Unlike a lot of other campgrounds on the beach their sites are big and just feet from the ocean.

Seals and dolphins kept saying multiple times a day

We were fortunate enough to be able to camp out here for a quick Veteran's day vaca. It was absolutely beautiful. We had our very own private beach. Kiddos and fur babies had fun running back and forth. Be careful by the water the waves are pretty strong and there were rocks everywhere. Lost 1 ball to Aquaman when our collie tried to rinse it off in the water. We'll definitely be back :)

Stars were amazing the first night! The second night, we couldn't see any behind the marine layer and fog..

Despite it being a primitive campsite with no showers or flush toilets, we love that these sites are beach front property with amazing views! A lot of RVs park here, but everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. The restrooms dont smell as bad as most, and the water spouts are fairly close by. We brought a camp shower and water guns to rinse/cool off since the surf is a bit too rough to go swimming. I've always had a great experience the past maybe 4 years I've been here. The cars and waves can be a bit loud at night, but my 2 year old son slept so well, even better than when we're at home, so that was great! As long as there's no fog or marine layer at night, we've seen some pretty amazing sunsets and stargazing here!! Looking forward to our next visit :)

Two families had previously occupied the empty space you see.

This spot is great for lazing about and wading in the water right near the shoreline. Go out further and it has some small rocks underwater and the ocean floor drops off a little bit, which could be dangerous for kids. This may not be true all over, but it was for the one spot we hung out in. I didn't camp out as some others do; only a day visit. Parking wasn't bad right on PCH. The scenery makes for some great pictures. I think the public did well with social distancing the day I was there, which was a Sunday afternoon at the tail end of July during COVID-19. I would recommend for kids who will be wading near the shore or a group of adults just looking to splash about a bit and hang on the beach. I will have to stop by again and set up in a different spot to know if the rocks are all over or not.

Gorgeous clean beach. If you have a large group the host is very lenient on parking. A group next to us had 6 cars to one site. Down side if you're just hanging with your family you may have a rowdy bunch next to you. There is noise from PCH however after 9 it's very minimal. Hiking spots right behind the camp sites on the other side of PCH. There are ONLY porter potties (NO SHOWERS) however , they were decent and mostly clean with minimal smell. Only spigots for water which were few and far between. The beach is definitely a 5 gorgeous clean we even seen dolphins and seals. For noise (both campers and cars) no showers as a camping facility i give it a 3

So gorgeous! You can take some pictures right on the rocks

All beaches are gorgeous. It's just beautiful out here! The wind, the water, the rocks. Serene. Just decided to visit the produce man who wasn't ready yet and went for a drive to pass some time.

It was my first time camping on the beach and this place was almost perfect. I only left out one star because I think they should really make a permanent bathroom building with flushing toilets at least and a sink to wash hands. The porta potty is just uncomfortable and you have to wash your hands at a spigot. Other than that though it's a beautiful location! The workers are really nice and they gave us spot 60 which worked really well since we were right by a spigot and the porta potty, no long distance walking! :) it costs like $30 a night and your spot comes with a grill and a picnic table. It can get really windy so put rocks inside on the corners of your tent as you set up and I even tied the tent strings down with huge rocks too and that held up really great against the wind! You also have to put giant rocks inside the grills they have so it protects the flame from the wind and that allows the flames to cook whatever you want to cook. My partner & I came pretty prepared and we even brought our 4 yr old son, it was wonderful and relaxing. The sound of the waves really help you fall asleep and the beach is beautiful with the waves coming out pretty far so it's great for kids to wet their feet. We'll definitely be coming back again! We only had one problem when some punk teens came in to burn some trash at a grill next to us, this was really pissing us off because it wasn't even wood, we smelled plastic and it filled our tent with my 4yr old sleeping there I got mad that these teens would be so careless, my bf went to get a worker and the teens ran off. That's another thing I liked, the workers are always there so if any problem occurs they come out and help! It's a really nice place I recommend it! :)

