Grant from Elite Heating and Air Conditioning came out to service our furnace and air conditioner…read moreas a part of our service agreement. He was very professional and communicated well. When he showed up, we found a puddle of water under the furnace and over part of the basement. It was because one of the drains was partially clogged. He opened up the furnace, cleaned it out and drained the backed up water. He then completed the service and maintenance on the unit without any problems. There was no charge for his visit, as it was part of the yearly maintenance agreement. I was originally hesitant to purchase the maintenance agreement but after this visit I felt good that I had it. I would highly recommend Grant and Elite Heating and Air Conditioning. Thanks!!

Over Labor Day weekend I had Elite out as my AC went out. The technician came out and replaced the…read morecapacitor. In testing the fan motor, the motor was free spinning without any resistance or slowing/drag observed. The unit started up. One week later, the unit went out again, but this time the fan motor was locked up. The fan motor and the capacitor replaced and the unit started up. During this second repair the technician took the capacitor I had purchased for $500 (a part online for $25), did a test, didn't report the numbers to me, and told me he was placing the part back into inventory on his truck. I reached out to Elite after this repair asking for a refund of the capacitor in the amount of $300 to so that the technicians repair time was covered for the holiday time the week before, and they refused. My rational for the refund, and my concern, is that there is a potential that the capacitor to replace the originally failed one was used, given the apparent practice of technicians using old/worn parts that have been placed back into their inventory. While the technician stated that the capacitor still tested ok, given that this specific capacitor was installed during the motor lockup, it is inherently altered and worn. Wit this practice, I am concerned that such a used capacitor was installed on my unit with the fan working properly, and thus caused overheating of the motor with a weakened capacitor. Elite has offered no refund at this time, and I have canceled all of my extended families' services with the organization, given that they have the potential of utilizing worn parts and selling them as new parts.

For that reason, I had them do a spring checkup, Emma claimed the heat exchanger was cracked, the fly wheel needed cleaning, and the a/c compressor was "over amping." I had a different, highly reputable company check the furnace and a/c, and they found that none of this was true - neither the furnace nor the a/c had any problems. Also, Emma did not provide a written a written description of her service and recommendations, and they have not provided the promised receipt for the payment of the second inspection. They are either incompetent or dishonest, very possibly both.

First visit ($187): The technician claimed a personal medical issue and required me to provide my own ladder and physically assist in operating his equipment. The leak was not fixed. He then completed unauthorized maintenance and added a $385 plan renewal charge on-site. The Service Manager refused a refund. He was very polite and respectful while in my home, even wearing protective shoe covers. He arrived at 8:00am as scheduled and spent 2 hours completing a "Home Diagnostic Inspection" which included examining all my hot water heaters and ALL plumbing fixtures throughout my home which I was not expecting. He then presented me with a service plan at $60 per month for a maintenance plan which gave me a discount on future services (10%) and a 50% discount on the service call fee of $119.00. He also gave me a bid on replacement cost for several faucets which I felt was a little bit higher than I was willing to pay. He said I could buy my own parts but the installation charge would be higher. I told him "Thank you but no thank you". He gave me a bid for the removal and installation of the 'Insinkerator' instant hot water dispenser that I had already purchased. The bid was extremely higher than I ever expected! But, the technician was here and I wanted it done, however I only elected to have ONE faucet replaced which made the price go up! Long story short, I was charged $815.36 for the installation which took One Hour and Fifteen minutes (I provided the part). In addition to this, I was charged $119.00 for the service call fee! I paid a total of $934.36 and 2/3 of the time he was here was spent on trying to sell me a service plan for my plumbing, H-Vac system as well as my electrical needs for $60 A MONTH! Then, you get a whopping 10% discount on the service call fee! I calculated that this service call was $12.47 per minute! I contacted the company customer service representative to talk about what I thought was an extremely high charge and all she could offer was that they have to pay for gas, tools and expenses! She also reminded me that I signed and agreed to the bid (she told me this 5 times). I told her I DID agree that that was their bid and I paid it! I did not agree that it was a fair price but I did not want to confront the young technician. I called HER to discuss the issue, to see if she thought that $934.36 for 1 hour and 15 minutes labor was fair. She did! Call this company if you have money to burn but you will get your work done politely.
