Despite all logistical challenges, over the years Stanley & his crew renovated our bathroom, replaced our ancient wooden retaining walls with permitted concrete walls; rebuilt deck stairs; installed an under-deck ceiling system, stayed into the night to replace a patio door surrounded by dry rot that turned out to have been installed UPSIDE down by the original installers before we bought the house in 1989! He has come late at night when the power went off and our sump pump stopped working and caused flooding during a storm -- he brought a generator and cut out ruined carpeting. In fact, he installed all new flooring in our completely furnished house, working while we were away. We trust him that much. He also replaced the front stairs to our house... they were riddled with dry rot. He built planters to hide our garbage cans, since we have absolutely no space to store them out of sight. He has even repaired our gas fireplaces and also repaired our central furnace -- which the company that installed it had said should be replaced. They know how to install but not repair, he said after the reading the manual. He's the smartest person I know. If he has time to work with you, don't pass him up!

I just had my roof redone and needed the stucco patched around the fireplace and the whole gable removed and re plastered. They did an excellent job on both, the fireplace patch was of big concern to me as it is only 4 ft from my pool and i was concerned that the stucco removal would end up in my pool but alas..there wasn't one piece of material in the pool and the roofers commented on the water proofing that he did was top notch work. The front gable was prepped by dale and crew for the roofers to roof up to it and again they were very impressed with his work. I was concerned that the new roof would get stucco all over it as he was going to do it after the shingle install but Dale assured me that wouldn't happen and it didn't. Hat's off to Friis plastering for being true craftsmen in the art of stuccoing.

Warning to Anyone Considering VMS Landscaping (Victor):…read morePlease be careful. Only pay after the work is completed and make sure to get proper identification so you know who you're dealing with. Here is my experience: I signed a contract with Victor from VMS Landscaping about 2 weeks ago for retaining walls and steps in my hillside backyard. The total project cost was $10K. We agreed to a $1K deposit and then step-by-step payments. At first, things seemed fine. I paid Victor $2K to begin the retaining wall (total paid $3K). He brought in a crew and promised the job would be done in about a week and a half. Then issues began: He asked for another $2K before finishing the first step. I only agreed to $1K, which I paid after the retaining wall was completed. He then asked for $2K more to start step two. I told him I'd pay only once I saw work being done. After he showed up alone and did some work, I sent $2K (to his mother, at his request). From that point on, the project went downhill. He only showed up for two short days (around 3 hours each time), then stopped coming altogether. Despite repeated calls and texts, he has not returned. Twice he promised to send workers, but no one ever showed. At this point, I have paid him $6K (over half of the total project), but my yard is still unfinished and left messy with his tools scattered around. Victor, if you see this, I hope you take responsibility and finish the job. Don't let this situation ruin your reputation or your supposed 30 years in business.

Potential clients should be aware of the following: 1. No license or insurance - They used another contractor's insurance, but it lapsed during our project. 2. Poor attention to detail - Much of the work was sloppy or incorrect (details below). 3. Failure to finish the job - They left several tasks incomplete. 4. Misrepresentation of crew size - Claimed to have 8 workers, but over 4 months we never saw more than 4 on site. 5. Constantly asking for money early - Requested payments before agreed-upon dates. Each time I paid, he disappeared for several days. 6. Lack of communication - Like other reviewers noted, once paid, Victor stopped responding. I called every day for three weeks with no reply. Examples of sloppy or incorrect work: * Improper turf installation with pavers set inside. Lines in turf and not properly installed around pavers. * Crew unable to cut pavers at 45° angles for steps. * Walkway offset 6 inches from the door and never corrected. * Gravel sloped toward the house, causing water to run to the foundation. * No skilled carpenter on the team--poor results with any woodwork. * Planting never completed. * Uneven paver joints (some gaps 1/16", others 1/4"). * Retaining wall base not compacted properly--cracking and sinking appeared within 3 months. Final warning: One of their vendors reported that Victor's team picked up (and stole) supplies I had paid for. The vendor had no proof, so they ultimately honored the order but insisted on delivering only when I was present, as they no longer trusted Victor or VMS.

I think everyone in their right mind would agree that if you have a problem with the foundation to…read moreyour home, that would qualify as a "major repair" in any home owners book. Apparently not so for this company. I called these guys to see if I can get an estimate on a foundational issue i have with my home after seeing their add on Craigslist. The floor is very unstable and needs some structural reinforcement underneath the subfloor. I also wanted to remodel both my bathrooms (a service they explicitly state they perform on their website if you visit it), and access the foundation through one of the bathrooms. Here's how the conversation went: Me: I'd like to have you guys give me an estimate to repair my foundation and remodel both my bathrooms Them: We don't do small jobs Me: No, you don't understand, I want you guys to take a look at my foundation issues and remodel my bathrooms. Those are both major repairs and your website says you do home remodels and renovations. Them: You need to hire a structural engineer to draw up a plan first before we even look at it. Otherwise, it's a waste of our time. Me: Ok, do you know of any "structural engineers" you've worked with in the past that you can refer to me? Them: No. We don't deal with structural engineers. Me: But your website says you do complete home remodels? You can't look at my foundation to see what can be done or to at least give me quote on my bathrooms? Them: We don't do that kind of work WTF!!!! You guys are supposed to be a general contractor! The guy I spoke with [the owner perhaps?] totally patronizing on the phone with total condescending attitude. And all I wanted was to hire the guy to do what he advertises on his website. Hey Construction on Time, Inc. I don't know what your issue was with my request, but by the tone of your voice and your attitude towards a potential customer, I seriously doubt your integrity and your ability to perform your work. You tell me to hire a "structural engineer" first before you would even consider giving me an estimate, but yet can't refer me to one I can hire? Totally rude. Totally unprofessional. Totally unhelpful.

Peter and his main guy (Tom) did a fantastic job with the bathroom. I picked out beautiful natural stone travertine tiles for the flooring and shower. The shower enclosure is clear glass and looks awesome. I love my granite counter top sink! The team was also very cost conscious but surly did not cut any corners on quality workmanship. Everything was done 100% professionally. Peter came out and gave me an upfront consultation and free quotes, estimates and even some great design ideas. The entire job was fully permitted with the City of Saratoga. Even the city inspectors said that the Construction On Time team did excellent work. In 2011 it was time to attack the main bathroom, the big one! Dual sink and complete face-lift. I couldn't be happier which is what prompted me to write this Yelp review. Again, Peter, (Tom), and the rest of the crew were back and this time we had a lot of fun with picking light fixtures and plumbing fixtures. The bathroom looks gorgeous. My sister could not stop commenting how she felt she was at a luxury hotel when she came over. This time we did full granite slabs in the shower (Peter's idea), Love it! Soo easy to clean without grout tile. It looks amazing. We used a glass tile on one accent wall and all top of the line plumbing fixtures: Hansgrohe and yes, the silent closing toilet seat which made Toto famous. I never thought I'd be so excited over a darn toilet! And once again, the Construction On Time was literally on time and super flexible. During the 2nd bathroom remodel I wanted to add a new solid six-panel door to the bathroom (oh and all the other hallway doors x 8)! Graciously a change order was in place and voila, beautiful hallway doors to complete the feel of the new bath entry. The city inspectors passed our permit signings every time the first time! Thank you Peter (and Tom) and the rest of the crew at Construction On Time. I'll be giving you a call when I'm ready to do my kitchen!!!
