F*CK THIS PLACE! They will steal your money if the laundry machine breaks down. Let me tell y'all.......majority of their machines have problems. If you don't believe me, go find out for yourself. They wouldn't even give me a refund when the machine broke down and ate my quarters. Their customer service was awful. Their poor business practice is inexcusable. They will not take the necessary steps to resolve an issue and will not apologize or accommodate you when inconvenienced. On 4/11/22, at around 9:30pm, I went to the laundromat in District Heights, Md and washed 4 loads to include clothing, sheets, towels and blankets. Unfortunately, out of the 4 washing machine 52 door would not open. I, informed the 2 hispanic female staff who turned the machine off several times, which was unsuccessful. No other attempts where made. I was told by one of the female staff to leave my name and number. She will not be working tomorrow but she will leave a note for the morning staff. She informed me that her manager will come in at 5am and I said I have to work so I will not be able to come back in the morning but hope that the issue will be resolved tomorrow so I do not have to wash my sheets again. On 4/12/22, beginning at 10am, I called the laundromat 10 times but to no avail. I even left 2 voicemail messages. Since, I have not received a call back by 2pm, I left work early to go there and arrived around 3pm, only to discover my clothing still in the machine and the door still not opening. As I approached, the washing machine, I saw the female staff from the day before and asked why I didn't receive a call with an update and why haven't the machine been worked on and that I called multiple times. Her response was she just arrived to work and there is no phone to receive calls. Then she walked away to get her cell phone and made a call to a male who she was speaking with via FaceTime. The male assisted her with the opening of the machine. So she began removing the screws and stuck a screwdriver in the opening adjacent to the door handle. After several attempts the door finally open. The issue I have is that it was over 12 hours later and none of the staff made an attempt to get my sheets out, and place it dryer. Instead, I had to leave work early and go there because I couldn't reach anyone, and only to discover my clothes were still in the machine. Afterwards, the female staff didn't offer an apology or to rewash my sheets after the inconvenience this caused me. It is very disappointing to know I spent money at a business who doesn't care what happens when the machine lock up on you. I will not be going back to this place and neither will family, friends and colleagues. This is very unfortunate the way the entire situation was handled. I didn't leave work and go there. My sheets still would have been sitting soiled in the machine, which is unacceptable. Not to mention, while there several kids were allowed to run around, which would've been horrible if they got hurt. read more

I have only taken bed spreads to the dry cleaners but my daughter used them in Reston and said they were ok. So I tried the Springfield store. My daughter had stated that every bedspread is 25 dollars. Eventhough she thought it was a bit high she tried them. Overall, she said they came out good. Nicely wrapped like from the drycleaner. This was not my experience with Surf and Suds Springfield. First, the lady speaks no English nor tries to get anyone who does to help. I ask how much and she says 35 dollars each....What?? It's suppose to be $25. I have her call the other store having explained that my daughter pays $25 ea. Finally, the lady fluffs out my conforter and says it very big, but it is only a queen. She takes a pic and sends it to the other store. They agree...lol on $30. ea. She wants payment but I only have my credit card. She refuses it and says Cash Only. My daughter said she pays by credit card. I come back expecting to find my comforters wrapped nicely and look at the picture....says it all. After 60 dollars they don't even smell clean. Will have to take it to get cleaned at a Dry Cleaner. Highly don't recommend them. Maybe Reston store has a better work ethics but not Springfield!!! Waste of money and time! My daughter was horrified!! Oh, never got a receipt for cash. Wonder why???? read more

I tried to use one of the machines, and ended losing $10. The attendant, who was rude to me, spoke so nasty to me saying why I hadn't noticed that the machine was out of order. I told her that there wasn't a sign to indicate it was not working. I asked if I could please get a refund, and she told me I was lying. The only response I got from the Operations Manager was a generic "sorry for your bad experience" reply. No offer to refund or a free wash to make up for the poor service, nothing. I seem to be getting the hang of laundromats near me so here goes: I stopped in here after work since it was right across the street from the train station. The place was not crowded however there were two children who seemed to be everywhere. I know this is a laundromat and not a spa but honestly would it be out of line asking parents to reign in their kids? Particularly when the signs (in English) clearly state to not allow kids to play with the baskets. The floor looked pretty clean but this place suffers from what I constantly find at laundromats- a lack of seating. In terms of set up I appreciate that the laundromat has machines that are close to the dryers so you're not lugging your stuff from one side of the laundromat to the other. I think their prices seem a little steep. What they called the "20lb washer" could not even handle a blue ikea bag full of clothes (so maybe 10lbs max) and it was $3. Dryers seem usually priced- 25 cents for the big and 50 cents for the really big. But it only gives you 10 min for one tumble. Now- I have a question about their name "surf 'n suds". I had always (well for the last year when I've needed a laundromat at least) assumed that the "surf" meant as in "internet available". Now while I have access to three unsecured networks (including one just named "d link" which is probably the make of the wireless router) none specify that they are for the laundromat. read more

I haven't used many laundromats to properly compare but WAS content with this location. The washing machines are separated by weight (20 lbs, 40, etc), quarters only, and the dryers are the same size costing 25 cents for 7 minutes. After 3 years I've never had an issue since it's very straightforward, without gimmicks like tokens and membership cards. After a long absence due to Covid-19, I was happy to return and looking forward to running several machines at once. I started 2 machines and noticed one was running water without spinning, but the only attendant brushed me aside telling me to wait. After one machine finished, the attendant insisted on waiting 10 minutes for the other before admitting she didn't know what to do. What followed was over a half hour of watching this employee being curt and swearing aloud while on the phone with a trained coworker. While trying to cut the power manually from a back room, a machine near mine was turned off. This customer was not spared the employee's rude behavior. Mixed in was a series of infantile excuses that served no purpose or remedy. She tried to pass the blame by claiming the machine broke before her shift. When asked why no one has put up a note she refused to answer. The source of her behavior was that she wanted to avoid extra work, as she said to no one in particular that she didn't want to mop. After powering off and draining the machine, she watched me like a hawk as I moved my soaked clothes to another machine, leaving droplets on the floor. In the end, I wasted an hour longer than a normal trip, received no apology or offer of complacence. I had only enough change for 2 machines and a dryer. I was lucky to have gotten a refund or I really would have been stuck. As stated in previous reviews, a firm grasp of Spanish will be needed if you have to complain. Had the employee been properly trained or schooled in basic manners, I would be more forgiving and given a second chance. Now, I would rather do laundry on a flat boulder in the creek across the street than continue giving this location business. Adios surf n suds. It was fun while it lasted read more

This was my first time visiting this laundromat. I brought my mom to get her blankets washed and was so happy to see it was clean with a variety of machines. I was disappointed in the service when I couldn't get my nickels and dimes changed for quarters to use on there machines. I couldn't believe it, $2.00 dollars in dimes and nickels for 8quarters. She saw that we had like 4blankets and 3throws. She said she had too much change and gave me 3 quarter in exchange. This place has like 100+machines and not enough quarters? That's irresponsible business and doesn't make me want to come back and wonder if owner knows. I ended up spending $23 and that's a lot of quarters! read more
