I wanted to be their regular customer because I like the idea of their shop and always spend as much money as I can in my lovely paradise town of Gloucester. I am even ok spending MORE to shop here. Only stopped in a couple of times but the owner was not the most friendly. I do my best to support local businesses and, if I don't have a good experience, I just don't return. It takes a LOT for me to leave public, negative feedback. Sadly, I am today because a very close friend of mine was treated very badly and made to feel embarrassed. If you've had a better experience - great! If you've gotten poor customer service - or have not yet shopped there and you decide to give it a try and it doesn't go well - just keep in mind it doesn't seem to be a one time thing. We loved this place! The girls were beyond helpful! I bought a swimsuit, which I never do, because I really dislike swimsuit shopping! And just because they were so great I bought a new pair of ray bans. I ended up losing my sunglasses out of my backpack while traveling to cali and my husband was loyal as they were great and called and had them deliver me new ones! read more

We wandered in quite by accident. The shop is small, but very well laid out and organized for all of your surfing needs and they have a very extensive inventory. I was very surprised by how much stuff they had, but it didn't feel cluttered or disorganized. My daughter really was interested in finding a new necklace and she found many that interested her. The staff were very engaged in a conversation about surfing and boarding with another customer and it seems that they really knew their stuff. It is a very relaxed place. They so have plenty of beach supplies (lotions, bathing suits, flip flops, etc) and they also have stickers, bracelets and necklaces. Pretty good prices too. They are conveniently located off the main street with plenty of on street parking. A solid place for specific water sports needs. read more

Surfari is my favorite surf shop! I went by last week to get a cold weather wetsuit, mittens and booties and received incredible customer service. The shop is committed to the community and to providing amazing and friendly service in order to make beginners feel welcome in the water. A small surf skate/surf shop with a range of goodies which is pretty good for a local shop, especially since we're in place like MA and not CA! I went in the morning to buy wax and the guy and girl working there helped me out right away- Then I went back after my beach session the same day and they immediately recognized me with friendly faces, which made me feel less embarrassed about going in the store for the second time. I went in because I hated my cheap wooden skimboard that I got somewhere else and asked for their recommendations for a better one. I couldn't have been any happier because both were extremely helpful and informative. I'm a beginner and the guy especially took his time to explain the differences between boards, which ones were best, tips on skim boarding in general, etc. I really appreciate that kind of chill and nice vibe because most people just try to sell to newbies rather than engage in conversation about a common interest! He ended up going in the back to get me a really nice fiber glass one that he actually was going buy for himself, but let me have it. Thanks!!! Both workers have been skim boarding for a long time and they know what they're talking about! The girl also gave me more tips and recommended beaches for all skill levels for skim boarding. 5 stars for actually caring about a beginner like me and encouraging me to know this sport better! They also repair boards and help install traction pads. Definitely going back for the track pads once I get better and also when I feel like trying out surfing! Went there to see what I could find for traction pads for my skimboard. The salewoman was quite helpful, but the cheapest skimboard traction pad set was $60. I thought tha price was outrageous. The staff kept finding alternative merchandise, but sticker shock had set in. The two men in the shop staff, didn't seem to have the time of day for me. In the end, I got away with 2 $2 bars of sticky wax for a traction work around. Like anothervreviewr said, the merchandise is good, if you can afford it. read more

Great merchandise, but the service is rude and laden with attitude. I recently went in to make a substantial purchase, and the merchandise was slightly damaged and they offered nothing to help - they wouldn't give a discount for the damaged piece, they didn't offer to order a new one, and they would barely even engage in a conversation about it. Love, love, love this store, HOWEVER I do not love the owner. I went in to purchase a pair of flip flops and they did not have the color I liked at the Gloucester store. The female owner said oh no worries we have that color at the Manchester store and can have them here tomorrow. I thought perfect I can pick them up after work for the weekend. I returned to the store the following day to pick up the shoes. When I told the super nice girl at the register why i was there she said let me get the person you talked to. Over walks the owner who I spoke to 20 hours ago. She looked at me like what the heck do you want. I said oh hi you told me yesterday to come back to pick up the black flip flops. She then says of sorry didn't get those. I said oh I am kind of disappointed but I understand I'll come back tomorrow. No sorry no anything from the owner (no surprise there). I went back the following day and talked to the owner for the 3rd time. She still had not had the flip flops sent to the second store. This time she looked at me and said "I am so tired I went to a concert last night". I could tell because she looked hung over or something maybe she was just tired. I wanted to say listen lady I don't care I have come to your store three times now and still don't have my flip flops. I asked the woman if I could leave my number so she or someone could call me when the product arrived. She said yes and assured me that the flip flops would be there by the end of the day. I left and 2 minutes later I got a call from surfari. I knew it wasn't to tell me the flip flops were in but I was not prepared for this lack of intelligence. The owner called me and started talking about store business. I said I'm sorry I think you have the wrong number and she said is t this the Manchester store. Ummmm NO this is not YOUR store. How do you not know the phone number to the store you own?! When I told her she had the wrong number she told me no she didn't. My patients at this point were running very thin. The following day I got a call that the flip flops were in. It only took 5 days to send them on a 15 minute ride! I went in paid no discount after returning to the store so many times and dealing with the nasty owner. This experience was so frustrating and annoying. I pride myself on shooing local but I would rather use Amazon than shop her ever again. I think this business owner needs a training in how to treat a customer or just how to be respectful to people in general. Great store great location terrible management. read more
