatively short amount of time. I ordered the spicy salmon and green dragon rolls which also came with a salad and miso soup. This was a pleasant surprise as I did not expect anything else but the rolls so definitely a plus. In terms of taste, I found both items to be pretty good overall. The ingredients tasted fresh and the taste was on point. For a neighbourhood sushi shop Aya260 definitely surpassed my expectations. The food and service were both solid so I would recommend giving this place a try the next time you are looking for a sushi fix.
