Dentist is a good guy, but the business side is horrible. Just kids running the office and its always chaos.

Nice clean office. Professional staff. The wait time was excessive. The dentist rushed through the cleaning and he hurt me.

I have held back from leaving a review for many years, but as I continue to work and spend…read morethousands on rectifying the work done, I feel responsible to do this. Eight years after walking into this office, I can look back and be certain that walking in was one if not the worst decision of my life. Teeth are precious and not only tools for chewing--they're part of an interconnected system involving digestion, posture, emotions, energy, and overall vitality. This practice doesn't focus on any of that but surely has a strong focus to sell. I worked with 3 different dentist's here; I was young and said yes to everything: frequent cleanings and all the upsell that comes with that, many fillings, crowns, 3 root canals, and even more! I thought I was being responsible. One of the main things to highlight is, absolutely ALL of the crowns were left with a margin. I learned over the years by asking questions that same day crowns are typically found in chain practices where the doctor is not the one molding and the staff is not always well equipped. This was absolutely true. I can think of a time where I removed the molding for the assistant myself(of course I did it wrong). I visited another dentist during that time who did a 3D scan. That doctor warned me of the margin on a particular tooth. I went back to this practice and Dr. Lising minded. She insisted that the crown was fine. That was on a root canal so I didn't feel discomfort, yet the crown fell off on a random day. Sadly it was too late-there was significant decay underneath and the tooth had to be shaved down significantly. Dr. Lising was not pleasant to work with during this time. As I read on many other recent reviews, I also experienced the arrogance. She laughed at my hesitation to "fix" the issue. I agreed to placing a dental post to then place a new crown. Sadly, the post caused the tooth to break and led to an infection that showed while pregnant. I had to have an extraction while pregnant and an implant months later. This costed me several thousands. On a different occasion, I complained of sensitivity on a particular tooth and was told that I needed a root canal. With what I know now, I can say that it was called too early. All I did was say that it was sensitive, that's it. Root canals are bad news and I just extracted a second one. The recovery was brutal. I have one to more to go. Another experience was an onlay that fell off 4 times before it never moved again- I don't know how that was accomplished. If I could go back, I would want my young self to read this review and be intrigued to read on functional/biological dentistry. You will find a doctor who will cost you a bit more per visit but a whole lot less over time, a Dr. that will care to save your teeth. I do not have any pleasure in leaving this review, in fact it is hard but I feel a strong need to. I have spent thousands of dollars over the last 4 years to redo all the work that I have paid for in the past! It is painful in every way and I don't wish it on anyone. If you are looking for a dentist, please be kind to yourself and look for a Dr that will care for you from a functional perspective and educate you while saving your teeth.

Thank goodness for the additional opinions!! Also what bothered me greatly was he kept touching my shoulder. Probably 3-4 times! I just wanted to run away! Dr. Herbst Informed me that I needed two crowns on my upper left molars. The reason I went to him was that I was experiencing pain and pustules of pus on one of the two molar crowns in question. Several days later, I informed Dr. H. that I was still in pain subsequent to the prescription antibiotic mouth wash he prescribed for me. He informed me that the pain would go away once the new crown arrived. The new crown arrived and I informed him that I had to re-order additional antibiotic mouthwash and my tooth was still in pain. He insisted that everything will be fine once He inserted the new crown. I was very reluctant to have the new crown place over my aching tooth. I wanted him to realize that I absolutely did not want the new crown without further investigation. I informed him that I requested a second opinion from my doctor at MD Anderson. I was confident that he would stop with my request. Dr. H proceeded to Informed me in a manner of authority that I did not have cancer and placed the new crown over my infected root canal. After a Short time, my new crown was seeping puss. When I returned to see him he became very nervous and started to call other dental specialists. I walked out informing him that I would not trust anyone he recommended. Needless to say, my new crown and root canal had to be extracted at great cost. I am very disappointed in this dentist. I could have filed a complaint with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. I just hope that this negative experience will make Dr. H realize that he must have more respect in listening to his female patients, in lieu of focusing on the remuneration he will receive by inserting a new crown.

I called and they booked me the same day with Matt. I usually see Dr. Davis but I took a chance on Matt. He took the time to hear my gripes and carefully explained his assessment in laymans terms. 5-10 min later my problem was fixed. I always think of Dr. Davis when being complimented about my smile, which is on a pretty frequent basis. (pursuing acting in LA so my smile is used daily). Years ago before I moved, I had had braces twice by another orthodontist but for some reason I was still not happy with my smile. I was looking into veneers when I decided to go see Cosmetic Dental Associates. I remember walking into the office thinking this would cost me or at the time my father a small fortune. They quickly got me into a chair and after showing Dr. Davis a couple of pictures of what I thought my smile should look like he explained my teeth were perfectly straight and just needed to be manicured a smidge to give them a more symmetrical appearance. I thought It would hurt, I'd have to schedule another appointment and still a small fortune. He calmly explained he could do it right there within seconds. At this point I had enough trust in him that he knew what he was doing. Without asking the price I just said "go ahead". Within less than 2 min I could already see my smile was adjusted perfectly. As I thanked him and walked out I was surprise that the cost was no more than just a regular visit. I was prepared to write more on a blank check but I think he def. had my best interest and could see I just needed small adjustments. I'm forever appreciative, as people I meet and run into over the years tell me I have a million dollar smile. The office is very attentive, professional, and a great aura to be around.

Sadly, I cannot give a one star review…read more At an annual cleaning appointment Dr. Davis suggested replacing my crown for cosmetic reasons and I unknowingly left for college in August 2025 with a crown that was not properly fitted. I was left alone at college with severe teeth pain, ear aches, nerve pain, and I could only chew on one side of my mouth because of the intense pain I felt day and night. I frequently visited emergency rooms and dentists in Austin with additional incurred costs, not knowing my pain came from my tooth being severely inflamed and infected due to deep decay, damage, and trauma because of my ill-fitted crown. I returned to Houston and alerted Dr. Davis and staff of my severe pain, where I immediately came to tears because of my immense pain, and he came to the solution to shave down my crown. He said that shaving my crown would help, but that I might need a root canal if the pain continued. I was not given an X-ray, which would have shown how infected and damaged the root of my tooth was. At this appointment the urgency and need of getting a root canal was severely brushed over. After visiting a new dental practice, I was told that I needed immediate care (root canal and crown replacement) because of my ill-fitted crown that could have left me with permanent damage, and even the loss of my tooth. As a young female college student, I have endured immense stress, pain, and emotions due to the lack of attention and care from Cosmetic Dentist Associates. I have lived a very difficult six months where my tooth and nerve pain were a constant stressor, when it could have been completely avoidable if I had received proper care from this dental practice in the first place. I am happy to say that I have received attentive care from a dentist in Austin and finally, six months later I am able to chew on both sides of my mouth, and not live in fear that my porcelain crown would break inside of my mouth with a dead tooth. I advise every one who comes to Cosmetic Dental Associates to advocate for themselves, as I have spent half a year of my youth in serious pain, when it could have been completely avoided or caught earlier if I was listened to.
