Almost five stars. My family ordered the Cowboy Burger special, Mushroom Swiss Burger, Taco Burger, Junior Burger, Fries and Zucchini Sticks. Everyone enjoyed the burgers. The hand cut fries were well prepared and properly salted. The zucchini sticks was the only item that needs improving. At very least they need some seasoning. I would also prefer a bread crumb coating to the batter coating. They had a greasy mouthfeel after they cooled a little. I was glad to see Redwood Curtain(my favorite local brewery) IPA on tap! The food here was decent. When I went, the fries were not done well. They looked amazing and the outside was crispy but the inside was chewy. The burger wasn't bad but they did get my order incorrect. Yeah, I had a burger last time I came into town from the guy who at Stars for years and it was amazing, but as of now he is no longer here. I asked them where they got the meat and said they wouldn't tell me. hmmm that seems kind of strange they didn't want to share that info. I like local places with local products. I will eating at places where they don't mind telling the customers where they get their food. If it says local it should be local and that shouldn't be a problem. This place made me finally register so I can share what a crappy experience we had here. So my brothers and his wife raved about this place for the longest time, so when I drove 6 hours to visit, he wanted to get burgers from here because he said they were really good grass fed beef etc. (*owner - please read the whole review and see message at the bottom for you) We phoned In our order for pick up First, we picked up our 3 animal burger combos, two with onion rings, one with fries and three drinks ($39+tip and Kelly was awkward and not very friendly as we picked up our order) and got home, one was messed up even though we asked several times to confirm it was right and the disgruntled lady Kelly who helped us said she even checked to make sure that the order was right, but it was clearly NOT! I told my brother and his wife to go ahead and eat without me and that I would handle getting my simple order right. (He ended up saying the taste and quality of the burger was not near up to par what it was a while ago and that it has been going downhill) I made a phone call after seeing that the order was wrong and spoke with Kelly who told me " well next time you come in we can give you a free burger." What? I could not believe it. I told her I would come down and pick up a new order that was right. She replied rudely " ok, it will be ready in ten minutes" and though she did not ask, I told her I would bring in the order that was not right. I brought the animal burger and fries back to the storefront and she brought to me some huffs and puffs with attitude and a new burger that was made to order specifics (simple animal burger combo with NO ONIONS) I asked her where the hot fries were to go with the remade hot burger and Kelly replied "oh, I thought you were going to eat those ones" I asked why would you not remake the whole plate so the whole meal is hot (order, drive to pick up, drive home, realize bad order, call to correct, drive back to storefront (20 min = cold fries and not even back home yet) and why would you expect me to eat cold fries, so she rudely said fine and that she would make new fries. I decided to just get my money back instead of having hot fries and a warm burger and when I asked her she said sure with another serving of attitude and a sprinkle of rude and gives me $3.00. I giggled and said you are kidding right? And Kelly replied "well that is how much the fries cost." I shook my head, laughed and said "no, I'm not eating any of this" I can tell she was not happy with having to deal with this because she treated me accordingly. She refunded my animal burger combo in full and I started to walk away. I ended up asking the cook if the manager was in, he was not, so I asked for the name of the lady at the register, he said Kelly. (She signed her initials on the punch card "KF" I believe. ) I told the cook thank you and I left, empty stomach, no longer hungry because I was so pissed that Kelly was a jerk to me. Customer service sucks with Kelly, poor communication between Kelly and the cook on order specifics. *to the owner - customer service is huge and the way your employees treat the customers that walk through the doors of your establishment represents your brand 100%. I'm sure you know all this already but let me say that it is very important. I spoke to Kelly respectfully from the moment we walked in and we did not get anything close to that in return. At first, she was just bland. My brother had to make some convo to try and cheer her up, she smiled and when we originally picked up our order, we spoke amongst each other on the way home and commented that her attitude was not that great with us but my brother said Kelly must be new as they had only one other person with attitude other than her. It pisses me off to think about it and write this. Customer service, and my brother mentions quality of the burger need to be addressed. My wife, daughter and I were searching for a good meal in Eureka and gave the Surfside a try. The girls shared a Western burger and fries, and I got the Southwestern and fries. Wow. Definitely some of the best burgers we've ever had, and how they get the fries so crispy and delicious is still a mystery to us. The basket of fries are huge! And the trivial pursuit game on the table was fun to pass the short time until our meal was delivered to the table. The atmosphere was relaxed and well suited for parents with kids, and the Coke was well carbonated and quite enjoyable too. Next time we are escaping the Redding heat and find ourselves back in Eureka, we will definitely return. read more

