Dare I say that this is...the best sushi I've ever had? And it's in Stockholm, not Tokyo?
I just had to make sure that the Yelp world knew about this spot. I stumbled upon it on a walk elsewhere and was allured by the TripAdvisor ratings and the quiet post-lunch time lull. I was at first skeptical not to order the typical 8 piece tuna roll that I usually get at most sushi joints, but I am so glad I listened to the chef and ordered the 11 piece Dagens Lunch special, which came out to around 130 kr.
The miso soup was extravagant, and I know it's weird to define a basic soup with such high terms. It wasn't too sour, too salty, too cold, too filled with seaweed or tofu. Much like Goldilocks' porridge, it was just right.
The chef prepared the sushi right in front of me, and I was in awe at how many steps were involved. He made the rolls, put on sauce, torched the salmon and white fish nigiri, added crunch to the rolls, and put different sauces on the pieces (pesto on white fish, tomato salsa on salmon, caramelized onion on salmon, etc.). Everything was exquisite, even the pesto, which somehow married the fish and rice together with a bit of a nice and fresh basil kick. Am still unsure what was on the last two pieces of nigiri, but regardless, they were excellent. The rice so fresh; you could tell because it wasn't that sticky, dry rice that usually comes with sushi.
Yes, it's a bit pricey. But it's ruined sushi for me in that I can't go anywhere else anymore. For sure, a place to write home to Mom (and to you Yelpers) about. read more
