I have been to various Sporting stores and treated with the cliche teenagers just waiting to get…read moreoff work; or hiding behind the racks praying you won't ask them for help. As a single mom trying to save every penny; I've always been hesitant about walking into Dick's. I felt their prices were above my head and probably not in the market to help someone like me who's trying to save every dime she can. That was not the case for the second time now going into the Gastonia, NC location. I have been to Walmart, Kohl's, TJ Max, Target, and always end up at Dick's. Last week I was able to find and afford a great pair of lightweight Nikes for my five year old little girl without worrying about having enough cash in my wallet for groceries. From the associate to the cashier, Tracy; all treated me with special attention and care. And yes they truly care. Tracy empathized with me and my little girl and we ended up getting a better pair of shoes then she could have gotten anywhere else. My little girl wears those shoes with pride and as a single mom I was so happy to be able to finally give her something she deserves. Today I had problems at the exact same stores just finding roller skates not even imagining Dick's would have them. No one even cared to even step out to help me look. I was trained to believe Walmart, as much as I don't like going in there, would have them at the best price. Wrong. I ended up at Dick's again in Gastonia. I anticipated just trying to find her size and pray to afford them. Instead of letting me stand there and budget this months finances; a very kind rep walked over. I heard a very kind and professional voice say, "Can I help you find something ma'am?". I did prejudge when I saw the teen walking towards me thinking this jock isn't really going to care to help. Thats what I get for judging. Zach, kindly walked with me to the roller skates and instead of dismissing me with "Sorry we don't have anything." He checked inventory, clarified what I needed, and ended up finding a better brand of roller skates at a much better price than I thought I could afford. I couldn't explain to him how much my girls have been through and how his kindness was going to make life brighter for her because she was getting more than she expected. Instead I told him she was going to be sooo happy. He told me that was all that mattered to him. Lighting doesn't strike twice in the same spot and you can't make people care for people they don't know. This store is not just great, they are human and so their jobs with respect and integrity. After meeting their store manager, Aaron I understood why the staff was so strong. Thank you guys for always giving this mom hope and care to bring back to my girls. You truly are the best. God Bless.

First, Mike you were so helpful while I was looking for football mouthguards, and compression shorts. Made me feel comfortable and your willingness to help was amazing! I spent more money there because I felt like I had the help if needed. Sharidan, your confidence at that front register while I was checking out with the Affirm app!! Girl! You in no way made me feel rushed, a bother, or an inconvenience. You handled that like a pro. Eion, this is the second time you have gone out of your way to help me in the shoe department, the first time you don't even remember but I do. I won't go to any other Dick's, whoever trained y'all did an amazing job! You three are the A-team. I will be talking about y'all!!

I hope every mom or dad that finds themselves in need of multiple items for a new sport in counters Paul or someone like him. I went into the Concord Mills location of dicks sporting goods and made the announcement that I was going to need some special assistance. The people upfront called Paul over to help; he was amazing! He took the time to ask me about my son and whatever sports he's done and what do I have already. Then we started going down the list of the stuff I needed. Don't worry Dicks, yes he showed me the yeti cooler & new yeti chairs and I politely smiled & we both laughed. But seriously we got every single thing I needed all the way down to the little handheld battery operated fans that you put water in and he remembered to ask me if I needed any bungee cords; I didn't even think about those. Hey Dicks! Y'all have a true gem in Paul!! As I started this paragraph I told you I purchased A bunch of stuff and I don't know what I did with the receipt lol. So I really hope this gets to the general manager or marketing team because he was really awesome!!

Walking in felt like stepping into a place that has completely given up on basic standards. The shelves were disorganized, sizes were missing everywhere, and the overall store looked like nobody bothered to maintain it. Trying to get help was just as frustrating. Employees were either nowhere to be found or seemed totally uninterested in doing their job. When you finally get someone's attention, the help you get is minimal at best. It's honestly shocking how little effort seems to go into customer service here. The prices are also way too high for what you get. A lot of the products look average at best, yet they're priced like top-tier gear. For a store that's supposed to specialize in sports equipment, the experience feels lazy and poorly managed. There are far better places to shop where the store is organized, the staff actually help you, and the prices make sense. After this visit, I have zero reason to ever come back.
