My brother and I had a blast taking on the challenge of the Wild West room. I enjoyed the difficulty level. It was definitely challenging. We were incredibly close to answering some of the puzzles but just didn't think quite far enough outside of the box. Thankfully our game master Cooper came in clutch and put us on the right track. He also made the themed element fun. I'd definitely recommend this escape room, and hope to return. read more

Not a paid post, just thorough . Surelocked In in downtown Frederick! Near great food, coffee, and fun :). It's a great experience and Chris (the owner) is an absolute gem. He's so funny and if you have him as your game master you are in for a treat! Not sure if he still does the game master stuff though because he does have more staff than when I first went to Surelocked In many many moons ago. My husband and I completed all of the rooms and we had to redo one with a larger group--The Witching Hour--we recommend a group of 3 or more. Overall, our favorite room funnily enough was Witching Hour. The set up in the waiting area (the library) is comfortable and the staff really plays into the theatrics of whatever room you're escaping. It sets the mood and you're able to be more immersed in the experience. The puzzles can be difficult (looking at you Witching Hour ) but you do get clues so you don't have to bang your head against the wall to figure it out. Their most recent mini-room (Paradox Box) is based off of Witching Hour and it is just as fun. The clue props are worked into the room theme and it's fun hearing other guests working puzzles in the other room and cheering when they get something right . Prices are reasonable, $35/pp. They are super family friendly too so if you have little ones that want to try an escape room, definitely check out Surelocked In! read more

Four of us tried The Witching Hour here on halloween night. honestly, it was awesome. The room was super detailed (also a very fun setup, if you try it you'll see), the puzzles were tricky in the best way, and the whole vibe was super fun. We were so close to escaping, but time ran out right before i was finished with a puzzle and my friends were figuring out something else. we used all of our hints (3) plus an extra because we followed them on facebook! Our stunning game master, Alex (i think perchance her characters name was eloise), was amazing. Her character was cool and she portrayed it so well. All four of us agreed that she made the whole experience ten times better. (if you're reading this, thank you!) Even though we didn't escape, we had the best time trying. Definitely one of the most fun hours I've had in a while. It's super hard and i would say if you're doing the witching hour do it with a bigger sized group! it's definitely the one to try though. read more

We had a really fun time at Surelocked! Three of us did the Wild Wild Quest room last night. We arrived a little early to our reservation but our room was ready so they sent us upstairs. They have lockers are restrooms available before starting your game. Each room has a staff member is in character and moderates the game. They do not stay in the room with you but you can flag them down using the cameras for clues. We ended up using all of our clues plus a couple freebies, but in the end we were able to escape! The clues were a little tricky and I don't think we would have gotten them all without help, but we had a lot of fun figuring it out! I would definitely return to this escape room when in Frederick. read more

Went back recently into the wild wild West room. It was really great. Three of us finished with 18 minutes to spare. The only downside was that it was busy there so when we had questions we had to wait a few minutes. Also when we solved a puzzle, the room moderator didn't notice right away so if he didn't catch it at the last second we might have rearrange the whole puzzle, even though we had it right. In any case, it's a great room. The staff is friendly and kind and cheerful. They were just a little busy that day. I definitely recommend Surelocked. I hope they have some new rooms coming soon. read more

Great family fun located in downtown Frederick, Maryland. My son wanted to do an escape room for his birthday so we didn't escape room. We never knew that there were such exciting things to do in downtown Frederick as we live in Baltimore county in Frederick is about a 35 to 45 minute drive from our home. We are certainly glad that we made the track to Frederick to this escape room. It was easy to locate, parking is street parking but it was readily available, the staff was super friendly and the place was super clean. We did the dinosaur escape room and although we were unable to find all of our clues to escape the room, we had an amazing time. You start off in the dark and your first task is to find how to turn on the lights. This took us a very long time and although it took a long time, it was fun. The entire time hunting around for the lights in the dark. There's a special surprise at the end of the room, so if you make it to get out or if you don't, then you still get the special surprise. You get unlimited hints, so don't be afraid to ask. read more

