7/14/17 Out down south trying to catch the last bit of the south swell. I yelped a couple different places to eat instead of the regular spots. Nothing bad with the street tacos but I wanted to have a good sit down. We started off with Jalapeños empanadas and susanas pizza. The jalapeño were light, hint of spicy and great lively sauce to accompany it. The susana pizza, was more like a caprese salad on top o a flat bread. It was decent. Sorry, we were also given bread warm, with olive spread and an onion spread. Those were both tasty and good before dinner came out. I had the Baja chicken and my dear had the salmon fettuccine. My chicken was moist, wrapped in cheese, avocado and tomatoes salsa on top. This was the perfect dish for me! My love's fish was perfectly cooked and very tasty. And the pasta was exactly what she was craving! The drinks are strong so heads up. The espresso was good too. Sorry y'all no dessert and no pics. We were too caught up in being in the moment. This is a great place and atmosphere is excellent! Our server spoke both in English and Spanish. We came a couple hours before closing and we stayed till past closing. They didn't rush us and they were very friendly giving us other off the beaten path places to check out away from the touristy crowds. The inside is decorated very unique, almost like the Friends coffee shop meets Harry Potter?! lol sorry, but if you come to Rosarito and you come here you'll know what I mean ;) So in the end, if you've had your fill of street tacos and want a a great sit down meal, definitely give this place a try! read more

Kind of a kitschy little spot hidden right off of the main strip. Service was very friendly and attentive. My kids loved the house cat hanging around the restaurant. We got a tour of the basement where they have their wine cellar and a roof for private parties 8-12 ppl, which was cool to see. Food was good, but some of the ingredients were just a bit weird, funny actually. I ordered the BBQ chicken and my 1/2 chicken came out doused in what looked like a chunky marinara sauce, but was, in fact, a house-made BBQ sauce that ate like a hybrid of tomato sauce and BBQ. The chicken was very tender and I ate the dish, but I literally laughed out loud as I ate it because it was so unusual.) My wife's asparagus salad was the same way, where everything was good, but it was just strange to eat asparagus and strawberries in the same bite (like, I'm not sure in what way the asparagus helped the dish to be better or how the dish helped the asparagus...it was just odd.) Some of the best food I've ever eaten! We walked over from Rosarito Beach Hotel for dinner and couldn't have been happier with the location. Nice ambiance, friendly/attentive staff, amazing food at good prices. The home made bread was phenomenal, as were the spreads that come with it. We ordered the jalepeno cream cheese empanadas to start. I had the cilantro pesto pasta with feta, and it was some of the best pesto I've had. Ryan had the blue cheese alfredo and was also more than pleased with his meal. We also did a drunk sundae with Kahlua and the dessert didn't disappoint either. Highly recommend the tamales for appetizer. Hubby had craft beer which was good and I ordered original margarita which was bomb! Nothing watered down. I ordered the pork ribs, the presentation was beautiful and it had a really great taste to it. My husband had the pork chop which he loved a lot. We ordered a bottle of Baron Balche wine that complimented our meal. We also ordered bread pudding which was amazing. So far the meals we have ordered have not been disappointing. Susanna's is my favorite restaurant in Rosarito. A quick bite or a evening of fine dining.....they have it all. And the quaintest look, feel and ambiance you'll find in Baja. I've probably eaten here 10 times and I've NEVER been anything but completely satisfied. I usually order the steak and they have some VERY cool salads as well.. Tip: If you're a red wine fan.....order anything by LA Cetto winery. Good stuff and it's grown and bottled in the Guadalupe Valley about 50 miles from there. Yummm! read more

Best restaurant in Rosarito! Stayed at Festival Plaza over New Years because Rosarito Beach Hotel was sold out :(. This restaurant is maybe a 5 minute walk from both hotels. Great location in Rosarito. Menu, staff, ambiance was absolutely perfect. The owner gave us info on best wineries in Ensenada and other local attractions. I eat a lot of salads!!! We do high protein low carb so anywhere we go our menu choices are limited. We did indulge in a bite of bread with the complementary olive tamponade!! So delicious. Where to start? The service is always attentive, the food fabulous and the desserts are amazing. Susanna, the owner makes sure the food is always done to perfection so you can't go wrong ordering, but my personal favorites are the Baja Chicken and the Asparagus Salad. Not many restaurants have dishes that you absolutely find yourself craving and cannot get anywhere else, but Susanna's has several. Her wine list is extensive and you can dine inside or out in the courtyard. If you are having dessert, the lemon cake with sauce is addictive! read more

