We stayed here for a weekend as a family and had a great experience. The campsite is stylish and right by the ocean, which made it feel very unique. The ocean breeze and the sound of the waves were incredibly relaxing, and we really enjoyed this very California-style camping experience. There was also free live music at night, which was a nice surprise. We had beers and light snacks while enjoying the music, and it made the evening even more memorable. The restrooms and showers were easy to access and kept very clean. If we ever stay overnight in Malibu again, we would definitely come back. read more

Rules seem to not be enforced.... Which can be good AND bad. They clearly state NO OVERNIGHT SLEEPING IN CARS. Yet the only two shady parking spots in the tent parking area were taken by overnight car sleepers with bad attitudes trying to push me away from resting in my comfy model Y ( that is set up for camping ) during the day. I simply wanted to rest in my car with the open back and was told that I should leave because they were there first? I was not overnight sleeping in my car. They were/are. This was intimidating and unnecessary. At the prices we paid for our tent spots we should not have to go through this. Shame on management for not enforcing their own rules !! Other than that office staff is friendly. Not so much the ones using the containers loudly on the upper level. There is also plenty hot water and beautiful views. read more

Truly one of the best experiences ever. We decided to do a quick RV trip and wanted somewhere with a great beach view. So happy we came across Surf Outpost. Not only are they friendly but so clean. Their laundry room, bathroom and shower was well maintained and clean. We went on a Friday so they had a little taco stand along with some live music from 6 PM to 9 PM. Also their convenience store had wine, snacks, social needs and more. I can't recommend them enough for your next RV trip. read more

Hard pass unless you want to: pay to board your dog because the rules say no dogs at tent sites then get there to find 3 off-leash dogs roaming the tent sites that other people brought. Get no sleep any of the nights you are there because 25 feral kids want to scream literally from sunrise to midnight and not observe quiet hours. Not have camp fires, those aren't allowed, but the asshole in the tent sites shooting off multiple fireworks AT DAWN can wake everyone up and risk burning Malibu down completely unchecked. Go into the bathroom and see that the feral ass kids clogged up every sink and left the water running and flooded the bathroom (my friend and I did our best to clean this up ourselves because security and maintainence staff apparently wash thier hands of the tent camping area). Pay to park and then see they oversold the tent sites and you have to leave your car at the entrance and schlep 15 minutes up hill to get back to your campsite. Be packed in like sardines to the point that you can hear your campsite neighbor's snoring like they are in your tent with you. We just got home from this exhausting, wretched experience and must say, paying $300 for 2 nights of this BS is laughable. You couldn't pay me to come back to this place. The RV sites are no better, but at least if we had brought our RV this time maybe we could have drowned out the chaos that seems to rule at this joke of a campsite. read more

Our group did ocean-view tent camping up top for 4th of July. Everything was great. Showers, bathroom, live music, food trucks, easy walk to the beach. Wheel barrels available to help you carry stuff from car to your site. Weekend/holiday price can be steep but I'd say it's worth it. You can have 2 tents per "site". We had a great experience here. We stayed two nights and wish we had stayed longer. The view is definitely the best part but everything was great. There is a cute little store with things you may need. It is a bit pricey but it's to be expected. You can go to the beach across from it or there are some beaches that are a little more kid friendly not more than ten minutes away that they had recommended. What a beautiful spot to camp! The premium sites are on a bluff overlooking the beach/Ocean. Gorgeous views of the Pacific and a front row seat for sunsets nightly. We pulled in on a Tuesday and departed on a Tuesday. The park was never filled to capacity (recent fires and mid Feb). The camp/RV sites were well maintained. Plenty of parking for your vehicle and a picnic table is at each site. The bathrooms were clean. The trash bins plenty and emptied often. There is a picnic common area. The Camp hosted an acoustic musician one night and a DJ/Photo-booth/ food another. Only suggestion here is to turn in the outside lighting. Cute little store with some of the essentials you may have forgotten. Everyone was super chill and helpful. Easy walk down to the beach. There is some construction going on PCH-so go to the light and cross over there. Easy hike down the trail to Malibu Seafood as well. read more