This was a fun time. The puzzles are entertaining - complex but doable. We did the Santa room, which was full of interesting puzzles but did have a temporary feel to it, decor-wise - at first I thought it was specifically for December, but I was told of people who'd played it a few months before. (Possibly all the rooms here are decorated more simply than the few other escape rooms I've been to?) The rooms here are narrative-based, each with a lively, role-playing staff member monitoring your game. The staff member who supported us was wonderful - I could appreciate her effort even though engaging even a little in role playing isn't my thing. I'd recommend this! read more

I came here on 4/2 with my husband and another couple and wanted to provide a review on our experience (6pm haunted room). We got there 10 minutes early and the front desk person was helpful and funny. Then we went upstairs and hung up our coats and used the bathroom. The host came is and was immediately not extremely upbeat or nice. I get they are in character but we pay for an experience not to be feel annoyed by a grumpy person. The room and puzzles were somewhat annoying and I'm sure that's why it's the hardest room. The hints were really unhelpful and I just felt like we're inconveniencing the game master. The other experience had a screen with clues and that was so much easier, like we had to stop the game to let someone in. The "dark" part was unnecessary and didn't provide anything to the athsetic to the room. The game master was the biggest issue. We are 100% understanding of the mask and never took off our mask accept someone in our party was putting on his hoodie and the mask was off because it would fall off other wise. He scolded us and made it very awkward, I was asking a question he yelled at all of us and pointed. He could have approached us completely different. We were leaving at that time. Then he unchanged and got on the elevator and faced us. This was rediculous he completely volieted the 6ft rule after yelling at us. Lastly he rushed us out my coat wasn't even on. My friend realized he left his hat and the guy was so rude and didn't want to let us look as he was too "busy that night". Eventually my husband was able to look, I asked my friend to describe the hat and the guy yelled he knew what it looked like and cut me off. My husband looked and couldn't even get him to tell him what it looked like. We never found the hat. This experience isn't cheap and takes a lot of planning to visit from Baltimore. I just felt like we were a burden for the game master. I was friendly and asked how he was and he was so nasty. The other escape room company was great but what made it was the staff. They offered to take a photo with our phone. The game master here (no clue his name), snapped a quick picture and didn't even tell us where to see it. read more

This was our second time at Surelocked and had just as much fun as the first time. Highly recommend this for first time escape room players and old hands. We genuinely enjoyed the dinosaur room with a team of 3 adults. This room had some exciting elements and hands on puzzles we enjoyed. We did have some issues with one puzzle due to an item not working properly. I was a bit frustrated our time wasn't paused when we needed clues. We thankfully got out with a few minutes to spare. The theme is great, however the room could use some theme music to add to the environment. The staff was very friendly during our visit. My wife and I planned a trip to NYC from Richmond, VA. We decided to drive instead of fly out so that we could do 14 planned escape rooms along the way there through Philadelphia along the way. Being experienced game players, we opted to try to find the most difficult games we could find along our journey. This has to be the worst experience we had that long weekend and possibly the worst experience we had with an escape room. We opted to do the Witching Hour as this seemed to be hardest room Surelocked had to offer. However, while the staff were all very attentive and professional, the room itself lacked creativity and the storyline and clues were simply nonsensical. The pitch black darkness combined with the small candlelights provided was pointless and annoying at best. Furthermore, the dolls puzzle is simply too difficult when paired with the lack of lighting in the room. While I know this room is meant for a group larger than 2, as we were, this is no excuse the illogical plot line or the bathetic nature of the room itself. Thrusting people into a situation of total darkness does not warrant the high difficulty rating of the room, this is merely a crutch to allow this room to hobble along on. read more

We made it out with 58 seconds to spare. We did the Great Santaescape room and it was one of our favorites. We were very challenged and had to really work as a team to figure out the puzzles. Our game master, Rachel, was fantastic!! She made it fun, but really didn't give anything away. She made us work for the clues and didn't give the answer (which I have had in other Escape rooms). She was totally on theme and made it a great experience. We can't wait to go back!!! We're going to try Wild Wild Quest next. read more