Thanks to a local, Ben who recommended Sussana's for dinner. We've visited the area many times and had not known about this amazing gem just steps away from the Rosarito Beach Hotel. To find Sussana's you turn off the main road, pass a water feature, a stone wall waterfall and the restaurant is on the left. It's a very inviting restaurant with a romantic ambiance. We were greeted and served by Julio. He was amazing. We sat in a cozy booth off to the side which offered views of the beautiful wine bottle features they've placed around the restaurant that adds privacy for diners and is pleasant to look at as an art installment. We started with the California bruschetta. Before this was served Julio brought us warm bread and olive tapenade and chive butter. This was so tasty, the tapenade was light and a great way to begin our meal. The bruschetta was good, a lot going on with the asparagus and other flavors. We ordered the asparagus salad and blue cheese fettuccini with shrimp and thinly sliced apples. Julio recommended a Chardonnay Sauvignon Blanc blend from Valle de Guadalupe (Casa Magoni) It paired perfectly with our meal. Each dish offered amazing flavor yet was not overpowering. My favorite of the bruschetta, fettuccini and salad was probably the salad. It came with grilled asparagus, fresh strawberries, tomatoes that were bursting with sweet flavor, pine nuts, feta, on a bed of mixed greens. It was light and refreshing. We ended the meal with a slice of chocolate cake and two scoops of vanilla ice cream with a chocolate drizzle. Delicious. Julio informed us that Sussana will be opening a restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe offering small bites to pair with local wines. We'll definitely look for her when we visit the Valley again as well as returning to Sussana's in Rosarito during our next trip to the area. read more

Just tried this wonderful place with friends! The staff was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is lovely, but the food is fabulous! I had the Poblano Pasta with shrimp and it was delicious. Every dish the rest of our party ordered had a lovely presentation, and everyone really enjoyed their meal. They are even dog friendly, though the house cat wasn't thrilled. I would definitely go here again. They are opening another restaurant in Calle Guadalupe, which I'm sure will be great! read more

Just went today with my wife. This place was the only one in that mall who greeted us. The restaurant gives a feel as if you are in a distant relative's home. There's even someone's family pictures on the walls. It is beautifully decorated inside, and the kitchen is the most unique I've ever seen. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Shrimp which was a little TOO spicy, and portion size was okay. My wife had the BBQ Chicken, which she loved. We both enjoyed the taste of the food. NOTE* that the prices on the Outside Menu are lower than the actual menu. Prices weren't too much higher ($3 ea.) I'm not sure why people are complaining about the prices when they are actually lower than most tourists spots, and the inside is beautiful and CLEAN. If you want lower prices, don't come to a nicer restaurant. Service was excellent. read more

This is the best restaurant in rosarito. Yes I have dined at every last one of them and often but for the preparation and quality of food this one wins. Sure it's overpriced but it's rosarito and everything is. The steaks, fish, salads are prepared very clean. They have a decent wine list and make a good cocktail. While down in Rosarito for a long weekend getaway, we ate here one night for dinner with another couple. It was the best meal we've had in Rosarito, HANDS DOWN. We started with the empanadas & the crab cakes. Both were executed perfectly! We also shared the asparagus & berry salad. Again, perfectly cooked! For entrees, we ordered the ribeye, swordfish & two of us got filet mignon. Of course, all perfect! The service was impeccable too! The restaurant is so cute & the open kitchen is such a cool thing! I went here for a late lunch the other day after word of mouth reports that it was good. The decor is very nice and calming. The inside area was a little warmer than I expected so I sat out on the patio looking at a very nice waterfall wall thing. I ordered a citrus salad and added a chicken breast. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly and spoke English well. Susanna herself was there, and seemed very jovial and nice to her employees. They served some bread, which is less common here, and the chive butter was delicious!!! Tapenade is also served with the bread, but thats a little too salty for my taste. The salad was one of the best I've ever had. The size was a touch on the small side but only compared to the large piece of chicken which was cut into strips and draped over the top. I moved them apart so the spinach wouldn't wilt, as the chicken was very hot. The balance of flavors was incredible. Lemon poppyseed dressing was present but not overpowering. Strawberries, orange and grapefruit pieces were very fresh and bursting with flavor! The chicken was remarkably tender and moist, like few I have seen in a restaurant. Even better, the price was very reasonable and I will be back for sure. read more