WARNING - Do Not Come if you want loud construction to start at 7am! Like they seriously could not wait until at least 8am?? Besides the noise, it is a great place to stay at. If you need grocery goods there is a near by food market. My husband and I tried to buy at their store and employees said they close at 9pm and so we went at 8pm and they were definitely not open. We went to the office the next day and one of the employees said that they sometimes close early when all reservations get there early so keep that in mind. read more

We've been loyal visitors to Surf Outpost RV Park since the rebrand--my girlfriend, our two dogs, and I have loved staying here for the epic views, the good vibes, and the convenient location just minutes from First Point Malibu. The general store is always well-stocked and the overall energy of the place has made it a favorite local getaway for us. After the fires, we were especially eager to return and support the business. We called ahead, booked our spot as usual, and made the trip out--only to be turned away upon arrival because our GMC Safari apparently no longer qualifies as an RV. This was surprising and frustrating, especially since we've stayed there multiple times before with the same vehicle and weren't informed of any policy change when we made our reservation. There was no mention of it on the website either. The front desk staff were kind and apologetic, but unfortunately, the male owner was dismissive and unhelpful, which really soured the experience. We totally respect a business updating its rules, but clearer communication and a bit more understanding would have gone a long way. We genuinely hope Surf Outpost continues to thrive--we just hope they improve how they communicate changes to their guests moving forward. read more

VERY POORLY MANAGED. This is our 3rd year staying at Surf Outpost but our recent stay was horrible. It which was meant to be a surprise birthday present planned by my boyfriend because this park has been a favorite of mine. On Friday night (8/15), we were woken at 11:00pm by a raging party next door with people singing really loud and urinating outside. The noise continued well past 1:00am despite a police visit, as there was no way to reach park management. Here is the video we took that night: https://www.wevideo.com/view/3875734193 The following day, I spoke with their manager, Saul, who admitted that the security guard on duty was new (his first day) and had fallen asleep, and that Saul had left to pick up his "wife" at the airport and did not return to the campgrounds until after 1am on Saturday. While Saul apologized and offered a $166.75 refund plus a free night's stay, this resolution feels inadequate. This park is not cheap - and his "resolution" does not even cover our Saturday night rate, and frankly, we really don't feel like returning after this experience. read more

Staff were very friendly! We had site 12 and it was perfect. Close to the grassy area but not too loud. Took toddlers and they had a blast. Drove to the beach though, PCH is super sketchy to walk across. The weekends they had live music, tea stand, and a taco stand! It was clean and quiet. You could hear the waves crash! It's tough because the scenery is awesome and some of the employees are great. The problem is that the WiFi is so bad that I can't hardly work from the RV sites. Let alone stream live sports. When we asked the employee she said to try and move around. Our 16k pound trailer is pretty set where she sits. It's expensive to stay here... maybe use some of the fees to invest in connectivity improvements? read more

Not sure if I would recommend this campground... Its got a pretty view from just about wherever you are but the spots are very tight and narrow and not easy to navigate if the park is even remotely full. Looks like lots of residents here as well. We wont be back tho honestly because of the price. This place is just WAY overpriced. Don't even think about buying that brownie at the front desk check in either unless u want to pay ELEVEN DOLLARS... bro... No thanks. The campground itself is pretty small and the spots are meh. Don't go here!!! The management is extremely rude. When we booked the stay they said we can have three tents but they called us as we were on the way there, 3 hours before and they said that we can't have three tents and the person who told us that was wrong. If your worker told us we could have three tents then they shouldn't scold us for their incompetence. They should have been more accommodating since it was their worker who messed up and we don't deserve to suffer for that. I wouldn't come here unless you are ready to be spoken to very rudely. read more

We have stayed at Surf Outpost (Malibu Beach RV) a few times. The staff (Anthony and Cristalyn - to name a few) are always kind, professional, and helpful. I had the pleasure of interacting with Saul, the manager. He handled a situation with grace and was quite thorough allowing for our experience to be superb. I would definitely recommend staying here for at least a couple of nights. We prefer pull through sites everywhere but the back in ocean view is better, if it is available. Our family has another trip planned for Malibu and we are looking forward to our stay. read more
