Hooks Mobile Blasting was an epic find. I drove my 1970 Cutlass Supreme from Las Vegas to Chicago…read moreto restore it with my father in Chicago. I found Hooks on the internet and contacted him to get a quote for the entire car and a set of Rallye Wheels. The price was great in my opinion, so I set up an appointment to have the care taken down to bare metal. Hooks came out to look at the car and give a quote and then we set the appointment. Hooks was on time the day of the appointment and got to work right away. The entire process took about 9 hours, which when you compare that to stripping the paint off with paint remover or 40 grit sandpaper, I think you'll agree that this is the way to go about getting your vehicle taken down to bare metal. They blast the car with a sand and glass mixture and pump it through a pressure hose with liquid to cool the steel so it doesn't warp. They also add a rust inhibitor that lasts 3 days so it doesn't flash rust. Once the surface is stripped it is ready for primer within 72 hours. I can not recommend Hooks Mobile Blasting enough, he was professional and kept me in the loop on everything he was doing and things he discovered during the blasting process. And, when it was all finished, he cleaned up the mess left behind. Pat Hooks is just starting out with this business and already he's hitting home runs. Thanks again Hooks Mobile Blasting.

Glen's installers were very meticulous and timely in getting the work done this past spring. I am constantly getting compliments from neighbors !

I had Glen quote me on fixing my concrete issues. He only offered me the option of removing and…read morereplacing my entire front concrete porch that has two cracks in it --one was jagged -- so did not look good ($5500). Another company came out, drilled down the uneven concrete and coated the cracks with matching concrete for $100. Is this a lifetime fix? No, cracks do re-open but even brand new concrete can crack over time. Then Glen said to repair walkway was $2500 (completely take up and replace so it sits at higher angle to front patio so the step up to the front concrete porch is not so high up. Another company put in a form and built me a concrete step that makes it possible to not replace the walkway, and then they filled in concrete imperfections and cracks in the sidewalk and left me extra concrete color, if it re-opens. My garage needed a new step (replace old wood one with concrete) and he quoted me $225.00 which is reasonable, and my side step had sunk and he quoted me $525 to replace it. The other company simply added a step to the side concrete, anchored the new form to the house, recoated original step and charged me $200. Their cost on the garage step was similar but they made it extra wide, so we can fully step out on it. I guess what I'm saying is there is more than one way to fix concrete, and Glen only does it the expensive way. If you have a large budget (I would have had to allot $8000.00), then yes, go for it. I also had concerns that all the drilling of the front patio would affect cracks in basement wall on that side and re-open them and queried Glen re that in the email (no response). Glen does not respond well (if at all) to emails, so remember to call. I think that he does great work, but remember it's only replacement work. He's not going to offer you any kind of "fixing" it work. I've learned through watching the other mason work, that concrete is fixable, also, by a home owner. It's fascinating watching him mix colours to match whatever imperfection needs patching. I now have fixed some low places and cracks in my garage floor myself!!

Dealing with Chicago Masonry is frustrating and has left me with more problems…read more They were quick to respond pre-sale, but after signing they have been difficult to get in contact with. They first came out and stored a large amount of materials on my property for months before starting work. After the work was completed, they left a lift in my parking space for over two weeks. The contract was signed on 8/2/2021 and Chicago Masonry declared the work completed on 11/23/2021. The number of days of actual work was 4 days. The workers then came out and, at a glance, decided more work was needed to be done causing an increase in cost. Normally I would understand this, but I had the estimator come out and took photos before the work started. I just wanted the whole ordeal over with so paid the extra cost. The contract includes completion of proper flashing/drainage with all edges of the work sealed. After paying for the work in full, I find out that they did not complete the work stated in the contract. I learned this during heavy rains when my roof started to leak. There are spaces large enough to get my finger from the bottom of their work to the interior of the building. This is now causing damage to my property. I do not recommend using Chicago Masonry.

The quote was fair and they didn't really try to up sell us on unnecessary stuff. When my wife put in the request on a Friday evening someone called Saturday morning letting us know that someone would be out to review and give us a quote the next week. They were busy but they squeezed us in on a Sunday morning to get it done from start to finish in one day. Bravo!
