Horrendously Shambolic Service!…read more If you want the study of best customer service and eatery experience, go to Mondo to see why it failed that in every category. My mother and I went there for a lunch on the spur of the moment because it looked so interesting and healthy. However, that was wishful thinking. The salad bowls have endless number of ingredients: that became time-consuming to read and decide which one to order like this very entitled customer (more on that in a minute). That also created the problem for the staff who must spend more time assembling the salad bowls to the order. What's more, the very entitled customer in front of me spent more than five minutes discussing with the cashier which salad bowl to order and whether she could substitute the ingredients. The cashier was too accommodating and too loquacious. Oh, gosh, I was fuming due to sheer hunger. When it was my turn to order, the cashier pointed out that the hot dish I wished to order was 86ed. Nothing to indicate that when I looked at the menu board. I had to make the quick decision which alternative dish to order. My hot dish was promptly served while my mum's salad wasn't. We waited about ten minutes before realising something amiss. The guy who was preparing salad bowls suddenly stopped and took over the cash till when the customers came in. The staff was bouncing off the stations without any sense of priorities. My dish was getting cold so I walked over and glared at the guy to finish the salad bowl. Exasperatedly, my mum approached the guy to give the piece of her mind about the shambolic service. When she finally got her bowl, I was finished with mine. Unfortunately, the salad bowl was underwhelming and tasteless. Perhaps they forgot the dressing when rushing through. A guy with two toddlers got so frustrated and angry when his order for smoothie and a slice of apple pie weren't served after waiting more than fifteen minutes. A customer who came in after this guy ordered the smoothies and got them right away. That didn't sit well with the father. Just don't go there if you don't want to wait 15 minutes in the queue to order and another 15 minutes for the salad bowls as well as getting the dishes out of sequence.

I didn't understand her initially but said no. I guess it would have been too much of a scene to ask us to leave, especially since everyone coming in after us had no reservations. Our order was taken promptly, the food again was high quality and delicious. When time for the check, the staff ignored us for an hour. I sent my children back to the hotel after 20 minutes as it had been a long couple of days of activity and travel. I waited an entire hour for the check after others who had come after me ate, paid and left. I could have left cash but wasn't sure if taxes were required and didn't want to pay too little. I drank 3 carafes of water while being ignored. As it got closer to closing and after I had to use the restroom, the manager/server finally made eye contact so I could request my check. If you are black or brown, DO NOT come here. Yoshoku is very close but was completely full when we went. That food looked just as delicious and I suspect won't come with a healthy serving of racism and disrespect.

I've travelled the world and had ramen in all corners, and this place ranks within the top 5 places I've tried. It is right next door to a pho place, and they're run together. We had the gyoza (in a sublime drizzled sauce), the beef spring rolls (drizzled in a lite fish sauce), and the Shoyu ramen, with pork base. Everything was amazing and we would come back here in a second if in Nuremberg again. Supremely delicious!

First a disclaimer, I never made it inside the restaurant but stayed out on the patio because the…read moreweather was simply fabulous that night. Looked like everyone had the same idea. The patio overlooks the Tiergaertner Tor Platz and it was crowded like a beehive tonight. The huge plaza tree was lit up and thousands of folks enjoying their night on the patios of the surrounding restaurants, on the plaza benches, or even seated on the ground. Great ambiance all together. The staff was very attentive and we didn't seem to have an assigned server as any of them passing by checked to see if we needed anything. The menu here changes often, but also has a few staples and some innovative takes on our Franconian dishes. So we discovered Pretzel pizza... I was suspicious at first, reading the list of ingredients, but threw caution in the wind and went for the Franconian version (my friend opted for the Vegetarian). It really did sound horrible... laugen dough (which is what pretzels are made of), Schmarrn (related to sourcream, or cream cheese, but not quite the same), local brats, kraut, cheese and tomatoes. I was prepared for a nightmare... but it ended up being delicious. The pizzas were served with a mini salad topping the middle of it. The dough was nice and thin and had that typical nice chewy crust all around. The ingredients worked surprisingly well together, but could have done without the tomatoes. Visually they were a nice pop of colors, but tastewise they had no business on the Franconian Pretzel pizza. I didn't try the vegetarian version, but my friend, who is a tiny person, ate the entire thing, whereas I could only finish half of mine. So I would say she enjoyed it. I had the pana cotta with blueberry compote and was delighted to see the compote made from the small blueberries I grew up with instead of these huge overbred tasteless blueberries so common nowadays. Kudos to this place. Check it out if you are ever in the area.

Such a welcome surprise to find a Thai restaurant that doesn't insist on serving yet more mediocre…read moreversions of Red/Yellow/Green curry with a choice of meat or tofu. The menu is brief. Noodles in broth, a salad with rice as the base, and sticky rice with or without fruit. Vegan versions of the noodles and salad are printed on the menu, so you don't have to ask for ingredients to be left out. I'm vegetarian and I like the peace of mind of not having to request that the fish sauce be left out, and then hoping to hell that the cook actually remembered doing that. Presentation is plain in keeping with the idea of this being Thai street food, but this does not take away from the quality of the food in any way. I ordered the rice salad dish, and every bite was flavorful. I could have done with a little more lime juice and chilli (rectified by adding spice powder and the vegan version of fish sauce) but that's an individual preference. I really appreciate the vegan version of the chilli fish sauce. Smelling the latter from any closer than two table-lengths away usually does appreciable harm to my appetite, and I like that the vegan sauce is in jars clearly labeled as such. Not a big fan of the seating arrangements here. The tables are low, and the chairs are upholstered in the hideous "vintage" style revival that is all the rage in Germany, a good many years after it died the miserable death that it deserves elsewhere. Not only do the chairs look terrible, they also are not very comfortable to sit in, which is yet another feature of these abominations. I appreciate mid-Century pieces and Danish Modern furniture just as much if not more than your average bearded hipster claims to, but most of this bottom-feeder crap that finds its way into cheap restaurants and cafés needs to be burnt whenever the crematorium's having a slow day. Well, apart for the rant above, Regenzeit is promising, and I'll be back there for more lunches.
