We just finished a four-week board and train with Carson at The Dog Knowledge. Worth every penny!…read more Not going to lie - the first couple weeks were rough on us, not him. We missed him like crazy and worried about how he was feeling. Dennis actually had us come in halfway through, showed us what Carson had been learning, and said something that I keep thinking about: Carson wasn't missing us. Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

In just a couple…read moreof hours of training, we saw big shifts in her focus, regulation, and our own confidence. It felt immediately practical and grounded, not overwhelming or overly rigid... and actually, fun! One of the biggest takeaways was learning how to use the growl/bah cue as a simple "focus on me" signal, paired with really big, enthusiastic praise when she listens or offers good behavior. That combination alone made a noticeable difference in how quickly she engages and settles. Patrick also gave us clear daily practices to work on, especially around reducing attention-seeking behaviors, managing front door and doorbell excitement, helping her place and settle, and most importantly supporting her adrenaline and impulse control. It all feels doable and structured without being stressful. On top of the training itself, Patrick was also incredibly helpful in guiding us through a diet transition for Bondi. That kind of whole-dog support really stood out because he clearly cares about Bondi's wellbeing -- not just obedience. Patrick is knowledgeable, calm, supportive, and really good at explaining the why behind what you're doing. We left sessions feeling empowered instead of confused, which says a lot. We're honestly thrilled with the progress we've already made and excited to keep building on it. If you're looking for a trainer who is thoughtful, effective, and genuinely invested in your dog's success and your relationship with them, we would absolutely recommend Patrick without hesitation.

Our dogs were running our life and within the first day, I can say I see a difference in their behavior. Everything he said made so much sense the way he explained it from a "dog's perspective". I love him for how much he has helped us. I highly recommend him and now consider him the "Cesar Milan" of Charlotte .

First off, Richard is a passionate and talented man, it's easy to see from the moment you meet him; Richard does what he loves. Second, he speaks dog... like direct communication, but what's cool is before I knew it, I was communicating with my babies even better. He was teaching me to talk to the dogs the whole time and I had no clue. Third, he inspired me! It is not often you meet somebody with the courage to walk away from every comfort they know to pursue something they love. Richard listened to what I wanted to do, I wanted to strengthen the bond between myself and the dogs. I already see a difference, they do too. I've worked with several trainers in the past and never felt a comfortable, or confident connection and neither did my dogs. I don't know who's more excited about our next lesson, me or the dogs. I can tell you there's more to come. If you want to get to know your dogs better and really strengthen that bond, call Richard. I assure you; you won't have any regrets.

In response, they told me to first remove my reviews from Google and Yelp in order to process the refund. That alone reflects how they handle complaints and accountability. I boarded my dog Mishka here while attending my sister's funeral one of the most difficult times in my life. The photos they sent showed Mishka looking terrified and unwell, but they kept saying she was "doing great." I asked four times for my emergency contact (my nephew, who has a close bond with her) to visit and check on her. They denied every request. I also asked that she be walked, and they didn't cooperate. I noticed in two or three playtime photos that she was on a leash, and when I asked why, they said it was for her safety because she's a jumper but isn't this supposed to be a place designed for dogs to play? When I picked her up, she was dirty, had visible signs of diarrhea, and her ribs were showing. A vet confirmed she had lost over 13% of her body weight and suspected stress from boarding as the cause. At first, the facility said they would review covering the vet bill then later refused. Instead of taking responsibility, they focused on silencing my experience.