Went for the first time since under new ownership wanting to give them a chance. No. Ordered a special burger of the day that was supposed to be a dollar off. Paid 12.50 for a burger with fries. Asked for no jalapeno and it was covered in them. Garden burger was cold and dripping in mayo. To top it all off the music was so obscenely loud it gave me an instant headache. I was put off by the service and food under the previous ownership and had not been there for ages, the other day I gave them a try. I was very impressed with not only the service but the food was really good as well. We had a take out order for four and each of us enjoyed what we were served. I will be back. read more

This place was great when it first opened several years ago. Sadly, it has gone way downhill. Since they expanded it's just not very good. Different staff and cook every time I come in. No consistency. Even when I order the burger well done it comes severely under cooked. It's not as clean as it used to be. If I'm paying $12 for a burger and fries it should be good. read more

We ate at this place on our way home from our camping trip. We ordered a number of different burgers, the chicken strips, french fires and onion rings. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and were just the right size (we ordered the smalls). The french fries were a bit too salty but everyone still devoured them. Now...let's talk about the onion rings! Just came here with my boyfriend and I have to say this place was lackluster at best. I was here awhile back and it was phenomenal. This place used to be a regular favorite but we have just had our last visit. We ordered a cheeseburger, 1/2 order of fries and 1/2 order of onion rings and our total was $21.75 (without a drink). A burger/onion rings/drink combo is $12.50 and then 1/2 order of fries would be $4.00, a total of $16.50. This is a regular order for us and we know what it costs so we disputed the bill. Lunch today..Chili cheese dog. I am always amazed how most, as this one was served. Under-cooked barely warm hot dog. How difficult is it to cook a simple hot dog so that it is hot??? Oh and by the way, why is the chili always served barely warm?? It wasn't warm enough to melt the few shreds of cheese on top of the chili. This infuriates me to no end. I just don't fucking understand. The onion rings were good and I like the semi shaved ice from the soda machine. A suggestion to the owners...invest in a food thermometer. First time getting burgers here since they expanded. This is my 7 visit so I am no rookie. The hot dogs are great, cut in half and seared on toasted bun. Salmon burgers are as good as always, large and tasty. All the burgers in my large order were dry, maybe overcooked? Double burgers, all the patties were dry. Maybe it's a food health thing but greasy they were not. I had to add some sauce the wet them up a bit. Last time I had burgers they were juicy, so maybe it's just the way they are doing it now. For around here, this really is as good as it gets for a burger and frys! The beef is AMAZING, and local too. The frys were cooked perfect, the staff was super chill, they have a couple cool arcade games (two player table ms. pac man, and a pin ball machine), and there's enough seating! I'm not sure why, but instead of going for the local grass fed beef burgers, I ordered the salmon burger, which I'm not usually a great fan of. I was more then pleasantly surprised and the fries were great. I was impressed with the service, very friendly, as prompt as could be for two people working the counter and grill. I had the Veggie Burger, which with the addition of crisp fresh veggies and jalapenos was delicious. I can't explain it, but it was the best Veggie Burger I have had in a while. Some people really manage to make a mess of them and some veggie burgers are really mushy and tasteless..this was not the case here! Some complained about the white buns, but they were great.. I would have chosen wheat if they had it, but probably not have enjoyed it as much. My husband had a BBQ/cheese burger and said it was the best burger he had ever had. (Maybe the grass fed beef)I tried not to sneak too many of his fries, but they were so good, it was hard to resist. The girl that took our order was super friendly. Love the fun surf shack atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and take "the kids" Personally I did not think that $18.00 for 2 burgers, fries and a drink was expensive. We tried Surfside today for the first time. It was good and bad. Two out of three burgers were rare/raw in the middle. I ordered the Western Burger and it was perfectly cooked, however I waited a few minutes to eat and the onion rings were very hot, they may have finished cooking the burger. Regardless, it was good. The chili dog was good, nothing fancy, I assume canned chili, but none the less, good flavor. I wish the French fries had come with a severely undercooked warning. Unfortunately all three orders of fries were unedible. They were pasty white and oil soaked, nobody ate them. I did not realize they served beer at first, as I did not see any advertisement for it, however after asking, the draft beer was cold and delicious. The service is less than desirable. The dark haired girl at the counter, was yelling at the cook when we came in, about speaking up or something angry and/or derogatory. She had serious tone. She didn't answer any basic questions very well and then had to come back and tell us they were out of friend mushrooms (no big deal, it happens). The restroom was poorly lit back there and lucky us, there were no paper towels in the machine. There was however, an open bag of napkins laying there, I assume everyone digs their hands through to dry off....... The price was reasonable, $40 for three combo's and a chili dog.