Incredible! Rarely do you get gamemasters in character who are so kind and helpful! We were so well taken care of by Julie in the Dino-solve room! My husband and I are escape room/puzzle enthusiasts from even before escape rooms hit the us - think master theorem, and puzzle hunts. Our six year old who has started solving online puzzles with us at home has been begging to join us. We picked the perfect first room, as there was SO Much for him to contribute and the puzzles were super tactile and fun! He was jumping for joy at every puzzle solved! Another great escape room option in Frederick. This is the 2nd room we have done in Frederick, but I have done many rooms in different states/cities. These rooms are very well maintained and props/locks in great shape. I have seen some beat up rooms at other places. So these really stood out as nicely done and well maintained. The puzzles were challenging but solvable. Locks all were in good working order!(so important in a escape room! LOL) All the staff was super friendly and seemed to love their jobs. Enjoyed the theming and "story" aspect. Also enjoyed that each room has their own "game master" We really want the dark room to stick around because my crew wants to try that one really bad!! One of our escape crew is away at college but we plan to hit the dark room as soon as she gets back! The rest of us might come "practice" on the knights room sooner! LOL Great job Sure Locked In!! When thinking about Escape Rooms, often it's about having fun to celebrate an occasion. Surelocked In was able to take that to an even higher level and have our experience be even more special and unique, even within a relatively tight timeframe in early May 2019. They were able to make our post-rehearsal dinner into a memorable experience that our bridal party and their dates won't soon forget. After pitching the idea, the Keymaster sat with both us separately to talk through and formulate plans to make it unique to our group. We decided to do the head-to-head room where we could add a competitive aspect to the night. Clearly, I am not going to say much, as to not give anything away, except that even with the ladies winning the challenge, everyone had a fantastic time. The flexibility and creative nature of all the staff involved in making this event happen was crucial in helping start our important weekend of our wedding on the right note. Not only did everyone have fun, but we walked out excited about our next chance to visit the other rooms at Surelocked In. The puzzles here are challenging and not to be taken lightly, but everyone is in for a treat from the moment you walk in the door. We especially want to thank Chris for his insight and assistance amidst his tropical trip, Layla for her entertaining and wonderful conversation prior to our adventure, and both Michael and LJ for their character roles in transporting us to the pirate and medieval realms! The Knight room was very fun, even though it was very hard and we didn't finish. (The first time we've ever failed to finish an escape room!) I've been to numerous escape rooms, both in Maryland and in other states, and this one is simply okay. There's nothing great about it, nothing terrible about it. Some of the puzzles are well thought out, some make you go "well that's dumb." Their game masters are in character, which I'm not a fan of (to me, it doesn't contribute anything if you're wearing a cape). They have a system where you can receive up to three clues. I didn't put too much thought into whether I cared for this system or not until recently when I played with a friend and her 4 children. For a group like that where you're trying to encourage the kids to get into it and think, I'd have hoped they would've been a little more flexible on giving more clues to help the kids out. Nevertheless, the kids had fun (though they didn't come anywhere close to getting out). read more

Tonight we did Witching Hour. It was incredible! Honestly, we have done 13? escape rooms and this room is one of our two favorites ever! Each time we have visited Surelocked, we have loved our "game masters." Tonight was Julie; we've also had Chris and Holly (can't remember who else). When they say it's in the dark, they mean it! My friends and I have been here several times now and we are so in love with it. The people are friendly and they're always there to help. The rooms all have a great theme, the clues are just the right level of difficulty to keep your mind working the entire time without being impossible to solve, and after a little while you forget you're not really pirates looking for treasure, or wedding guests saving a groom... you just get lost in the challenge. There's something for everyone to do as it takes all kinds of different minds to get through a room. If you're thinking about trying one of these and haven't checked these guys out yet go do that immediately!!! The gang and I can't wait for our next adventure. Had the opportunity to try the new King Arthur themed room, Knight Out. I've never done an escape room before, but it was an absolute blast! The puzzles were challenging but definitely solvable and the staff did a great job of helping us along when we needed it without messing up our problem-solving flow.