We've all heard of PTSD…read more... You know, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But have you heard of PDSB?? (I'll break this one down in a bit) Well, if you've read any of my other reviews of the picturesque beaches in Southern California, your PTSD of "here we go again, another review about white sandy beaches, moderate temp. waters and picture perfect sunsets" by Lance L. just might kick in. But bear with me, because this review, you're definitely not gonna want to skip. So what is PDSB you ask? Well Point Dume State Beach of course! Yes, one of Malibu's finest & for good reason too! Sure, when everyone thinks about beaches in Malibu... For those with families, It's usually Zuma Beach, but that's where EVERYBODY goes and because of this, it's ALWAYS packed! And of course, there's where all the surfers go.... Surfrider Beach, hence the name! But Surfrider is for hangin' 10 and you just might get a big stare down by the locals. But Point Dume State Beach or PDSB as I know you will now refer to it is about to be your new favorite. Here's why: A pay lot which sounds like it sucks to have to pay just to go to the beach, but the minimal cost ($6-$15 depending the season) is worth it. The lot is literally parallel to the beach and once you park, you are right on the sand! In addition, Point Dume State Beach, although smaller than Zuma is pretty decent because it's not as well known about so you will definitely find a place to plant that umbrella and set up your beach towel to watch the kids play, throw a football around or work on your tan lines. As far as Safety, Not only is lifeguard towers right on the sand, but a lifeguard headquarters office is also onsite, so if something goes south, help is very nearby. Point Dume State Beach does have fairly maintained, public restrooms that's are serviced regularly by the beaches and harbors maintenance team as well as a few porta-potties onsite for use. The beaches themselves are clean and do not have a lot of trash, debris or tar like some of the beaches that I've been to up North on the Ventura County Side (Oxnard & Ventura beaches). And the best part, some of the best sunsets you can catch on this part of the coastline. Besides the actual beach, you can actually hike from the beach side itself up the Point Dume hiking trail to get an even better view or jump off the cliff if you dare. But.... Please, Please, Just make sure you are a solid swimmer if you are a real swimmer thrill seeker as the water near the cliff is rocky and the currents are very unforgiving. There are always calls for service where Lifeguards, Firefighters and the Sheriff's department are on scene performing rescues, but unfortunately, sometimes are unsuccessful and people have tragically drowned. So maybe leave the Olympic style diving into the Big Blue to the pros. And now that you probably have actual PTSD from me telling you how you could actually die if you aren't careful.... Maybe just shake it off and get some PDSB instead and enjoy the Best of Malibu from the safety of your seat right on the sand! "Life's a Beach, Enjoy it!"

Malibu Lagoon State Beach Park turned out to be exactly what I needed today. I came with my two…read moregirls, and from the moment we pulled into the parking lot, the day just felt easy. Parking is $3 an hour or $12 for the day, and the park is open 7am until sundown. After parking, it's about a seven‑minute walk along a peaceful path before the beach opens up in front of you. Most of the shoreline is protected wetlands, which actually makes the whole place feel calm and untouched. Even with the protected areas, there's still plenty of sandy space to set up a chair, stretch your legs, and settle in with a good book. My girls had a blast searching for seashells and honestly, they found some pretty amazing ones. The kind you don't expect to see unless you're on vacation somewhere far away. The waves were the highlight for me. They crash with this deep, steady rhythm that almost talks to you. When I closed my eyes, it felt like they were saying: relax, slow down, enjoy. And I did. The sun felt warm on my skin, and the breeze was just enough to keep everything comfortable. It's one of those places that reminds you how good it feels to pause for a moment and just be present with your kids, the ocean, and the day.

I came to this beach because Google falsely listed this beach as dog friendly. I parked and paid,…read moreand then a very friendly state park trooper stopped to chat and he let me know unfortunately dogs aren't allowed at the beach. He did direct me down the sidewalk further down that I could try in another jurisdiction and he was truly sorry and I could tell he seemed like he is a dog lover. I was disappointed that a woman came around the corner and saw me talking with him, and I called out for her not to bring her dog close to mine she didn't listen and kept coming closer. I pulled back and repeated myself and she said something like her dog is friendly. I just want to put It out there that even though my dog might be friendly, you don't know that. And no strange dogs should EVER have nose to nose contact when they first meet. The dog I had with me is old, has multiple health issues which is why I wanted to come to the beach and let her see the beach before she passes, and that lady's dog was yanking and pulling towards my dog's face and the lady did not even seem in control being dragged forward. I don't like that people aren't mindful and to keep their distance unless given permission to approach. Anyways I followed the path that the trooper had pointed to me, it was beautiful seeing the ocean and all the birds. I even saw fish jumping high out of the water and wiggling their bodies before diving back in. That was so cool. Unfortunately my dog couldn't make it very far so we just went to visit the Adamson House nearby which is dog friendly and then we went back to the car.
