So close

Unlike a lot of other campgrounds on the beach their sites are big and just feet from the ocean.

Seals and dolphins kept saying multiple times a day

We were fortunate enough to be able to camp out here for a quick Veteran's day vaca. It was absolutely beautiful. We had our very own private beach. Kiddos and fur babies had fun running back and forth. Be careful by the water the waves are pretty strong and there were rocks everywhere. Lost 1 ball to Aquaman when our collie tried to rinse it off in the water. We'll definitely be back :)

Stars were amazing the first night! The second night, we couldn't see any behind the marine layer and fog..

Despite it being a primitive campsite with no showers or flush toilets, we love that these sites are beach front property with amazing views! A lot of RVs park here, but everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. The restrooms dont smell as bad as most, and the water spouts are fairly close by. We brought a camp shower and water guns to rinse/cool off since the surf is a bit too rough to go swimming. I've always had a great experience the past maybe 4 years I've been here. The cars and waves can be a bit loud at night, but my 2 year old son slept so well, even better than when we're at home, so that was great! As long as there's no fog or marine layer at night, we've seen some pretty amazing sunsets and stargazing here!! Looking forward to our next visit :)

Two families had previously occupied the empty space you see.

This spot is great for lazing about and wading in the water right near the shoreline. Go out further and it has some small rocks underwater and the ocean floor drops off a little bit, which could be dangerous for kids. This may not be true all over, but it was for the one spot we hung out in. I didn't camp out as some others do; only a day visit. Parking wasn't bad right on PCH. The scenery makes for some great pictures. I think the public did well with social distancing the day I was there, which was a Sunday afternoon at the tail end of July during COVID-19. I would recommend for kids who will be wading near the shore or a group of adults just looking to splash about a bit and hang on the beach. I will have to stop by again and set up in a different spot to know if the rocks are all over or not.

Gorgeous clean beach. If you have a large group the host is very lenient on parking. A group next to us had 6 cars to one site. Down side if you're just hanging with your family you may have a rowdy bunch next to you. There is noise from PCH however after 9 it's very minimal. Hiking spots right behind the camp sites on the other side of PCH. There are ONLY porter potties (NO SHOWERS) however , they were decent and mostly clean with minimal smell. Only spigots for water which were few and far between. The beach is definitely a 5 gorgeous clean we even seen dolphins and seals. For noise (both campers and cars) no showers as a camping facility i give it a 3

So gorgeous! You can take some pictures right on the rocks

All beaches are gorgeous. It's just beautiful out here! The wind, the water, the rocks. Serene. Just decided to visit the produce man who wasn't ready yet and went for a drive to pass some time.

It was my first time camping on the beach and this place was almost perfect. I only left out one star because I think they should really make a permanent bathroom building with flushing toilets at least and a sink to wash hands. The porta potty is just uncomfortable and you have to wash your hands at a spigot. Other than that though it's a beautiful location! The workers are really nice and they gave us spot 60 which worked really well since we were right by a spigot and the porta potty, no long distance walking! :) it costs like $30 a night and your spot comes with a grill and a picnic table. It can get really windy so put rocks inside on the corners of your tent as you set up and I even tied the tent strings down with huge rocks too and that held up really great against the wind! You also have to put giant rocks inside the grills they have so it protects the flame from the wind and that allows the flames to cook whatever you want to cook. My partner & I came pretty prepared and we even brought our 4 yr old son, it was wonderful and relaxing. The sound of the waves really help you fall asleep and the beach is beautiful with the waves coming out pretty far so it's great for kids to wet their feet. We'll definitely be coming back again! We only had one problem when some punk teens came in to burn some trash at a grill next to us, this was really pissing us off because it wasn't even wood, we smelled plastic and it filled our tent with my 4yr old sleeping there I got mad that these teens would be so careless, my bf went to get a worker and the teens ran off. That's another thing I liked, the workers are always there so if any problem occurs they come out and help! It's a really nice place I recommend it! :)

Beautiful, clean beach. Restrooms are clean. Firepits on the sand. You can put your tent on the sand. I love it

What a great little campground!…read more My daughter and I, who are Los Angeles natives, traveled from the state of New York to surprise my 93 year old grandmother. I packed all my motorcycle camping gear into a giant duffel bag and checked it on an airplane. The campground was great. The camp store wasn't open when we were there but that wasn't a problem. We drove to a grocery store in Thousand Oaks and got some food, firewood, and lighter fluid. We stayed 2 nights and it was wonderful. We can't wait to come back and bring the husbands!

It turned out to be a great spot with large trees providing plenty of shade. The site is centrally located, so you share your backyard with others, yet it's spacious enough to maintain privacy. One downside is that people tend to cut through the site to get to the restroom, which is just a few yards away. If you're staying here, I recommend bringing a bike or skateboard for your trek to the restroom/showers and beach. One of my favorite campgrounds near the beach and close to home. It's peaceful and scenic, but keep in mind that it's near Mulholland Drive, so Sunday mornings can get noisy with motorcycles and cars roaring through the canyons. One more thing! I don't think this campground has any raccoons or any wildlife besides birds, well from the few times I've stayed here. The only wildlife we had to deal with were the kids.

On a road trip up the coast, we spotted this campground and knew we had to try it. A few months…read morelater, we finally snagged a spot -- and it was so worth it. Thornhill Broome is right on the sand. You park directly at your site and set up camp just steps from the ocean, with the PCH right behind you. The views, the breeze, and the sound of the waves crashing at night make the whole experience unforgettable. The pricing is very affordable, but keep in mind: there's no shade no lights no sinks only porta‑potties It's a very simple, rugged, beach‑front campground -- so come fully prepared. They do sell firewood on site, which is convenient. The closest stores are in Malibu, about a 20‑minute drive away. If you're looking for a true beach‑camping experience with unbeatable ocean access, this spot is hard to beat.

There's something about being right by the ocean that instantly slows everything down! The sound of the waves, the open sky, and just being able to step away from everything for a bit. The campsites are right along the beach, which makes the whole experience feel really unique. Waking up and seeing and hearing the ocean just steps away was one of my favorite parts. There's a good amount of space between sites, so you don't feel like you're on top of other campers, which we really appreciated. It also felt very safe. State park rangers were patrolling about every hour during the weekend, and we noticed highway patrol driving through a handful of times throughout the day, which added an extra level of comfort. A few helpful things to know: check in is at 2 PM and checkout is at 12 PM. The camp host sells firewood on site, which is super convenient. The gates close at 8 PM, so if you leave the campground, make sure you're back before then you can leave anytime, but you won't be able to re enter after closing. It can get a bit windy, especially at night, and the highway nearby does get a little noisy in the morning, but it's manageable and didn't take away from the overall experience for us. The bathrooms are porta potties, but they were cleaned often and didn't smell bad, which we appreciated. We spent our time walking along the shoreline, watching the sunset (which is absolutely killer here), and just enjoying a slower pace together. It felt like one of those trips where the little moments meant the most. Overall, this campground made my birthday feel extra special, and it's definitely a spot we'd come back to for another quiet coastal escape. Another simple trip that turned into a beautiful little memory for us.
